Congratulations! Are you a little sad? Didn't you say you've lived there a long time? Ha! My first house I went through and said good-bye to every room and the backyard. The second house not so much. I just said good bye to the house.

The funny thing about the family that is buying our place. They showed up to see it last Saturday. But, their agent messed up and booked the showing at another property. I dashed out with the carts and dh stayed with them so they could see it anyway. The wife was asking him tons of questions. They came back the next day with their agent and an official appointment. Dh is taking that as proof that his brother is right and having a selling agent present is a good thing. I told him he’s wrong because none of the peas agree. :-) Firstly, Congrats!!! Secondly, I will say, that it was probably convenient to get their questions answered immediately. Usually every time you have a question it's another waiting game for the question to be passed along 3 times forward & 3 times back. We toured some homes with owners present and it was a huge pain, but one house in particular (and one that we made an offer on) was owned by an older woman, and she basically gave us the full history of the house because she had lived there since she was a child. And then she was there again when the inspection took place, and the inspector picked her brain like crazy. So, I can see how it could work out well occasionally. Ultimately we didn't buy the house due to issues the inspection turned up, but had the inspection gone well I would have definitely said that getting all of that info about the house did give it one more check in the "pro" column. BUT, that was having the owner there, not the selling agent, AND, as I said, it was just that one time that it really worked out nicely like that.

Yes…some sadness for sure about leaving. But, there are enough things that I don’t love about the house that I’m not too sad. My 23 year old dd is very sad. It’s the only house she remembers living in.

congratulations, glad that is behind you!!
fyi - I mentioned before I worked in RE for years. it is most common for just the buyer agent to attend showings here. there are exceptions like a super-high strung vendor (we had one once that had a baby grand and they didn't want anyone to touch it or breath on it so to get the listing, the agent had to agree to be present for all showings). OR the other time I have seen it has been for SUPER high end listings. agent is making so much commission, they are like "sure, no problem, I will be there".
good luck with the move!!
