Update: later this afternoon, the site started working better and isn’t as slow. So that is definitely progress.
When I first went on, the sale price still didn’t show in the cart. That has changed. It does now.
I decided to allow my Silhouette software to connect to the internet, and it tried to sync multiple times, but gave me an error message each time.
I use a version of the software that is not the most recent, but I have a Cameo 4, not the 5, and the newer software has features geared toward the Cameo 5. I prefer the version I currently have, without extra bells and whistles that I won’t use and might potentially slow things down.
So I switched my software back to working offline for now.
But at least the website has improved.
For the record, I have a Cricut Explore Air 2, and it is a good machine, but the Silhouette software is far better and more capable IMO than the Cricut software, at least for designing my own cutting files. With my subscription, the Silhouette designs are also a lot more affordable to buy than Cricut designs, and except for the Disney designs, I prefer the style of Silhouette designs in general. I don’t intend to give up my Silhouette over this, but I do think whoever was in charge of the update made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully they will learn from this, but I’m not surprised that Restless Spirit is giving up on Silhouette. I think a lot of people probably feel like walking away. This has probably really hurt Silhouette. Upsetting customers is never a good idea.
Despite the frustrations of what has happened, I am willing to wait. I’m sure they will fix the issues, but I do wish they had handled this better.

That was one of my worries, too. They are reportedly going to make sure that lost credits will be restored. Here is another site that had more information, and it’s worth checking: More helpful Silhouette Update info
I feel less stressed now that I know my credits won’t be lost forever. So far, it looks like they are still there, even if I can’t use them right now. The sale goes till June 5th, so hopefully the site will be fixed before then.

I just logged in and the website it very slow but it does eventually load. I haven't tried to download since all my files are already downloaded so I can't speak to that.

When I was on this afternoon, the site was working fairly well, although a bit sluggish. It’s better than yesterday, except for the fact that the free file and the one file I bought supposedly downloaded but won’t sync to my library. My Cameo tries to sync, but it keeps giving me an error message. I have an older version of the software, which could be the issue, but I prefer this version, since I have a Cameo 4, not a Cameo 5. I may have to update my software, and I’d rather not.
So I went back to offline. Hopefully they will have it all fixed by Monday or Tuesday.
If it still has issues, and I have to update my software, then I have a backup copy of my Silhouette library.

I was finally able to download some files I bought by logging in to the silhouette store on google and not through the software. I went to my downloads, clicked on the files I wanted to download, and was able to download them. When I went to the store through the silhouette software each image in my downloads was enormous and stretched.

At last, an update email (which took *forever* to load) with "reassurance" ?
SILHOUETTE UPDATES
Many of you have been encountering problems and we apologize. We want to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information on the status of the actions being taken on our end.
What has occurred the last few weeks
• At the end of May, we migrated servers behind-the-scenes.
• While the websites themselves are up and running, we are currently addressing some communication issues between the new server and Silhouette Studio.
Important information
• During the migration, none of your designs were lost or deleted.
• We are working to reconnect you to all your designs. This is currently our top priority. We will email you to let you know when the fix for this is implemented.
• Designs will not automatically import into Silhouette Studio, but they can be manually downloaded from the store. See: “How to access your designs.”
What we’re doing now
• We are currently fixing the communication between the server and the software. No software update will be necessary to implement the fixes.
• Our teams are testing all ongoing adjustments to the server to ensure that we are providing a solution for all known issues.
How to access your designs
1. Visit silhouettedesignstore.com/sdsdownloads.
2. Log in to your Design Store account.
3. Click on the desired design. This will download a folder containing the design and its license to your device.
4. Navigate to your downloads folder, open the zip file, and double-click the Studio file inside.
5. Your design will open in Silhouette Studio, ready for your next project.
I'll admit, I haven't even visited their website since all of this began, preferring to wait until they're done. I am a patient person :-)

Thank you, elegantsufficiency , for the update. My engineer DH had told me that it sounded like they were changing servers, and that is what the email you posted said. He also said that normally, when a company changes servers, the switch doesn’t occur until the new site is working well. I went ahead and bought items from the Silhouette Design Store during the half off sale, since I figured I could download them later, and I had credits that needed to be used. I had 83 items that I had bought and were waiting to be downloaded. In the past, you could download the entire order as one, and they showed up in your software immediately. Last night, I had to download each of the 83 items separately, and I will have to unzip each separately, which will take time and be annoying. Hopefully they will get all this corrected soon. I am still working OFFLINE with my Silhouette for now. Other than not being able to purchase and download files from the Silhouette Design Store, it works fine.

I tried to buy a few things at 50% off but was not given the discount. My Studio will not sync, shows offline and errors when I unclick/click the work offline feature. That usually fixes syncing issues. I was able to look up cut file numbers and find them in the Silhouette Go app doing a query. That has not worked lately. I do have a bit to cut out in preparation for my recovery period post surgery. The timing just adds to my frustration with this fiasco.

I do have a bit to cut out in preparation for my recovery period post surgery. The timing just adds to my frustration with this fiasco. At the first day or two of the sale, I put all the files that were in my wish list into my cart. Then I realized that it showed full price for the files. Fortunately, I noticed that before I checked out. So I put all 81 back in my wishlist. It was a slow, obnoxious process because the site was still super slow, and I had to do them one by one. A few days later, the files finally showed the sale price, so I went ahead and bought them before the sale expired (I think the last day was the 10th). If you bought them during the sale, you should send Silhouette an email asking them to credit you the amount that their site overcharged, especially if you bought a lot of files. I will be so glad when their site works well again. Hopefully that day will come sooner than later. I love my Silhouette. I love their software. I used to love their site, but not at the moment.

Just logged into the site. Nope, not happy. Super slow and clunky, and no way to sort by date for the latest designs.
I tried to get two free with purchases designs, and the prices never adjusted, so I dropped them from my cart.
Also, I feel like there is a bait and switch, because I can't find the last chance designs, which I am supposed to be able to get for free at my subscription level.
Feeling strongly that I may cancel my sun once my year commitment is up. 👎

Feeling strongly that I may cancel my sun once my year commitment is up. 👎 If they don’t get the issues resolved soon, I think a lot of customers will cancel their subscriptions and turn to other options. That could be a disaster for Silhouette. Sales of the machines aren’t the only thing keeping their company solvent. When a company decides to change servers, they usually keep the first one going till the new site is fully functional, so that the transfer is seamless. I suspect that they may have tried to cut corners, so they weren’t paying for two servers at once, or maybe they just kept the overlap to a minimum, hoping to get it done quickly and to keep costs down. If they lose subscribers over this, though, they will be losing money from the subs that they probably took for granted.

Glad I have my Cricuts. They're not perfect, but I prefer them. I use SCAL with my Silhouette Portrait 2 for the most part, so I rarely use Silhouette Studio. I do have some files in there, and they all look good. I haven't bought or downloaded anything recently. I do hope that everyone's account gets sorted out soon. I understand how frustrating that must be. They really made a big mess of this transition by not waiting until the new site was up and running.

I understand how frustrating that must be. They really made a big mess of this transition by not waiting until the new site was up and running. I agree that this is extremely frustrating, and that they have made a big mess of things. The issues are only about their not having the new site fully functioning before the switch, and currently have to do mainly with purchased file design downloads, and how slow the website functions (which isn’t consistent). I’ve subscribed for years and never lost any Silhouette Design Store files due to any update. I back up periodically, regardless. Both Cricut and Silhouette make excellent electronic cutters, which are comparable. Which one you prefer usually comes down to three things: the software for each machine, the designs each company offers, and their subscription plans. If I want to cut Cricut/Disney designs, I use my Explore Air 2. I use my Silhouette for everything else. For the record, Cricut has experienced PR disasters, too, far worse than Silhouette’s. A website can be fixed. As long as I don’t lose my credits, it’s not costing me anything. As long as they fix their website, I will probably keep subscribing. My sub doesn’t renew till the end of November, so there is plenty of time for me to decide. With my sub, I get the designs of my choice for pennies on the dollar, and they are mine to keep forever, even if I were stop subscribing. However, if I stop my subscription, I won’t be able to just re-subscribe and get the same deal if I change my mind. With a Cricut sub, you get to USE most of their designs while subscribing, but (except for the $10 coupon you get every 3 months) you do NOT get to keep those designs if you quit subscribing. Also, Disney and other premium designs are NOT included in your subscription. You can buy designs for 10% off, but I get a far better deal with Silhouette.

Supposedly they sent out an email recently saying you won't lose your designs or credits. I didn't receive one.
If you are on FB, Silhouette Secrets+ with EllyMae is an excellent group. She has been sending out updates all along. She also is really great about problem solving if you have an issue with your machine. Sad that Silhouette can't be as responsive as a FB group!
