I got my money's worth from a Creative Memories corner rounder. I've had it approximately 27-ish years. I have been scrapbooking since the fall of 1996. In the beginning days, I was invited to a "scrapbook crop" by an acquaintance. Unbeknownst to me it was a Creative Memories crop and sales party. The very rude sales person chastised me for using "contraband" and *very bad* products (back then, cardstock die cuts, deco scissors and Mrs Grossmans stickers ). I never attended a Creative Memories crop again after that. I bought the corner rounder, because the Hostess who invited me was nice (not her fault the sales person was so rude), and I always feel obligated to buy at least one thing from a home sales party....especially because there are always treats and snacks provided , and it's the polite thing to do. After 27-ish years......my corner rounder won't cut anymore. It's too dull. Definitely got my money's worth from that corner rounder..... as well as learned a lifelong lesson about home sales parties.

My mom gave me a corner rounder in 2003 before even knew what scrapbooking was. It has no markings on it, so I have no idea who made it. It's the only one I've ever owned and it's still going. It's red, and I would probably still look for my red corner rounder even if I bought something else and it was a different color, probably for months! It's like my oldest child (who wasn't born until 2004)

Someone borrowed mine at a crop and I never got it back. I bought a new one for full price and love it. Now I can find them often at our second hand craft store for one or two bucks. They are awesome.

That’s a trick that works with other punches to sharpen the blade.

My favorite corner rounder is old as the hills as well. It's unmarked, and I don't recall the brand, but it's a basic primary blue color. I've purchased newer corner rounders since, but still love that one the best.

I still have my CM corner rounder somewhere in my office. It was the first scrapbooking tool I ever bought, at a Creative Memories party that my mum had. It would have been in the late 90s, so about 25 years ago. I then bought the circle and oval cutters for my mum, and mum bought the circle and oval cutters for me from the same consultant, who got a good laugh over it.

That really has been a great investment @scrapbookmylife. It's good to hear about a well-made product these days. Hope the foil trick works for you.

I kind of loved the militant Creative Memories sales people. It made me laugh- I never was a Creative Memories scrapper- even then the strict rules seemed so weird. I just rolled my eyes (actually, or in my head) and continued on doing what I liked.
So did those sales people eventually cave, do you think? Or are they still scrapping the same way? I think the 1990's sales peoples' head would explode if they saw what scrapping has become.
Someone found a crate of scrapping stuff in my school- it has to have been there since 2001, when it opened. It is full of creative memory stickers and paper triangles and such. I've been going through it and it is amazing how little of it I still want. Everything else goes in the collage pile for my students to use on projects.
I eventually gave up my old Marvy corner rounder because it required more pressure to use than the newer ones.

Have you tried cutting foil with it? That’s a trick that works with other punches to sharpen the blade. Cut foil doubled up a few times, then cut doubled up wax paper 2 or 3 times may help sharpen the blade.

... After 27-ish years......my corner rounder won't cut anymore. It's too dull. ... While I've never attended a CM event or purchased its products, your corner rounder likely isn't done chomping paper yet! To re-sharpen paper punches, it's recommended to punch through aluminum foil (i.e. use multiple sheets or fold a single sheet several times to make it 2-3 ply/thicker) or an aluminum can (poke a hole in the can & cut it lengthwise to make it flat-ish, then punch over a trash can; be careful!) after every ~100 uses/punches. [Similarly, re-lubricating the blades by punching through wax paper is suggested after every ~50 uses/punches.] HTH.

I started scrapbooking in August of 1996 while on a trip to see family. My ex-SIL got me started in scrapbooking. She had been a CM rep, but was more laid back and saw no issue with using stamps and other contraband on layouts. In fact, she encouraged it. Her pages were gorgeous, and definitely not typical CM. A CM local to my area sent out an invite to a crop to get new customers, so I went. I was basically shunned for using non-CM tools and products. Like you, I never went back. I didn’t even stick with CM albums for long. And like you, I still have my corner rounder. I hope you can get yours working well again.

I bought my CM corner rounder sometime in the early 2000s. I used it a lot back then when rounded corners were trending. I haven’t used it in years. Now I’m wondering about what I can make to get some use out of it. I checked and it’s still sharp.

I co-hosted a workshop and got absolutely BLASTED for teaching the ladies how to make a shaker for their albums. I mean I used the CM cutting system, papers, punches, and album sleeves. So I was even using mostly CM product. I sold the crap out of that stuff that day and made great commission. BUT HOW DARE I ADD LUMP TO AN ALBUM!!

In all my years of scrapbooking, I had never heard of the tinfoil thing.
I tried the tinfoil, and it helped. Thank you for the advice!

I love this thread!
I still have several small punches and small wood mounted alphabet stamps from 20+ years ago, when I first started scrapping. And truth be told, they are some of my favorites.

Oddly enough I had the same experience (also got in trouble for bringing contarband). Around the year of 2000. My friend hosted the party and the consultant was pushy! I got the corner rounder and the scissors. Both still working fine. Never bought another CM product again.

I recently saw a banner on a pole barn type building that said something like Love to Crop. I was so excited. Took a while to find anything about it online, but it turns out to be a CM consultant. It's open for crops during very strange hours.
I might stop in to see what kind of vibe I get, but it isn't the scrapbook store of my dreams. . .

Money's worth on Distress inks. Some of them I got well over 10 years ago and then are stil going strong with no reinking. Just checked to make sure my CM corner rounder was in its safe little spot, whew!
