Hi everyone! I have a bit of a busy day today ... I need to bake Molly's birthday cake ... yes, the infamous boxed cake with canned frosting! . It will be Devil's Food cake with chocolate frosting and blue sprinkles! Then I have to straighten up a bit around here ... especially clean the top of my stove ... Take a shower and air dry my hair (takes almost an hour) ... then get ready for my mum and dd's to come over so that we can go to the restaurant together to celebrate Molly's birthday ... I'm not sure what I will have for dinner ... probably the salmon! Yum! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I detest avocados ... yuck! . How do you feel about them? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Just got back from a walk with DH. We spent the entire walk remembering our vacation from day 1 until we left Iceland on day 17. My memory is better because I journaled as we went but sometimes the hotels are fuzzy until we remember a certain thing. Dinner tonight will be Tri-Tip roast. Yum! Oh, and I eat 1/2 of an avocado every day. LOVE them! On the third day in Bergen, we took the funicular up the mountain and were greeted by spectacular views. And a huge troll!

Big fan of avocados here! I’m pretty sure lucyg shares your sentiments about them. 😊 Ally is coming for a sleepover tonight and I have no idea what we will have for dinner. I went for a haircut this morning and will work on an embroidery project while visiting with friends on Zoom for a while this afternoon. Happy belated birthday to Molly! She is beautiful!

Happy June! Where did May go? It is raining so we are not going to any baseball or soccer games. I'll be honest, I'm not broken up over it. I think we are just going to spend a quiet day at home. leannec devil's food is my favorite cake. I don't hate avocado, but I never purchase it to use at home. I really need to go to the grocery store. Doing that chore, or not, will determine what we have for dinner. Have a happy Saturday, everyone!

I put a quarter of an avocado on our salad every night, along with a tablespoon of blue cheese crumbles and a tablespoon of low sugar craisins...makes for a yummy salad!!
Dinner will be a grilled rib eye which we will share, a baked potato, also shared and either a salad or cole slaw that I made earlier in the week!!
I have already gone out and filled my gas tank, walked the dog, power washed a fence and painted the recycle container that holds our bins....It now matches our house color!!! I also got some screens put back in windows, they had to be removed for the painter.
I will go to the nursery and look at tomato plants, my neighbor gave me a grape tomato plant, however I would like at least one more plant.

Good morning everyone.
Neither dh nor I likes avocado. It looks good and it should be yummy, but ick. Am I kicked outta the club?
The actual floor will go in today. Dh is sanding down the underlay as I type. We chose a luxury vinyl plank floor w/gray tones. At some point dh has to do the Lowes trip that he's been threatening for a few days. He has to pick up the baseboards and then go to the paint store to pick up the paint for the baseboards.
I have a video card coming for my desktop that will make my game run really well. So, dh promised to install it as soon as it arrives. This was his idea. Apart from that I'll be working on my puzzle. Dinner will pork loin, crash hot red potatoes and a mediterranean veggie dish w/our freshly picked snow peas.
Enjoy every bit of today, tribe.

Avocado = slimy green disgusting-ness.
I have sooooo much rechauffe from yesterday’s restaurant outings. Will create dinner from those. Also making matzoh ball soup today. Already made the chicken stock the other day.
First thing, though, off to the showers! Have a good day, everyone.

I love me some avocados. There is a sushi restaurant near me that has an appetizer of half an avocado stuffed with crab and lobster. I have to get one every time I go. cadoodlebug I think you get the best pictures. I mean sure the view is nice. But the troll? Hell yeah. I would have been all over that photo op. 😉 I e been scrapbooking. I have two more months in 2023. Then onto 2024 in my PL. I've almost got this one done. But I almost feel like I cheated because I printed the photos on a day I was bored and my hand was useless. The printing of the photos is the part I hate. But I'll have to warm up my printer here Ina few minutes and get on with another month.

Happy Saturday! This is my second Sat. this week because I went through the entire day yesterday thinking it was Saturday. Didn't realize my error until bedtime! Taking it easy today. Possible thunderstorms this afternoon so I need to get out and plant 4 new flowers that I bought. Just replacing some that didn't survive the storm a couple of weeks ago. After that I plan to just stay in my sewing room and work on projects. Absolutely no clue what dinner will be. Last night we just foraged on our own so tonight we might go out. Avocado = slimy green disgusting-ness. At the top of my list for most awful food there is!

This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I detest avocados ... yuck! . How do you feel about them? I like them -now..I pretty much taught myself to eat them because I didn't care for them but my doctor kept suggesting them. I haven't managed to convince the rest of the family though. Grocery shopping is done. Laundry is in progress. I have a phone call scheduled with my friend this afternoon but other than dealing with the dishes, I'm done today so will hopefully scrapbook. Dinner is easy -loaded baked potatoes

ETA **GypsyGirl**, I thought it was Saturday all day yesterday, too. 😂 you are on Pacific time. It's still morning for you. It's alright to stay tucked in. Karenlou and I are on eastern time and for me the day is almost half over with me having very little to show for it. And I'll just tell you that I have a wee bit of a psychological issue with the idea of "wasting" time. At least 4 therapists have tried to beat it out of me. I'm picking and choosing my battles and considering this issue unsolvable and small potatoes.

DH and I took Walker over for a playdate with DSs dog. They go like crazy for about 15 mins and then crash hard. Walker will have a good nap this afternoon.
I’ve been for a walk, vacuumed the house, done some laundry and now I’m going to read for a bit.
I have the boys again tonight and all day tomorrow. The parents will be home sometime tomorrow but I don’t expect them until late. The boys will eat before the other grandparents bring them back so I’ll take a leftover chicken burger and macaroni salad with me to eat there.
Please put me in the I HATE AVOCADO club. A local restaurant offers a delicious avacado chicken club which I always order WITHOUT the avacado!

Some members of our group did go on the hiking trails.

I love avocado . Half with salt & pepper. I mix it in egg salad in place of the mayo I’m growing pea shoots to put on avocado toast along with radishes and tomatoes. Add it to scrambled eggs. Guac of course. I think you can sub it in baking too but I haven’t tried. Dd started avocado trees for all of us for Christmas. It’ll be years before that produces.
Told Luke we’d go to the farmers market. He said we’ll get cinnamon rolls. He made them for dd on Mother’s Day and has been absolutely obsessed ever since. We stopped at Meijer on the way. Then when walking there we stopped in a bakery. Guess what he didn’t get- a cinnamon roll. He saw an M&M cookie and that ended it. We also didn’t make it to the market. Came home played soccer & basketball then ran with the dog. He’s napping. Tonight we have the petting zoo birthday. My niece is making an Italian buffet. Not sure how much I’ll get to eat with animals there. My aunts and cousins from back home are all coming too. I’ll see them all next week for my brother’s 50th birthday.

On my way out to Costco where I'll replenish the fridge & freezer - we're out of a lot of stuff. I'll pick up something to take to a picnic tomorrow, and somewhere I need to find some skirt steak for tacos tonight. I don't love avocados on their own, but they're OK in small amounts, diced up in a salad, wrap, quesadilla, or stirred into tortilla soup. However, I LOVE LOVE LOVE guacamole - we make a pretty simple one with LOTS of garlic, a little onion, a sprinkle of salt, and a dash or two of fresh lime juice. It never lasts long in our house. One thing I really dislike: DH dices a quarter of an avocado and adds it to his scrambled eggs of a morning -- the combination does not smell or look appetizing at all. I canot even be in the kitchen at the same time when he's making it - blech! But to each their own LOL! cadoodlebug - we LOVED Bergen! We didn't take that funicular up the mountain, but we did a half-day boat tour around the fjords and it was lovely - saw a lot of waterfalls and it was just so refreshing. We also took a helicopter tour where we flew over a glacier, saw lots of the mountain "lakes" (runoff), herds of [rein]deer, some of the waterfalls from above and the Troll Tongue from above (which was nice because we were not about to do that hike!).

leannec & all the other avocado-haters -- when DS (who has always had a very wide-ranging palate) was a kid he saw me making some guac, and commented that he sure hoped I wasn't going to make him and his sister eat that "gross green slimy stuff". I promised him I wouldn't and that I would eat it all to spare him from it (LOL!) -- fast forward about 10 years...he and both sisters love the stuff now. (DH still won't touch guac, but he'll eat the diced avocado as a mix-in with certain things.)

Wow karenlou you have been busy. Next to you I feel like a slouch today. 😂 scrapmaven do you have to get out of Dodge for the floor installation? Nah. He did the stinky stuff yesterday. That was the leveling paste application. Now it'll just be noisy, but that doesn't bother me when I'm prepared. I know that you struggle w/the concept of wasting time. Dh does, too, but in a different way. He has to be busy doing something or he thinks he's being lazy. His family was like that and no one ever sat down and just chilled out until evening. It's OK to relax when you want to relax. You work full time and it's OK to relax after working.
cadoodlebug, I had to fight from teasing you about the photos. I was going to tell you that the troll w/his arm around you was handsome, but your husband really needed a nose job. LOL. Where is the group planning the next trip?
Happy Birthday to Molly! Have a really fun birthday celebration, leannec.

Happy June everyone! Well, except for me, because 1st June = first day of winter. Boo! I LOVE avocados! My favourite way to eat them is "smashed avo" on toast with poached eggs. I add some sliced chilli and goat cheese, salt and pepper, and it is divine! Every cafe in Australia has some kind of smashed avo on the menu, ranging from plain to ever-so-fancy with a ton of other ingredients. We spent the entire walk remembering our vacation from day 1 until we left Iceland on day 17. My memory is better because I journaled as we went but sometimes the hotels are fuzzy until we remember a certain thing. I am loving your photos cadoodlebug ! It's good that you journaled as you went. I've been caught out before, thinking that I would remember the details, but of course you don't always remember everything. On our trip last year, I posted a lot of photos on Facebook, every day, with details of everything we did. It came in so handy when I started scrapbooking the trip, and making my travel video. Also, the photo stores the location of where it was taken (if you have that setting turned on). There were a couple of times when I couldn't remember where a particular photo was taken - so many temples!! - so I looked at the Info and it shows on google maps exactly where it was taken, including the name of the temple / restaurant / lookout point etc.

Oooops, forgot about dinner! I got home from the football at 6:30pm, after popping into dad's house to find a particular photo. DSO said that he was going to suggest going out for dumpling, but I got home way later than he expected. Bummer! Instead I decided to try a recipe from my new Thermomix cookbook: Cheesy Chorizo Risotto. It was okay, but not as good as I thought it would be. The best thing was not having to stand at the stove stirring the risotto! As I turned on the Thermomix then went and sat on the couch for 20 minutes, I thought of you jeremysgirl, enjoying the process.

Where is the group planning the next trip? Tease away, that would be hilarious! The group is going to Italy in September. Some of us aren't going because we've been twice with John's group. The next tour we've signed up for is the Greek Isles in September of 2025. We've also signed up for Portugal in September of 2026. This past one was harder on me (and some of the other people) because it involved 8 flights, 3 ferries, including the two overnighters which we loved, 2 train rides and countless bus rides. Usually we're in one or two countries maximum with the same bus driver throughout.

We arrived home after a long travel day and picked up broasted chicken and potatoes on the way home. We are exhausted. Just placed a Shipt order for tomorrow as the fridge is EMPTY.
This may be the first vacation where we have all lost weight (we were not sick).
