I live in a big city. We have an Amazon distribution center 20 minutes away. I am trying to order stuff for Friday morning. Nothing I can order will be at my house before Saturday. If I do a locker pick up 1 mile from my house it will arrive tomorrow. What is going on? What is even stranger when I add it to my cart it says arrive by tomorrow 8-11 am, but when I go to the final stage of checkout it switches everything to Saturday. I am having things delivered to locker, hope it actually shows up tomorrow. I need to wear it Friday morning.

Maybe all the delivery trucks are fully scheduled? I don’t even try to figure out their delivery anymore.
I posted before how something will be here on Monday, but if I pick my Amazon day, which is a Wednesday, suddenly my item can’t be here until Thursday.

I've given up hope of getting anything in a reasonable time frame from Amazon. It used to be standard 1 week delivery for me even with Prime. Now I'm lucky if they bother to ship my stuff within a week getting it to me in 10 days. Meanwhile Walmart, Chewy, and Home Depot seem to be able to get me 1 to 2 day delivery on nearly everything for free. And now we have commercials with Prime Video, so why am I paying for Prime again?
Anyway, I can't help you but you are not alone.

If I ship something to my house they can get it there overnight, but if I ship to work (which is usually where I need it to go) it's always 2 days. So weird! I live 15 miles away from my job. I guess in LA, that's far ... but still. I feel the pain!

I admit I don’t order a lot - but I feel like my most recent orders are delivered the same day (!) or the next. Sorry you have to wait.

I don't understand their delivery system. If I order an item & save it sent to my mil it will be there in a day or two. If I have it sent to my house it's 3-5 days. We live less than a mile apart in the same town. 🤷🏻♀️

My first thought is lockers are likely located in locations along regular delivery routes thereby bypassing Amazon logistics. This is pure speculation though.

I just gave up with Prime and their delivery inconsistencies and cancelled it. I am 20 minutes from the distribution warehouse where my stuff comes out of. Some days I could have walked there and back before I got my order. But the day I heard my dogs behind a locked fenced carrying on and someone screaming like a child, to only find the Amazon Driver in the bed of my truck while delivering, was the day I was finished. I asked her what on earth she was doing in my truck and her response was she was afraid of dogs! I told her they were behind a locked gate and she really should look into a new line of work.

Maybe just some hiccup in certain areas? Because here (Northern Virginia) my items usually show up the next day, maybe two days. In fact, I ordered something yesterday afternoon and I just went to check the delivery status because of seeing this thread.... it will be here this evening "by 10:00 p.m." (that seems to be their default time, which must be when they stop working, and things always show up before then).

What is even stranger when I add it to my cart it says arrive by tomorrow 8-11 am, but when I go to the final stage of checkout it switches everything to Saturday. I've had this happen to me, too. I finally noticed that some items say delivery in one day but only "with a purchase of $25 in qualified items". So it's not really next day delivery unless you buy $25 worth of items that all qualify. I really wish they wouldn't show that delivery time up front because I shop many times based on delivery dates. Just show me the actual, normal delivery time. Jen

Glad to know I am not the only one experiencing this. I was just shocked that something I would order Tuesday wouldn't arrive until Saturday. I have never experienced that with Prime, usually it would have been Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Especially weird that I can get it at the locker today.
Oh, and I was so frustrated last night that I forgot to add the pet food to my order. I just ordered that and it will be delivered to my house tonight. I don't understand.

Jen Usually my orders do say that, but these items didn't have that condition. And when I was looking at them it showed a delivery date of today. It wasn't until the final stage of checkout (after I selected payment) that it jumped to Saturday. I agree that they should have the correct delivery date when you first look.

I loved being able to get things in 2 days. This last year, everything is a week or better. I keep thinking "why do I pay for Prime?", but then I remember the free shipping. Just wish I could go back to two day.

My stuff generally gets here in two days, but I definitely have noticed an uptick in items (even common items) with scheduled delivery farther out, and the delivery date often changes mid-order.

I find that time of day I order for orders from the local distribution center matters. Last week, I was trying to order something on Tuesday or Wednesday to arrive by Friday. It said next day, but when I tried to order at 10pm, only Saturday delivery was available. When I went back the next morning to try to find a similar item that would get there on time, they could deliver it the following day between 4 and 8am.

For those that had the date change there is often a list of dates it can be delivered if you scroll down on the final page where it says place your order I just looked snd I had several dates I think there were three dates ranging from Thursday to next Monday. I have never used a locker. That said I have had items that said one thing when I was looking and then it’s the following day when I get to this point with no option for the original date. Yes it is frustrating.

We've been experiencing this, too, with Amazon. I want to cancel but my DH wants to wait. Why am I paying for such slow service?
