Good morning.
Dh is decompressing from all of the work he did on that room. He has baseboards to install, but that will happen this weekend. We're cleaning up stuff at mil's house. It's a never ending task, because we do it in spurts.
Dinner is rechauffe for dh.
What's on your menu?
littlemama, how are you feeling today? I hope that you're feeling better.
The Birdhouse Lady, how is little Hudson doing today? How are mommy and daddy? Do you get to see him today?
May today bring happiness for all and relief for those who are not feeling well.

Hello, my sweet friend scrapmaven! Did your furniture arrive? How is it looking in your living room? Are you just pleased as punch? Is Mr. Scrapmaven basking in delight, proud of himself for a job well done? My only meeting for today was cancelled yesterday morning. I am reading Harry Potter, enjoying my day. I am on the Half-Blood Prince and it is proving to hold my interest much better than the Order of the Phoenix. I'm on a mission. I want to see Harry defeat Voldemort. I also cleaned up my kitchen as I was very lazy last night after making such an involved dinner. But I will say that Chloe and Jeremy both loved my alfredo and that makes my heart happy. I have been sitting in a cozy chair in my office so I can monitor my email while I read and every time I get up from the chair, my dog, Ellie gets in it. I keep having to chase her away. Haha...silly dog would sit in my lap if it was comfortable for her. Ellie has truly been a good dog. However, she is right with me, every moment of every day. Never a break from her. She demands more attention than my cat, Maggie, and I thought that was impossible! But I enjoy having all of them. Animals enrich your life so much. Tonight I will be making a pork tenderloin. It is in a garlic and herb marinade right now. And then I will make some corn on the cob. That's about all I have energy for. I've been trying to provide some nice dinners for Jeremy because I've slowly been dropping hints that I'm going to abandon animal products for good. I'm really trying to soften the blow. But the fact is, it is highly noticeable to me that I actually feel better when I eat whole food plant based. And I eat a ton more vegetables and only whole grains which just makes me feel so much less bloated and actually fuller with far less calories. He is leaving for a golf trip on Saturday with his buddies. He won't be back until Wednesday night so I can basically eat whatever my heart desires without a lick of guilt. I can't wait.

Good afternoon, This morning I went back to the oral surgery clinic to find the results of my CT scan and talk to a doctor about what happens next. Well, the CT scan didn’t show enough, so now they want me to have an MRI. The doctor I saw also wanted me to talk to a more senior doctor, but none were available, so now I am waiting on callbacks from both the doctor and radiology. They won’t happen today now, as it’s almost 5pm, so hopefully tomorrow. After I was done there, I was really hungry, so I had lunch in the city and then did some shopping in the food market before coming home.
Dinner tonight is steak on the grill, fried potatoes and mushroom sauce.

Happy Wednesday!
My sister is having surgery today so would love any good thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery. One of my other sisters is at the hospital with her today and then I'll go tomorrow. We try to go in shifts and luckily there are 5 of us so we can have her covered. The hospital is a really big one downtown so it's a little intimidating to get to. I tend to stay pretty close in my small town and we usually go to the hospital in the next town which is very manageable.
I've been really nauseous since last night and I'm wondering if it's because I started back on Ozempic on Monday. Dinner tonight will be rechauffe kielbasa and steak with mac and cheese. Depending on what my parents have going on, I may have them back over for dinner. None of us felt like eating much last night so I've got quite a bit left.
Hope you all have a great day!

Happy Wednesday! Have just finished putting away all the outdoor cushions and umbrellas for the next round of storms. Has turned dark and the winds are really picking up. Hoping the poor leaning river birch survives this. The arborist can't make it out until next Friday! Today all I have on my calendar is a 2 hr. dentist visit. They will be finishing up the job with my veneers. Good timing as last night I took a bit of some dense bread and two of the temporary veneers came off! Fortunately I didn't swallow them and was able to hold them back in place with my night guard. This should be the end of the dental work though. Yay! On the creative front I am trying to finish up a needlepoint ornament for DD, which I think I may be able to do today. Have been really trying to cut my screen time and spend more time on projects (both fun and necessary) around the house. Apple informed me that my usage for last week was down 70%! No clue what dinner will be. There is réchauffé and salad fixings so depending on how my teeth feel, that may well be dinner. scrapmaven - You must be so excited to see the progress on your home refresh! jeremysgirl - Glad you are finding success with eating more plant based. When you give up animal products for good, will you continue to cook them for Jeremy? Also, are you giving up things like milk, eggs and cheese?

Glad you are finding success with eating more plant based. When you give up animal products for good, will you continue to cook them for Jeremy? Also, are you giving up things like milk, eggs and cheese? Yes and yes. It's really not a moral issue with me so I don't mind if he eats meat and I'll probably eat it myself when we camp because of ease of preparation. So I have no problem making him a hamburger and me a lentil burger or him adding some chicken to some of my power bowls. But I've actually been surprised at how open he has been to even trying some of my dinners. He's trying too. And yes, I think the milk, eggs, cheese need to go too. I have insulin resistance due to PCOS. And my blood sugar swings wildly. Like my fasting blood sugar at my last blood work was 65! I keep finding too that with meals like last night, with the chicken and the heavy cream and the cheese and then semolina pasta, I feel tired after eating. I am certain my blood sugar was skyrocketing after last night's meal. I don't feel that way after a vegan meal with whole grains and lots of veggies and beans and/or lentils as my protein. I've been subscribing to Rainbow Plant Life's weekly meal plans. It is $17 per month and there are three meal recipes per week + a salad. She has a really nice grocery list included and pages of potential substitutes and cooking tips. A whole set up for an afternoon meal prep. It's really well done. And her recipes are divine. Seriously, she is so talented. I have been so very pleased with my sub. I am making delicious dinners.

Good Morning!
I was up early and made it to the gym. Got home before the rain showers hit. It is much cooler today.
I just found out my great aunt passed away this morning. I talked to my parents and they are going to drive home for the service. They will arrive Friday for a few days. So now I need to get my butt in gear and do some deep cleaning that I have been putting off.
I am going to head back out and go grocery shopping.
I have been craving BLT sandwiches so we will have those for dinner.

Tearisci sending good thoughts your sister's way. It's on its way to over 100 today. I have a Hand and Foot card game at a friend's house so I made pralines for the other 7 participants. Dinner will be Teriyaki Chicken. Continuing on our journey, here is the famous statue The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark. Trying to get a photo of her, while throngs of tourists try to stand right next to her for a photo op, made me crazy. Next we toured Rosenborg Castle which was quite impressive.

I'm so sorry for your loss The Birdhouse Lady - Hudson is adorable! Dinner tonight is actually the chili mac scheduled for yesterday. DD17 fell asleep at 5pm and slept through until morning so I ended up cooking for DH and myself - seafood stuffed chicken breasts (Barber) and brussels sprouts plus the garlic cilantro bread.

I'm glad it's helping. I'm also noticing more vegetables is making me feel better as well. I'm glad it's helping you too. I went down a real rabbit hole at the end of last year when I read Ultra Processed People. I cook and bake from scratch nearly 100% of the time, but I still like a cheddar and sour cream potato chip on occasion. Then right after Christmas, I read Dr. Gregor's How Not to Diet. That book is thick! But he lays out all the science for a WFPB diet. It seems really clear to me. Putting it into practice, I can honestly say, I feel the difference. ETA: my blood work numbers have been elevated into questionable, not terrible, but not great, territory. My regular doc wants me to take weight loss meds. My psychiatrist is opposed to anything that alters brain chemistry. So I'm trying to experiment with changes to bring my blood work back in line.

stormsts sorry for your loss. scrapmaven it must be great to have such a handy DH that knows how to do all that work. Tearisci prayers being said for your sister. **GypsyGirl** stay safe ! Sorry to vent but my contractor was suppose to show up today to finish off the work in my kitchen and still hasn't shown up. Sunday he called that he wasn't coming Monday or Tuesday but would be here Wednesday. I'm done with him but I am being patient because I need this work finished. I'm so frustrated. I have no idea what we're having for dinner yet. Might just be sandwiches.

I feel your frustration! My initial contractor was that way. Getting the last few punch list items done were like pulling hen's teeth. A couple of things we finally just dealt with on our own because we were so fed up with dealing with him. The next project we hired a different contractor and the number of mistakes and code violations he discovered (and had to correct at additional cost) were mind boggling! Good luck, I hope he comes through today so you can be done with him.

That is the worst part of doing a remodel- relying on contractors to show up when they say they will. I went through that a few years ago and ended up firing him and getting someone who was a lot more reliable.

I wanted to share that we just planted weekend before last and all my gardens are doing so well. But this morning I was totally impressed with how my herbs are growing. My dill needs to get bigger but everything else is just all over the place. It's so awesome! I've never had a garden before.

Thank you for sharing the books you read - I'll have a look for them at the library. Dh is pretty game for whatever I cook and serve but DD17 has some food aversions and texture sensitivities that impact what she can/will eat although she's getting better at being able to identify them so we can work around them more. DH and I are both diabetic and while we are both on medications, I, especially, would like to continue to decrease my dosages without increasing my A1C so more vegetables are good for both of us. And with the family history of diabetes for my kids - setting a healthy example is important (3/4 of their grandparents also had diabetes).,

How did your eggplant come out Linda? Did it go better than last time?

I had a rough night last night dealing with some stomach issues. I don’t get sick or anything but every once in awhile during the night my stomach bothers me and keeps me awake for awhile. Usually a Pepcid helps and I can go back to sleep. So I ended up sleeping a bit later this morning and DH was already gone to the gym when I woke up.
I had a dentist appt this morning for a cleaning and checkup. My teeth were fine but the bill was $245!!!
It’s another scorcher here today and there is a severe storm watch right now. Like we need more rain…
I’m supposed to walk with my bestie tonight but it will depend on the weather situation.
Not sure about supper yet.

How did your eggplant come out Linda ? Did it go better than last time? thanks - yes - it was better than last time and I have a bunch of breaded/fried patties in the freezer since it made a TON. Eggplant is still not my favourite but it was edible and I will eat it as eggplant parmesan again. Next up is fairytale eggplant and I have a dip recipe I'm going to try for that

Tearisci - prayers for your sister I can't wait to have this bathroom done. SO just noticed the back wall of the shower is busted in the corner so now we have to go back to the store to get a new one. This should be easy peasy (said with a very sarcastic tone) Dinner...? It's still hot and humid, but after the rain that is supposed to happen this afternoon, the humidity will drop and the temps will go back to the low 70's, high 60's. Just what I like!

jeremysgirl I feel the same after having more vegetables in my diet. DH is so picky when it comes to vegetables so I don't cook them nearly enough. bklyngal62 it infuriates me when you are expecting a contractor and they don't show. I just got home from the store and picked up enough food to feed my parents thru the weekend to only find out the funeral services have been changed to next Thursday. My parents have not decided when they will make it up here. At least my fridge is well stocked.

Hi friends! Sending well wishes to all of you and yours.
Had to take Miss Bess to the vet this morning, as she got sick a few times on Monday and yesterday. I asked the vet if they could do another cortisol shot (which they did), and then they also suggested keeping the 1/2 prednisone daily instead of the every other day it would have been this month. He also recommended trying the prescription food. Girl lapped up every last morsel of it when I gave it to her this afternoon. He also did some blood work to check on her heart, so we should hear back about that tomorrow.
My own doctor sent in a prescription for some antibiotics for me because my throat is still hurting, as is my ear. She didn't have any open appointments, but I've been messaging her off and on about it for the better part of 2 weeks, so she figured it was time to try that out. She is a serious lifesaver.
Dinner this week is tex-mex beef stew. It's not bad...but it's probably not something we'd make again, honestly.
