Sometime during the pandemic, I had (yet another) weird dream that I took the time to write down. Over a few months, I fashioned it into a short story and asked my daughter to illustrate it. She's getting a degree in animation, so why not use her free talents, right? It started off as just a mom/daughter project to do together. However... One of my bucket list items has always been to publish a book, and it didn't matter what type, just something with my name on it. My intent was always to self-publish on Amazon in digital only, but on a whim I submitted the book to a few places. And one of them published it! I couldn't have been more surprised. It may not be the most amazing book ever written, but it's mine, it's a project I enjoyed doing with my daughter using her talents, and you bet I put "Published children's book author" on my resume.  You don't have to buy it, but if you want to see it on Amazon, here it is: The Light Keeper For some reason, I had to fight with the publisher to put my daughter's name on the cover as illustrator. Is that something they don't do anymore? I remember book reports as a kid where I had to list both. They weren't even going to credit her. Weird. |

That's pretty special.
Maybe it was because your daughter is your daughter.
Right under yours are several with the illustrator listed on the cover. I thought is was normal.
No shame is posting, besides you are a long time pea!!

Congratulations! What a fun accomplishment. Yes, illustrators are still put on covers. So weird. I never taught/read a book to my classroom without giving the illustrator credit. My kids would pick books according to illustrators as well as authors.

This is awesome on so many levels! I've added it to my cart.
As a little girl I had heard the song about marrying a lighthouse keeper, and always maintained that I would. We always stop to see lighthouses when we travel, and I sing the song the whole way there. 😁 Dh has even made up new verses for the song about him becoming a lighthouse keeper who wants to marry me. 😍
