for less than half a million pounds. Seilebost beach in Harris, on the very western edge of Scotland, often appears on lists of the best beaches. Granted the water temperatures rarely allow swimming but it’s absolutely stunning. This house is right by the beach, but if you’d rather build your own retreat, there’s also a 0.7 acre plot of land available. 😊 Tarasaigh House

Oh gosh Lesley, you do find them 😊 It’s quite simply decorated but I guess you can’t compete with those views! I was surprised there were other houses around…I expected to see splendid isolation. The scenery/location is beyond beautiful 😍

Gasp! That view is a dream. I don't swim in the ocean, anyway (I don't like sharing a swim with creatures).

I couldn't live that remotely full time, but I'd love to rent that place for a vacation.

It looks like the setting for a lovely romance book.

Sounds beautiful but how is it on a list of best beaches if it’s too cold to swim?

Sounds beautiful but how is it on a list of best beaches if it’s too cold to swim? I presume because people do things other than swim at beaches? 🤔

Sounds beautiful but how is it on a list of best beaches if it’s too cold to swim? I presume because people do things other than swim at beaches? 🤔 I get where she's coming from. I spend a ton of time on the Oregon and central California coasts and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous in both places. While they're technically beaches, I'd never refer to them as "a best beach in the world" because to me that implies something different than what's great about them. "Most scenic coastline" or something seems more accurate to me. A "best beach" suggests a warmer location, warmer water, and so on. That's what the vast majority of people are looking for when they are going on a "beach vacation." That doesn't mean there aren't loads of tourists at the cooler climate coasts - there are - but it's an entirely different kind of vacation. Maybe it just seems like semantics, but wouldn't consider this a "best beach" either, no matter how beautiful.

I’m from Florida. It doesn’t compute. Maybe someone made of sterner stuff should buy it then? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 For real though, I rarely if ever actually SWIM in the ocean. At most I put my feet in the water. Exception was Sanibel Island FL. To me, it's not a great beach unless the beachcombing is worthwhile. Shells, sand dollars, starfish, sea glass, crab carapaces and claws, welk egg casings, skate pods, driftwood, etc etc etc. I want to find things to make art from and to explore. I don't really care about the beach itself. This looks a bit too isolated for me for everyday living but I'd love to visit.
