Hi everyone! Molly's birthday celebration last night was really nice ... we hung out here for awhile before going to the restaurant ... food was excellent ... then came back to the condo for cake ... they loved my boxed cake with canned frosting! Today, I will just putter about until it is time to go to my mum's for dinner ... the dining room is serving roast beef with Yorkshire Pudding ... I'm all over that! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... every single thing on this list applies to me ... some I don't have a choice in - like driving in the winter but others I totally believe in - I definitely don't care what other people think of me (especially students!) ... Do any of these stand out to you? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Sunday!
Tonight I'm going to my favorite DC restaurant that just opened here in Dallas. They only do steak frittes and it is so yummy. I'm going to introduce my family to it and I hope they love it as much as I do.
Hope you all have a great day!

We have a girls-only afternoon tea today. Mom, sister, me, two nieces (one visiting from the East Coast), and nephew’s girlfriend. Of course that will eat up most of the day, and I will still come home hungry. Dinner will be remaining rechauffe. Super easy. Maybe I’ll cook tomorrow.

We just got back from a nice long walk at Town Center. For some reason there were no ducks/geese on the lakes. Dinner tonight might be salmon. Our last full day in Bergen, DH and I were up really early and took a long walk. I snapped this photo that is across the river from our hotel. On our half-day excursion in the Fjords ~ really nice scenery. Tomorrow we fly to Oslo!

Good morning. leannec , Enjoy your yummy dinner. Prime Rib and Yorkshire pudding is delicious. Isn't this usually your Dennys breakfast day? Glad that Molly's birthday dinner was so nice. Hard to believe that we have adult kids isn't it? Sometimes I still miss having little ones running around. lucyg , your tea sounds like fun. Enjoy the time w/your family.
cadoodlebug, lovely photos. The top photo is one that your dh should paint. I'm going to pick up paint in a bit for the baseboards. Whoopdeedoo. Then I'll run to the store for red potatoes. I was going to make crash hot potatoes last night and when I opened the bag the potatoes had gone bad. I just bought them 2 days ago. I was not amused. 1 and 10 stand out to me. I do care what people think, to a point, but at my age I am learning that I don't have to be self-conscious about it. There are people who do not like me and vice versa. It's just a fact of life. We can co-exist and that's OK. I don't drive at night when I don't have to do so. Though I've been reassured that the world will get a bit lighter when I have cataract surgery, which is likely this fall. I'm in my 60's and it's been hard work to get here, so it's my time now. As for dress, I'm enjoying fixing myself up now. I have befriended Stitch Fix and I finally have a hairdo that isn't a hair don't. Now that dh has retired I think that I'm finally adjusting to it, as well. It symbolizes that we're in our last season of life and I want to make every minute of it a good minute. I didn't have the best start to aging, as you all know, so I am working hard to make the most of the time where I am not dealing w/a medical crisis. The bulk of my day might be spend being a nerd. DH installed a much faster video thingie in my computer and my game will now run much faster. (How's that for engineer speak?) Dinner is rechauffe pork tenderloin, veggie and crash hot red pototoes. FYI, last night we watched The Boys in the Boat. It was quite a good movie. Check it out if you're into streaming movies. Enjoy your wonderful today, my lovelies.

We are just home from our long weekend in Mainz.
Today we left around 9:30 to drive home, as we had to drive past the winery we visited on Friday to pick up our order, and we wanted to avoid the worst of the end of long weekend/school vacation traffic, as well as give ourselves time as Bavaria has been hit by MEGA rainfall. Just as well. The first 2.5 hours were fine - a bit of water over the roads and rain on and off, but making good time. Stopped for lunch and a recharge and then the adventures started. Our estimated time of arrival kept pushing out, and then we were diverted by our GPS. This happened a couple more times, until finally we were diverted by local fire brigade people. When we got home we found out a dam had broken in the area, and the freeway was completely cut off. We made it home, nearly 3 hours later than our original predicted time (even allowing for the lunch stop) have unpacked and started laundry and were surprised to find that around our suburb, things look relatively dry. Our plants have obviously had a good soaking, but there’s not sign of water in the underground garage and it’s not too mushy underfoot.
Dinner tonight is going to be Dim Sum. I have a selection in the freezer and we'll just get out as much as we want and steam it. Not too much - we have eaten SOOOOO much food this weekend.

I had my last sleepover last night and will be here for the day until the parents arrive back home. I heard from them at 9:30 and they were in Kentucky so it would be at least another 7 hr drive home. It’s a rainy day here so we are trying to stay busy inside. I’ve done all the laundry, vacuumed the house and done the dishes. The boys cleaned their rooms and the toy room (under duress!). Now I’ve given them some screen time since they worked hard in their rooms. I can finally sit and do some reading while they are focused on their tablets.
Apparently Walker is out of sorts when I’m not there. He doesn’t eat his supper and continually wanders around the house looking for me. I love that he misses me so much but worry that when I go on my cruise for a week, it will be difficult for him.
Not sure about supper yet since I could be here or I could be home.

sueg, I'm sorry to hear about the long drive home and the burst dam. We had an underground garage many years ago in our old condo. It was in the middle of a very large city. Something burst and all of the water trickled down to our block. Everyone on the street lost their cars. It was a big pain for everyone and for some us quite expensive. taylortroop, my boys will never tell you that they're bored. Nor will my nephews. My sister and I learned from the mistress of pain. If you say you're bored then I have something for you to do. Go clean your room.

I just made a pot of corn chowder and DS is going to make one pot creamy sausage pasta. We’ll have the chowder tomorrow.
We had a fun overnight visit with Ally.

I could go for some corn chowder, that sounds delicious! We had leftovers from last night as planned. We are all exhausted. Just talked to the bride and she said the same, but their digestive issues seem to be close to resolving.

Not sure what we are having for dinner tonight - we have a couple of different options. We all ate a big lunch at a picnic earlier so dinner might just be something small/light. cadoodlebug - beautiful pictures! Enjoy the rest of your trip! leannec - yes, quite a few of the items on your list apply to me

DSO suggested that we go out for dumplings, seeing that I got home too late to go there on Saturday night. DS came with us, and DD and her partner met us there. We had two different kind of dumplings, honey chicken, salt & pepper prawns, beef in black bean sauce, Sichuan noodles, fried rice. leannec that list screams to me "I have locked myself in my house and let myself go!" I'm not fashionable, I don't go to the gym, and I rarely eat kale. But I still do all the rest.

leannec - I'm not sure I ever did most of the stuff on that list. I do count carbs-ish and I do check the scale as I'm diabetic but otherwise, I'm comfortable being me. Dinner tonight is chicken patty sandwiches and fruit - I think strawberries, kiwi, and there's a bit of cantaloupe left. DD17 is probably going to make a burger instead - she doesn't like chicken patties? wierd.

Busy day and it started out raining. So no playground, zoo or walks with Luke. We read a lot of books.
I had tilapia with salad and roasted veggies.
Dh flew out early after getting back last night. Now I’m prepping for his clients who are staying at our house for the golf tournament this week. I was going to go to the lake but it’s also the arts festival and I’m a volunteer. Then Friday I have my brother’s birthday party.
I’m still following some of that list but not all.

I saw my neighbor was trying to fix the fence. A couple of boards were loose on her side so I went out to help. At one point she handed me her nail gun and I walked the length of the fence and was working on the boards. She may have created a monster. I want my own nail gun. 😂 Thinking of destined2bmom and wondering how she is doing. Sending hugs your way. Tonight was cheeseburgers and fries.

sueg, I'm sorry to hear about the long drive home and the burst dam. We had an underground garage many years ago in our old condo. It was in the middle of a very large city. Something burst and all of the water trickled down to our block. Everyone on the street lost their cars. It was a big pain for everyone and for some us quite expensive. The long drive home wasn't really such an ordeal - especially compared to others caught in the weather, some of whom have lost homes and their lives. It was more a concern of whether we'd have enough charge to get home, with all the diversions, and I ran out of crochet (again, a nuisance, but not life threatening) Nearly everywhere here has underground parking. It's just how things are, especially with most people in cities living in apartments. We're lucky that the area where we live in considered very low flood risk. The carpark in our building didn't even look damp when we got in yesterday afternoon. Most places also had some warning of flooding coming, so people were able to move cars and bring things up from basements in most cases.
