I have been prescribed a generic form of Adderall. My usual CVS pharmacy texted me not that they are out of stock, but that my DR needs to prescribe something else, so I'd imagine the pharmacy doesn't expect it in stock any time soon.
Before I call the pharmacy and my prescribing physician to try and sort this out, I am wondering:
1. If you or someone in your household takes a generic Adderall, where do you get it, and do you have a difficult time getting your prescription filled monthly? 2. Has anyone tried online pharmacies like Amazon, and if so, do you have better luck filling your prescription there?
Thanks for any insight you can offer, it is greatly appreciated.

In general, Adderall and the generic options have been in low supply and I've had periodic issues at my local pharmacy getting my prescription filled.
Amazon Pharmacy does not do schedule II meds, so they are not an option. I don't know about other online pharmacies, but I'd bet it's the same story for many.
If your insurance has a preferred mail order prescription provider like Express Scripts or something, they might be your best bet.

Try Costco. My dd was getting her RX at Save-On (Albertsons/Safeway) but faced similar issues. She switched to Costco and hasn’t had a problem.

Thank you. From what I have read online, it looks like the FDA approved the filling of these prescriptions online through November 2024 in order to ?help? with the shortages.

Thank you. I cannot recall, are non-members allowed to use their pharmacy? No you do not need to be a member. Good luck with finding your Rx. DD has really been through the ringer getting hers (not Adderall) and now ends up driving down to the medical center each month to a pharmacy there.

I don’t know about other similar pharmacies but Amazon Pharmacy doesn’t sell Adderall or its generics.
Medications we can't deliver
Schedule II medications, whether designated at a federal or state level, are not dispensed by our pharmacy. Narcotics such as oxycodone and non-narcotic medications like Adderall aren't available and need to be filled through another pharmacy.

One of my kids is on a Schedule II med (not Adderall, but similar). We had a really hard time for awhile! Our neighborhood pharmacies ALL suddenly couldn't get it, so I was getting it from a large chain near my work (even the chains didn't have it near my home). Then THAT pharmacy started to have trouble stocking it.
I finally put out a plea to my neighborhood FB group, asking if anyone knew where to get it (I did name the drug). Someone answered & I was able to get it regularly from that pharmacy - it was nowhere near where we live, but it was fortunately not too hard to go after work.

DS16 is on Dexmethylphenidate for his ADHD and we had issues this spring getting refills because Adderall users have been switching to it because of the shortage. The Walgreens we use had no idea if and when they'd get more for a refill. They did look around at other Walgreens in the area and let me know which ones had some in stock. The only one that had enough for a full refill was an hour away. I had to call the psychiatrist's office to get a prescription sent to the new location and hoped that they wouldn't run out before they could fill it. In the end I didn't mind making the drive because we were able to stop for dinner at a BBQ place we don't get to go to often because it's almost an hour away. However, I was thankful that his last refill went through just fine at our local Walgreens.

We've had a heck of a time getting Vyvanse, so I feel your pain. Last time, they were eventually able to get hold of the name brand, so we settled for that. (DS has used the generic for years.)

I take the generic (amphetamine salts) and have actually never taken the brand name because the generic is so much cheaper for me. I did have a bit of trouble last fall and they called in Vyvanse and as substitute for one RX. It did nothing. Waste of money. Since then, I haven't had any issues but I get mine through mail order and they seem to have more than regular pharmacies. I also use mail order so I can get the 90 day supply instead of having to go to the pharmacy every 30 days.

Thanks so much girls. I've asked my prescribing physician to resend the prescription to my local Costco. Keeping everything crossed that they can fill it.
