Aaron Rupar….
“Reporter: Trump is coming here to meet with Republicans for the first time since the January 6th attack. Have you spoken to him about not doing anything like that again and respecting the peaceful transfer of power?

Well actually it’s not.
Aaron Rupar…
”REPORTER: You talked about the importance of Garland complying with a subpoena. I'm curious since Chairman Jordan and four other colleagues declined under the J6 committee, if you worry that undermines the argument.

Don’t be fooled by what this fool is saying. The real reason the right wants to cut Social Security, Medicare, & other social programs is because they want to make the trump tax cuts permanent without continuing to increase the debt which they got dinged with during trump’s time in office. The ONLY thing the GOP wants to do is cut taxes for the 1% and large corporations.

“Here is Mike Johnson calling to cut Social Security and Medicare: “We’ve got to think about long-term reforms to those programs”

If they had built the bridge right the first time it would have survived the ship hitting it. If you look at the Golden Gate Bridge the tower farthest from land has a cement wall surrounding that tower. That is called a buffer. The theory being if a ship hits that instead of the tower the bridge won’t be damaged. And it works, in 2013 a ship hit the buffer around one of the towers of the Bay Bridge. The bridge suffered no damage but the ship was damaged, caused an oil spill. From what I understand all the major bridges in SF Bay have these buffers. These buffers should be mandatory for any bridge that has any type of large ships going under it. ABC 7 News “As Baltimore shipping channel reopens, DOT estimates at least $1.7B to rebuild bridge abc7ne.ws/3VoFV8c” x.com/abc7newsbayarea/status/1800991495920459899?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

having studied the golden gate bridge construction. (I worked at the nps site under the bridge) I don't think the barrier on that bridge was first built to prevent ship damage. the main reason was that they were unable to build the main support structure under water, so they built the concrete vault so they could put the structure on dry ground. the barrier part is a secondary consequence of that construction. the water depth under that bridge is from 50 ft to 300 ft.
but it is modern construction to consider protection from hazards.

The house has refered Garland to the DOJ for contempt of Congress.. House Republicans voted Wednesday to criminally refer Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress despite some reports earlier in the week that they were struggling to get the votes to do so. *** "Why is the GOP, including those who blew off 1/6 Committee subpoenas, trying to hold AG Garland in contempt after he provided overwhelming compliance with their requests?" asked Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD). "Do they think impeachable offenses lurk in the background noise of audiotapes they have transcripts for?"*** "The GOP house is an abomination for our democracy. They are showing us just how awful they govern. Vote them out," wrote the account @matoulamikos. "They want the audio so they can cut sentences and phrases out of context to try to prove POTUS is old and senile," wrote the account @tesscatbird. "Transcripts just don’t cut it- they want ads of Biden stumbling over his words. It’s disgraceful." www.rawstory.com/attorney-general-merrick-garland-2668512253/

Sad life... He appreciates the things he was able to do while with the Thomases.. but they dropped him cold as a teen. What a difference with how the Biden's have treated their son.... The man who was raised by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, Ginni, as their own son from ages 6 to 19 is in jail awaiting trial on drugs and weapons charges, Business Insider has learned. *** In a 2007 C-SPAN interview, Thomas told the host Brian Lamb that Martin, who was 16 at the time, was living with him and his wife and that they were "raising him as a son." *** (Hidden Lake Academy became the subject of congressional hearings about facilities for troubled teens over claims they could mislead families and turn abusive.)( (one of the places they sent him, just what he needed on place of a living family)*** When neither placement prevented Martin from acting out with minor drug use and other petty crimes, the Thomases cut him off, Martin told BI. *** Martin says he was eventually expelled from Randolph-Macon Academy for failing a drug test as a junior in high school. At that point, Martin told BI Clarence and Ginni Thomas shipped him back to Martin's mother's house in Georgia, where they'd taken him from a decade prior, and he'd rarely heard from them since. "I actually don't know if they know that I'm locked up — I'm not sure they'd care too much," Martin told BI. "I've seen — I've probably seen them two times, maybe three times, over the last 14 years." Representatives for Randolph-Macon Academy declined to comment for this story, and BI could not independently confirm Martin's claims regarding the reasoning for his expulsion. Martin, now a father of four children himself, said he believed the Thomases were probably disappointed in the direction of his life. He understands why they would be..... *** "I just wish they'd at least communicate with me — get to know my children," Martin said. "They raised me like another mother and father, so I wanted my children to know who raised me into the person that I became. I want them to be around for that, at least — to see my kids grow up." www.businessinsider.com/clarence-thomas-mark-martin-raised-nephew-son-jailed-2024-5

Now THIS is funny... Ron Johnson claiming that the FBI is sending SWAT teams out to find grandmas and grandpas who were innocently at Jan 6.. x.com/atrupar/status/1801019694465351997Johnson's characterization that the arrests of seniors tied to Jan. 6 doesn't square with the data. Of the 716 rioters that were involved that day, Seton Hall University found that mostly men (81.3%) were charged with 28.2% in their 30s, 23.8% between 18 and 29, and 21.8% in their 40s. Aaron Rupar ”On Hannity's show, Newt Gingrich claims that Kamala Harris, who graduated from Howard, has a law degree, served as California AG, US Senator, & is now Vice President, is a "really shallow, uneducated, & uneducatable person," & has no redeeming qualities other than a "weird laugh" x.com/atrupar/status/1801065293755625978?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

Southern Baptist Convention votes to oppose IVF.
I'm just up and seeing this. I have been a member of a SBC church for 20 something years, worked at the same one for 13. I've been able to live/work/ignore their thoughts during that time. I'm a Christian. However, I enjoy life. A bit of spirits here and there, I believe in both creation and evolution. I am in support of everyone finding their love. I am most definitely pro choice. I told my DH this week if I start hearing our members applaud this decision, I'll be attending another church.

Kyle Griffin…
“This was a unanimous decision.
The Court ruled that the plaintiffs did NOT have standing to bring the case.“
&
From the opinion: "Under Article III of the Constitution, a plaintiff's desire to make a drug less available for others does not establish standing to sue. Nor do the plaintiffs' other standing theories suffice. Therefore, the plaintiffs lack standing to challenge FDA's actions."

Seriously? “Loyal opposition “ to who? It threatens the existence to the rule of law? The evidence was presented to a Grand Jury who felt there was enough to issue an indictment, he had a trail with a jury and was found guilty on all accounts. Just exactly how was that a threat to the rule of law?
Igor Bobic….
”Ahead of their meeting with Trump, 28 Senate GOPers send letter to Garland complaining about the NY state case:
"We condemn this show trial, not just because it marks the attempt to imprison a leader of the loyal opposition, but because it threatens the existence of due process of law" paul.senate.gov/wp-content/upl…
Who didn’t sign the letter…
Who didn't sign the letter: Barrasso, Boozman, Cassidy, Collins, Cotton, Crapo, Daines, Ernst, Grassley, Kennedy, McConnell, Moore Capito, Moran, Murkowski, Ricketts, Risch, Romney, Rounds, Wicker and Young

Busted again and again, but not her fault!! Or so she says.. it is the media that did it!!! Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was busted again for vaping in a restricted area. The Colorado Republican wore an autographed MAGA hat to the Congressional Baseball Game and was spotted puffing away on an electronic cigarette in the stands at Nationals Park, where smoking is strictly prohibited, reported Politico. The Major League Baseball ballpark makes “no exception for electronic cigarettes or any other type of smoking device.” www.rawstory.com/lauren-boebert-vaping/*** Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) blamed media attention for making her unpopular — while conceding that's also what helped her rise to prominence. The Colorado Republican changed districts earlier this year after facing a stiff challenge, and she told KHOW-AM radio host Ross Kaminsky last week that the media had turned the public against her, reported the Colorado Times Reporter. www.rawstory.com/lauren-boebert-attention/
