Within a week she offered me a job that is a huge professional promotion and an even bigger financial promotion. I was in shock (and soooo excited!). She and her team created a new position for me and even had to create office space for me. Wow, congratulations! They must have really been impressed with you to create a position for you. Good on you!

Thanks, everyone!
I have 8 days left with my current employer and I have to admit, I have a wee bit of senior-itis! I'm keeping up with my work but I'm looking forward to my new position! I have one huge report I need to write for my current boss, but the next 1.5 weeks should be easy (hopefully). I'm taking three days off, plus the weekend, before I start my new job and I'm really looking forward to some down time, as well.

I had a similar experience a few years ago when I felt like I was stuck in my job with no room to move up. I started looking into different options and came across some trade schools at www.onlytradeschools.com/ that really opened my eyes to new possibilities. They offer a lot of hands-on training that could be useful if you ever want to make a switch or just pick up a new skill.

craftymom101 can we get an update??? How is the new work environment?? Is it everything you wanted it to be?? Thank you for asking! The job has been a huge leap for me, professionally. There has been a learning curve and some growing pains as I learn the new processes and procedures, but overall it has been a great fit!! My coworkers are wonderful, I like my boss and director, and I have zero regrets leaving my old position. I miss my former co-workers but I had to do this for me and my family. My husband commented a few weeks back that he is so impressed with how brave I am… leaving a job I know and like for a better career opportunity. I was (am!) flattered by the comment and I am so proud of myself! I have found that in the professional world, no one is looking out for me except me.

I agree with ur husband... its really easy to get complacent and to stay someplace safe and easy...
Im doing it... just doing my time until i can retire... lol

Congratulations!! It's always feels good when people want you!! I shared the same experience just now.. my current employer really wanted me to stay (after I interviewed with another company) and offered more money and incentive to stay.
