I “bought” the free file and can’t see any way to download it. The site used to work great, but in their efforts to make it fresh and new, it doesn’t work. I have credits that I may potentially lose because their site is crap. It takes forever to load any option that I click, and it won’t let me download anything.
Anyone else having issues?

I went on there yesterday, saw the changes and said I don't want to figure this out right now, and logged off. I will have to try to download something and see what happens...

Ok, it is really slow, and I had to reset my password even though I have it written down and am pretty sure I know what it is... so overall it took about 20 minutes to find and download (buy) one file and to change my password. My file downloaded on it's own, after I hit purchase, but not to "recent downloads." I searched "all files" by the design name and it was in there.
I hope it is only this slow because it's new. If it is that slow always, that will be super annoying!

Thanks. I will check to see if it is in my files, even though it didn’t show that it had downloaded.
Edited to add: Nope. It didn’t download to either my downloads folder or my software.

My DH just got out of the hospital on Monday, and I’m a bit of a basket case, anyway. I have a bunch of credits that I need to use before the 30th, or I’ll lose them. If they are lost, I will be really upset. I’ve emailed Silhouette about this, but their customer service via email is crappy, and I think they got rid of the chat function, which used to actually give you decent support.

I bought 6 files earlier today and they have not downloaded. I thought I would print the receipt but it would have taken all my black ink because they now have a big black strip down the side. I hope they get things straightened out soon. I'm surprised they would have opened this new version without checking it out first. I think they are impossible to work will. I am still waiting to hear back from a ticket I sent in May 2023!!

I stopped in over the holiday weekend to see if they were having a good sale...they weren't. But man. The site is hard to use now and super slow.
Edit: looks now now everything is 50% off.

I was trying to download a cut file I bought and there wasn't an option to do that. I was in the middle of a layout and wanted to use the cut file for it. It was so frustrating and I ended up setting all of those supplies aside until the site is fixed. I went to the silhouette subreddit and read that some peoples had their entire library disappear!

Of course they have a sale right after I bought a few things from there this weekend. I had to go into my account and then go to Downloads to find what I bought, I prefer the old system.

So Silhouette just did a major update of their websites on the 21st and there have been significant issues since then with anything connected to that such as purchasing/downloading files and subscriptions. A lot of people have also had issues accessing files that are stored on Silhouette's servers. It's a mess.
I only know this because I belong to several Silhouette groups on Facebook and there have been a lot of very frustrated users. I feel like they've done a very poor job of communicating throughout this whole thing. Apparently they sent an email to people on their email list that a major update was going to take place, but if you aren't on the list or a member of unofficial Silhouette Facebook groups, there's no way to have learned that this was going to happen. Even worse, they have been silent on the issues that have sprung up since the update. Some people in the Facebook groups have reported getting some canned responses from Silhouette - but they had to reach out to them. Silhouette hasn't even bothered to post a statement on their websites alerting people to the problems and how they are working to address them.
I have both Cricut and Silhouette machines, and like them for different reasons. For all of Cricut's faults, and they have them, they would have handled this 100% better. Anytime they do a major update that will bring the system down, they post a warning in Design Space with fairly ample warning time. If this had happened to them, I am pretty certain they would be posting updates to keep users informed. Anytime I have had to contact Silhouette with an issue, I have never gotten a response. I eventually was able to resolve issues via a Silhouette expert/product influencer on Facebook, which as super helpful as she is, shouldn't be necessary. Just my opinion, based on my experiences with both companies.

Yep, I'm having issues similar to those described by other peas. I did get a purchase through right before the update and that downloaded OK, but after that I couldn't even get on the site -- login didn't work, recovery/reset pwd didn't work (even though I know I was using my correct login & pwd ). I just left it alone for now, and hopefully they will get things worked out soon. As mom says, they are definitely making it easy to spend no money there right now.

I’m not sure how I found it, but somehow I found a link to a thread of complaints about the update, perhaps on Facebook.
Since some people have lost their entire LIBRARY OF DESIGNS, I recommend that you avoid at all costs the option on the site that says “reconfigure library” or something similar. I am betting that is how libraries disappeared. I can’t think of any reason to even have that as a link.
I have set my software to “Work Offline” so I at least don’t lose my library while they work out the bugs. I also took a photo of how much I have in credits, just in case the credits disappear.
When I complained to my husband about the new site, he said that he wonders if they moved to a new website provider that promised to save them money, but that doesn’t really deliver the same service or quality. Sometimes companies get roped into changing, then find out it’s cheaper because they provide less or low quality services.
Hopefully Silhouette will get this mess cleaned up quick, but I’m not holding my breath.

Over a week to update a server? That's either negligence or incompetence.
Best advice is to always, always download and archive a backup copy of your important files, and make sure they work. If you cannot archive it, you don't actually own it.

Over a week to update a server? That's either negligence or incompetence. Best advice is to always, always download and archive a backup copy of your important files, and make sure they work. If you cannot archive it, you don't actually own it. I agree that users should have downloaded everything, and backed all files up to your own hard drive or external hard drive. I’ve always done that. I have all the files that I’ve downloaded until this most recent update. You cannot assume there will never be a problem with the Cloud. I have never seen such a disaster with Silhouette before, and I’ve been using Silhouette for over 15 years, probably more like 20. Hopefully they will fix it quickly, but from what I read, their most recent “fix” just made things worse. I will continue to work offline until they fix it. Normally I take advantage of any 50% off sale, but no way am I buying any files until they fix the site. Did they seriously think a half off sale would help when people can’t download the designs? And getting more people on their site is bound to make it run slower still, and just make more people livid. My DH has a tech background, and he said that there is a very specific procedure to change a website, to make sure that any new overhaul of the site will go smoothly and avoid this kind of disaster. You shouldn’t dismantle what you had before the new one works well. They seem to have skipped that part. Edited to add: A bit higher up in this thread, I recommended that everyone back up all of the files you have in your Silhouette program. Before you do this, make sure your computer is temporarily offline. Set up a separate folder in your computer files and name it something suitable. My folder has today’s date followed by “Silhouette Library Export” so I can see at a glance which is the most recent. Then, if you haven’t already done this, switch your Silhouette software program, regardless of what version it is, to “work offline” by clicking on your name in the upper left corner of the software. A drop down menu will offer you the chance to work offline, as well as export your entire library to the file folder you have prepared. It has a default folder it will set up, but you can change that to the folder that you have named. I exported a previous library back up in February, but I have added files since then, so I am doing a new export. When it exports the library to the folder you have chosen, it can take awhile. Once you have exported your library (all the files will also remain in your Silhouette software program), you can change your computer settings back to being online, but keep the Silhouette software offline for now until they fix their issues. That will allow you to keep their problems from affecting your library. I had switched mine off a day or two ago, when it kept trying to update the library files without succeeding. I’m glad that it didn’t. I got fed up and switched to working offline and forgot about it, but I am keeping it that way until they get their problems resolved.

I don't think I would go that far, I've been involved in server upgrades that have gone horrifically wrong and sometimes these things just happen. It is frustrating for the end user for sure, they need to be more forthcoming with updates about what's happening with their upgrade for sure though. I haven't seen any communication at all regarding the upgrade. Fortunately I downloaded all my purchases (I only have 100) so I'm not affected so far. I'm sorry everyone is going through all this mess! I should offer my IT services to help them out, maybe I'll get a free machine out of the deal

Thanks for the heads up about all of this everyone - I opened the Silhouette store page and everything you warned me about was there to see. I'm not a frequent user (except if the freebie is something I might use) but I have $30 or so in credit and I occasionally find something spend some of it on. But you're right, they're not making it easy and not being the most patient person in the world, there was no way I would hang around waiting to see what's up. Here's hoping they get it sorted out before I really *need* something from there. Or before my $30 goes missing! Good advice about backing it all up as well scrapnnana. Thank you for that!

Silhouette posted their 50% off sale on Facebook. They definitely got some pointed comments in replies about their site fiasco. Not sure if the public comments will get them to fix it any faster, but I can hope they at least are seeing how unhappy customers are. They might just delete their comment and/or the replies. We’ll see what happens.

And you definitely don't delete the old, working site before ensuring the new one is functioning as intended, so that you can rollback in exactly this scenario. And if you do both of these, you do not have a 50% off sale in the middle of a crisis that is going to generate even more issues, traffic, support tickets and dissatisfaction in your userbase. I'm not sure what else to call this but a compounding of poor choices.

Its such BS that they are running a sale knowing people cannot download the items that are paid for.

Feeling too lazy to post a screenshot, but here's the text of the email Silhouette sent out this evening. I find it to be less then helpful:
We are aware of the issues being encountered with the new websites. We apologize for any inconvenience and frustration this may have caused. Rest assured we are working diligently to resolve these problems and will have everything up and running smoothly soon. Our intent with this upgrade is to improve your experience and the offerings we provide. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

About that sale……I figured I would see what would happen if I added my wishlist to the shopping cart.
There is supposedly a half off sale, but nothing shows as half price. All items in my cart show FULL PRICE! And the total cost shows FULL PRICE.
Essentially, THEIR HALF OFF SALE IS A LIE if no discount is actually given.
So those files will sit in my cart until the cart shows that the discount price will be applied.

They should have sent a heads up before this fiasco even happened, and told customers there might be issues using the site. I think they also should make sure that subscription credits carry over, even if due to expire. I thought I had used enough of mine to carry over, but I wasn’t sure, and the site no longer shows which of your credits are from your subscription vs. credit that you have purchased. They did show that in the past. But I think the supreme stupidity is to announce a half off sale that doesn’t actually give you half off, at least not if you are using subscription credits. That is going to make customers even more upset than they already are.

Sigh. Big sigh. I’m in the process of downsizing my craft supplies. I own Cricuts, a Silhouette Air 2 and an old Scan N Cut. I’ve been struggling with deciding which machines to get rid of and this debacle has pushed me over the edge. I’m just too old to deal with this stuff. I’ll be boxing up my silhouette and sending it off to Goodwill. Next will be my Scan N Cut because it doesn’t seem to like my Apple computer. And I’m not replacing that.
Interestingly, enough, I am an outlier when it comes to Cricut. I’ve had very little issues over the years with the machines I have used. My Cricut Joy Extra is a real joy to use.(pardon the pun).

I am as frustrated as everyone else and cannot believe it is taking this long to resolve the issues. Part of my job before retirement was to test our program/website and try to “break” any updates before implementation with extensive testing. Was this done? Doesn’t seem like it. Silhouette should revert to the old site until the new one is properly tested and truly ready for launch. The incredibly slow speed of the site is just ridiculous and unusable. I hope subscribers do not lose credits they are unable to use before their expiration. I know I have a bunch to use.
