Gift bags and gift wrap - Storage
Bags, boxes, wrapping paper, tape, tags, tissue, bows, etc.. How and where.....do you store yours?
I seemed to have collected way more than I need, especially of the medium and larger sized bags (that I save when I receive them...but rarely use). It's time for a go-through....condense and get rid of some.
I am a gift card giver and use the small bags, tissue and a tie-on tag (so the bag can hopefully be re-used by the receiver).
I have mine in an under the bed box, that is overfull. I am rethinking my storage plan, my possible plan is: Going to use one large bag, to hold the small bags, matching tissue and tags. Going to use one large bag to hold a couple medium bags, matching tissue, tags, and a couple small boxes. The bags full of the bags, tissue and tags, can hang on hangers in my closet. The excess will go in the donation box.

I use the bag organization as you mention, but I have a bag of medium to large bags, a bag of small to medium bags, a bag of ribbon, bows and miscellaneous adornments, a bag of tissue paper, which contains the tape and tags.
They sit on the floor in my linen closet with 5-6 rolls of paper stading upright in a corner. Not the best, but easy to access via the sloset and knowing what is in what bag.

I have a large vintage steamer trunk. It is too tall to be used as a normal coffee or side table. I store all my non-xmas wrapping stuff in there. ive purged over the years but now that my kids are teens I should do another one. Unfortunately my "should do" list is long.

I use an under bed storage box also. Extra large bags stay on the bottom layer of the tote. The rest is organized into thirds. Gift wrap rolls are on one side. The other side is divided into two parts. Part1: Gift bags organized according to size in a zippered plastic storage bag with a moisture absorbing pack. Part 2: Ribbons, tissue paper, tape, pens, tags, old deco scissors and folded gift wrap.
Anything that doesn’t fit gets tossed.

I have one of those tall plastic bins made for paper rolls, and the lid is domed. SO I only have the bin maybe half full of rolls and the rest of the depth of that bin is where I keep bags, tissue, & rolled ribbons. Then I keep actual bows in a giant Ziploc bag that I store inside that domes lid. It doesn't not allow me to keep a large quantity of any of those things, which is partly why I like the system so much. Any extras that accumulate I offer up on my local Facebook Buy Nothing group or put into a donation box. Tape I just keep in my desk, buying extra before the holiday season if needed.

I went thru and sorted out my gift bags and donated the ones that there was a small possibility I would actually use. For me that is the small ones. Now I hang the small collection of gift bags I have on a plastic hanger (aslipping the handles around the hook part) and hang them in my guest room closet. For the tissue papers, I store them in a plastic magazine holder that was sold in Target in the back to school $ spot section. It's the perfect width for the way tissue paper packages come.

I have a box under the bed. It was designed for gift wrap. Unfortunately it was too tall when we changed beds and I had to cut off some of the top. I've been thinking about throwing out the little that is left except a roll of kraft or white paper and a little ribbon. The only gift bags I have are Christmas and I never use them. I already keep tissue in my craft room for gelli printing. At this point in my life, I do so little gifting that it really doesn't make sense to keep much.

I have a three drawer Iris cart. I guess I really need to purge.

I store mine in the guest closet. All tissue and bags go in one of those large stackable drawer sets by size/occasion.

I have 2 Rubbermaid type storage boxes. One holds all things Christmas and the other is everything else. I do go through them annually and purge what needs to be purged so I never outgrow those containers.

I guess the answer to the question would be, badly? LOL. I have a stack of slightly used larger bags stuffed in a hall closet up on the top shelf. They’re easily accessible, but most of them are younger kid girly designs which we don’t personally have much use for anymore (or ever, really, because most of DD’s friends have always been boys which is why they never got repurposed quickly after we acquired them).
There is another stack in a Costco fruit box of holiday themed bags of various sizes In the mud room. I occasionally use the bigger ones for gifts and the smaller ones make nice disposable lunch bags when DD would have a school field trip somewhere and they requested bag lunches with disposable products so they didn’t have to deal with hauling three totes of sticky lunch boxes back to school.
The tissue paper is all down in my studio/office, in a three drawer Iris cart. That stuff is pretty well organized.
Roll wrap is also in my studio/office, the regular stuff is in a closet between the wall shelves and a standing shelf unit. The “special” Santa wrap is hidden behind the vertical studs in the closet under the stairs. This wrap is only ever used by Santa. If I drop dead, DH wouldn’t have a clue it was there. I also have a giant, and I do mean GIANT, 8” thick commercial roll of red paper the my friend bright home from Pottery Barn when she worked there. They were going to throw it out so she took it home thinking she would use it but didn’t, so she gave it to me. I do use it sometimes.
I have curling ribbon on a shelf in my studio, I use that a lot. A have a box of vintage 3M Sasheen ribbon that my mom used to use to make bows for our gifts back in the day, complete with the bow maker tool and the little pins to make them with. I don’t use them a lot, but they remind me of my mom so I won’t get rid of it. She used to be able to get the ribbon in these huge rolls for about a quarter from the company store when my dad worked there, so I have a ton of colors.
Finally I have a clear box of premade stick on bows from Costco in assorted colors and sizes. Sometimes if the mood strikes I’ll use one of those on a package if I think of it.
I prefer wrapping gifts with paper vs. using a bag, although I will use a bag at times for the sake of expediency. I’m trying to break myself of the habit of hoarding shoe boxes in my basement, but they often come in so handy at gift wrapping time that it’s a hard habit to break.

I have a narrow closet. I use 2 spring tension rods to corral the rolls of paper. I found a 5 drawer plastic storage container at a garage sale, and I keep my other things in there. The 3 bottom drawers are large, and the 2 top drawers are smaller. I keep in my closet with the wrapping paper.

I have a three tiered Sterlite container that is really large. That holds everything that isn't rolled wrapping paper or a large bag. It goes in a walk in guest closet. The rolls are under that bed.

In my old house, I had a small curtain rod hung on the inside of my closet that held bags and rolls of paper. That was handy.
Here, I have everything in 2 drawers in a large cabinet. It works, but I have to sort the drawers occasionally.
