Good morning.
We accomplished most of what we wanted to do here yesterday. So, today we can chill out a bit.
Dh will have Chinese take out for dinner.
What's on your menu?
How are you doing sueg? Did you get your MRI?
Tearisci, how is your sister? How did surgery go? I'm thinking of you and your family.
May today be filled w/happy thoughts and all things good.

Hi, scrapmaven! You still at MIL's house? When you heading home? Got puzzle? I have one meeting coming up here in a minute. Chloe has been over this morning and doing laundry. My calendar has been slow this week so we had time to watch a documentary and talk all about it. It was quite fun. I've almost convinced her a vegan diet would be a good thing. Hahaha... I called my doctor's office today too. I have a check up with her next Friday and I wanted to make sure she called in some blood work that I can have done before we meet. If I am going to embark on this journey, I want to have a clear starting point. I've been doing things quite willy nilly. (that's how I do most things actually...lol) But if I want to get serious and do this, I should know where I start. Last night I ended up having fish. I just had a taste for a fish and chips dinner. So that's what I had. I'll make that pork loin tonight.

I graduated 58 years ago today ~ 6/6/66! Today is also the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Yesterday’ Hand and Foot card game was awesome. My partner and I amassed over 14,000 points to our opponents 7,000 points. Then we had to get into our hot cars which were sitting in 101-degree sun. Dinner will be Sloppy Joe’s. Today will be spent running a few quick errands then working on my vacation photos again. Today’s photos are from our free day in Copenhagen. DH and 7 others were doing a bicycle tour of the city. I opted out which DH said after-the-fact was a good choice for me. The 3-hour tour lasted 4-hours and they were often in traffic. Here’s a group picture of the riders. DH and I walked around in the morning before the 1PM tour and ate lunch near the bicycle shop. Then I made my way back to the hotel which was quite a distance away. I got in about 18,000 steps that day! While walking with DH in the morning, I snapped this photo of the "Painted Ladies Houses". I think our tour director called them that, I don't think it's the official name. While walking home from the bicycle shop, I took a detour and found the historic Post Office that burned a few weeks before our trip.

cadoodlebug , I love the photos. Great job cyclists. The painted houses should be another painting for your dh. Great job at Hand and Foot. WTG. The punishing weather is not fun. ICK. Enjoy today and stay in air conditioned spaces. jeremysgirl, we're heading home tmw am. We have a couple things left to do today and we'll play tourist a bit. I finished one puzzle and started another last night. Did your psych give you any suggestions about weight loss meds or help rather than Ozempic? Your physical health is important, but your mental health must take center stage, so that you feel good. I like the fact that you have two good doctors taking care of you. Nice that you were able to watch a documentary w/chloe. Is she often willing to try new foods?

My psych wants me to do intermittent fasting. But I can't because of my blood sugar. I did tell her last time (March) that I was contemplating a WFPB diet and she was supportive of that. Honestly the past 6 months, I feel better mental health wise than I've felt in 6 years. If I hadn't felt this good, no way would I have even attempted to quit smoking. As far as I'm concerned it's now or never. I need to seize the opportunity while I feel good. I will meet my psychiatrist end of the month. I'd like to have something to report to her instead of just saying, "I'm fine." LOL!

jeremysgirl, my sil does intermittent fasting and has done so for a few years. However, you have to do protein at varying intervals for your blood sugar. Wonder if there's a middle ground? Seeing that nutrtitionist will really help. You are off to a good start, because you enjoy the flavors in healthy dishes. When you make up your mind to accomplish something you do it well. I'm quite amazed by you.

Good evening all. A quiet day for me. My cleaner was in this morning, then I walked to the shops - this week is a shop each day for dinner type of week, as we missed our big shop on the weekend, and I've had school and medical appointments to fit in. scrapmaven - I have just had a call from the clinic I was at yesterday. They have me in for an MRI at the start of July, and I have the phone number of a neurosurgeon to call in the morning to set up an appointment, but it sounds like I am already penciled in with her for next Wednesday. The young assistant who rang me spoke English, which was nice and the surgeon has an Icelandic name, so I am hoping she speaks English too. My German is fairly decent now, but all the medical language would be difficult enough in English, let alone in my second language. Dinner tonight is tandoori marinated chicken thighs, from yesterday's market trip, which DH can cook on the grill. There will be a salad and I am also going to attempt to make home made naans.

I am making salmon cakes for dinner.. with a salad.
it has cooled down and the fog is on the coast. going over with dd to pay tuition for next semester.
off to aquafit, then some phone calls, then start redoing another album for my sister in law (she's the one with fatal cancer).. I took home 4 of her old albums.. 1 was finished last night and I have three to go. these should be easier as everything is labeled.

I'm quite amazed by you. Chloe is willing to try (and usually likes) anything. She is not picky at all. I have to keep a spirit of curiosity about things. As long as I can play it out in my head like it is a big experiment that I'm trying, I do better. And I think that I did a lot of work around my size, I think it's easier because losing weight is absolutely not even my focus. It may be a happy accident, but it's not even my focus at all. There are a lot of myths about protein and carbohydrates in regard to diabetes that I've been studying. Animal products can really screw with blood sugar. I did a very deep dive into protein lately. But I'm keeping an open mind. I just need to fully commit, can't do thinks half way and then try to isolate half results.

ntsf , you're doing a lovely thing for your sil. Enjoy the cooler day. sueg , you're certainly a very patient woman, but I hope you'll have answers very soon.
jeremysgirl, eating right is all about feeling well. I am slightly overweight. That surprises people, because of my limited diet. I subsist on junk carbs and it's awful. However, I neither lose nor gain. I stay stable. My doctors are happy, because it is too easy for me to be underweight if I flare. I learned years ago from a nutritionist, that's it's all about being fit and not about being a size 0. I'm not sure how I subsist like this and my doctors are always shocked that I'm still going.
Food can be an adventure for Chloe, since she is open to new things. My ods is so picky, but yds is game for almost anything.

DH and I went to a local restaurant last night for supper. It was absolutely pouring buckets when we left the restaurant. We got totally soaked getting to the car and then again getting to the house. Although it was torrential, it didn’t last long and I ended up being able to go for a walk with my friend. We made some plans to fly into Boston the day before we cruise in order to avoid any potential issues with the flight. Now I need to find an inexpensive hotel near the airport and cruise terminal.
This morning I went to the grocery store and did some laundry. Now I’m relaxing on the deck with my book.
Supper will be grilled chicken, Greek salad and potatoes.

you're certainly a very patient woman, but I hope you'll have answers very soon. I'm hoping the neurosurgeon can give me some answers next week, even if we then have to wait for confirmation from the scan. The man who called also suggested I could ask my GP to see if I can get the MRI somewhere else sooner - part of the reason for the waits is that it is at the university teaching hospital, which is currently overloaded. I also feel that if they felt it was urgent, I'd be getting in more quickly - that is generally how things work at the major clinics like this one.

Happy Thursday!
My sister's surgery went well but they didn't get to her until 7pm last night so she had to go all day without food and drink which was hard. They've fast-tracked the biopsy on the mass so we should have results tomorrow. Praying that it's not cancer.
Tonight, I'm going to a retirement party at our local Tex-Mex joint so I'll be eating there.
Hope you all have a great day!

Not sure who you are cruising with, but I took a bus tour after my cruise (ended in Boston) of the city of Boston. It was fantastic! I would love to go to Boston to visit and explore a bit more. I took this tour as it included going to Logan plus it used up time before my later flight in the day.

Leaving in a few minutes to take mom to a doctor appt, plus lunch and groceries.
Yesterday I had brunch with friends at a great breakfast place, ate a ton, and still managed to bring home one egg benny (actually a variation, bacon instead of ham, plus spinach). So dinner tonight is my rechauffe from yesterday. And I have tons of fresh veggies from my produce delivery. Oh, and rechauffe Mexican chicken/veggie soup. So I will have plenty to choose from.

@quiltz: The cruise line is Norwegian. Since we are arriving in Boston the day before, we will definitely have some time to explore. We also get into port early in the morning in the last day but we don’t have our flight times yet so not sure how much extra time we will have then. I’ve never been to Boston so I’m excited to see the city.

if you have time to kill in boston, a bus tour the day before would work, and if you have time when you get back to port, there is a walking designated path called the Freedom trail (I think).. you can see various historical sites along the trail.. or just check out NPS sites.. boston is really a small town.. you could just go to the North church or see the Constitution ship..

The other thing we did when we were there was the duck tour. That was a lot of fun. There’s so much to see and do in Boston that if you could even spare a couple extra days there I would do it.

Not sure what's for dinner tonight - my daughter still has a couple weeks before starting her job so leaving it in her hands! I slept terribly last night so am totally wiped! Good luck with your vegan adventures jeremysgirl - I was a vegetarian for about 10 years, but really struggled during pregnancy and nursing (probably didn't help that I was basically pregnant and or nursing continuously for 3 years. I was surprised that it really didn't help my cholesterol numbers (my big health issues) - I just have crappy hereditary borderline high cholesterol since I first tested it at 19 when I was a vegetarian and running 3-5 miles ago - just not something I can fix with lifestyle. Luckily my blood pressure is super low, so don't need medication, but it's coming.

taylortroop we actually booked a tour through the freedom trail when we were last in Boston. We very much enjoyed it. My garden is very happy to have heat, my PGE bill not so much! Just got a notice today telling me how high my bill will be. scrapmaven I am happy for you regarding your singing lessons! I remember practicing opera. When I was in Italy I brought home some sheet music, one being from Madame Butterfly, and my 90 year old grandmother with a very limited range started to sing it. We haven't taken out pizza in a long time, so tonight we will do so.

DSO had rechauffed pasta from Wednesday night, and I had the last of the rechauffed Indian food from Monday night. DSO was horrified that I was still eating the three day old rechauffe, especially as it was meat - he doesn't eat reheated meat at all. I have no such qualms. Speaking of intermittent fasting, I heard some sad news on the ABC this morning - Dr Michael Mosely (who popularised the 5:2 diet) has gone missing after going for a walk alone on a Greek Island. It doesn't sound good. cadoodlebug I LOVE Hand & Foot! I don't know how to play very many card games, but I do know how to play Hand & Foot. In fact, I am organising a catch up with friends who we used to play regularly with, many years ago. We're thinking of dinner and a card game sometime this long weekend.

I am super suspicious of leftovers and will only eat them the next day ... especially meat ... I'm with your DSO! You are posting so obviously you don't have food poisoning! Be careful girl! I worked today ... grade 7 ... one class was completely out of control ... not subbing for that teacher again! My mum came over for dinner ... Calgary has had a MAJOR water main break today so lot's of water restrictions ... gave me an excuse not to cook because we aren't supposed to use our dishwashers often ... we had Subway!

Marina , I'm singing O mio babbino Caro from Madame Butterfly. It's a beautiful piece and so tragic. She is begging her papa to accept the love of her life. It's awesome that you sang opera, too.
