Just mentioned on The View, what happens if some one decides you don't need more children and tie you tubes or you are the wrong color, will there be forced sterilization? That was like a thunderbolt to me... I’ve said several times that a government that can force you to have babies you don’t want could also decide to force to not to have the babies you do want. They are opposite sides of the exact same coin, and no government should have that much control over any individual person’s bodily autonomy.

The US already has a history of forced sterilization. But the pro life crowd doesn’t care because they don’t think any of this will be applied to them

Some of the worst far right politicians are from Texas (Abbott, Paxton, Cruz etc) But the Republican Party has really gone off the deep end in an attempt to stay in power. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/06/03/texas-republican-party-new-platform/Opinion The Texas Republican Party has gone off the deep end Even before the release of an outrageous new platform, the party had become an embarrassment to itself. Just a few of the platform’s planks: that the Bible should be taught in public schools, with chaplains on hand “to counsel and give guidance from a traditional biblical perspective based on Judeo-Christian principles.” That noncitizens who are legal residents of this country should be deported if they are arrested for participating in a protest that turns violent. That name changes to military bases should be reversed to “publicly honor the southern heroes.” That doctors who perform abortions should be charged with homicide.
Then there is this audaciously undemocratic provision: To be elected to state office, a candidate must win not only a majority of votes, but also more than half of Texas’s 254 counties. Let me translate what that means. Democrats in Texas are concentrated in a few urban areas, while Republicans are spread across the map. This system would effectively mean Democrats — who, as it is, haven’t won a statewide office since 1994 — would be shut out forever. convention.texasgop.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024-TEMPORARY-Platform-FINAL.pdf

Additional information on the ongoing issues facing Ryan Hamilton's wife after her horrifying near death experience because Texas controls women's healthcare: This story is just horrific. I can't believe that we are here, in the 21st century, with medical 'care' like this happening in a country that considers itself to be 'the best country in the world'

And to think this is just one story of MANY, most of which won’t ever be fully told because the women are just everyday people and not related to someone like Ryan Hamilton who are able to get more attention. I’m SO glad that he was able to put himself out there on his wife’s behalf so their story got some media attention. Anyone who thinks “this couldn’t happen to ME” are just fooling themselves. It could. It does. It has.
The piecemeal situation of women’s health care in this country right now is already abysmal and I’m horrified by the thought that after the election things could possibly get even worse.

Dear Lord, that poor woman. How anybody finds this situation excusable is just beyond me.

An amendment like that could be prevented if we weren’t so horribly gerrymandered. But the national democrats just couldn’t get around to passing voting rights legislation when they had the chance. 🙄

How far? Easy; barefoot, pregnant in the kitchen, asking for permission to do anything out of the restricted norm.
Let us not forget all the changes to child labor laws. Arkansas, Missouri plus.. 14 years old, unrestricted hours, and serving alcohol plus...

Yes, they are going farther!! GOP will move if TFG is elected. He has said he is with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)... Well they will try even if he isn't elected. Republicans will ban in-vitro fertilization if Donald Trump is elected after the Southern Baptist Convention voted on Wednesday to condemn the practice, a political scientist is predicting. *** Other critics are sounding the alarm as well. “When Sen. Katie Britt and Sen. Ted Cruz say IVF is safe and Dems are fear-mongering, she’s lying, and today the SBC told on her,” Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Kyle Whitmire wrote. I could care less if Southern Baptists oppose the science of IVF that has helped so many people to have families that they otherwise would not have,” noted neuroscientist Bryan William Jones. “You be you. What I do care about is that Southern Baptists are working politically to PREVENT families from having access to IVF.”The Biden campaign Wednesday afternoon posted video of Donald Trump praising the SBC and vowing, “I’ll be with you side by side." www.rawstory.com/gop-will-ban-ivf-if-trump-wins-after-southern-baptists-condemnation-expert/

What they forget is the diversity of income and who seeks/receives birth control and is able to pay for it... Us ordinary people will do without BC and assorted female medical services, but their entitled wealth will provide for them, all services. they will continue to be out numbered.

He sums up the Republican position on abortion, contraception and IVF really clearly. Republicans want the government to have control of women's health care decisions government controlChris Murphy @chrismurphyct Today Republicans blocked a bill that would stop states from banning IVF treatment. That’s outrageous.
This is pretty simple - Republicans want to put government in charge of women’s bodies.
And we need to stop them.

actions speak louder than wordsCongresswoman Jasmine Crockett @repjasmine Senate Republicans just voted to BLOCK the Right to IVF Act - a bill that protects IVF nationwide.
House Republicans are trying to jam thru provisions in the defense funding bill blocking funding for servicemembers who need an abortion.
Actions speak louder than words.

Us ordinary people will do without BC and assorted female medical services, but their entitled wealth will provide for them, all services. they will continue to be out numbered. Absolutely true. We've told our girls that for now, we stay in Texas and fight for those who can't afford to get the care they need elsewhere. That's how we use our privilege - if one of them needed it, we could get them to Colorado or Mexico to get the care they need. Others can't do that, so for the moment, we stay and fight. Depending on how things go, we may decide at some point that we can't do that any more.

Let's be real, though - the people pushing hardest for more births really just want more white births. They're terrified of the day that we white people are a minority in the US.

How much farther are they going to go to control women?
They're going to take it as far as they can. They won't stop until they are stopped.
You know damn well that people of privilege will still have the access they need. And by people of privilege I'm talking about the daughters/mistresses of the old guys with money.
