I do enjoy a good scrap room clean up video (on 1.75 speed). Most of the videos I watch have a lot of dedicated spaces for their supplies, but the people tend to scrap or craft a lot before they decide to clean up/put things away. For me, I tidy after every layout or two or at the end of a day's crafting session if I am done with a project. I currently have a double page layout sitting 70% complete for the last three days. I would say I could clean up in less than 10 minutes.
I have been watching a YT'r finish day 6 of a 10 session clean up. For me, I just couldn't let it go that long. I think she's been working on the cleanup for at least a month. I am not judging her style- she gets a lot of stuff done, but I couldn't do it. I would have to just clean up and organize before I started another project. It also helps that my kids are out of the house and the days are mostly mine.
So what is your clean up routine? On average, how long would it take you clean up by the time you think it needs it? I am not talking about organizing your supplies as much as at what point do you look around and say I need to tidy up. Do you allow yourself to keep going if it gets messy or do you give yourself a space to toss stuff that you will get to when you get to it? I do have a 13 x 13 bin that is kind of like a junk drawer, but the rest is pretty tidy. I think my craft room is kept about as clean as the rest of the house... minus the dusting.

It really depends. I find that I need to do a tidy after every few layouts as I start to get different pieces of collections, embellishments and tools out that I am no longer using and I need to put them away or my desk gets cluttered. If I was doing a deeper clean or organization, I could definitely see it taking much longer. I have (and I shudder as I type this) product sitting in bags in the corner of my room. Either stuff that I took to crops and haven't put away yet, or things that I have purchased and not properly organized. To be perfectly honest, I have too much stuff for my allocated storage, so that really hinders how long it takes me to sort through and put things away...there is a lot of shuffling/moving, and not really putting away. I can organize much quicker if I have allocated spaces for everything.

If I'm at a crop, I tidy up between projects, but at home, my craft area is a pit of despair. The only time I truly clean the desk off and put things away in an orderly fashion is when my sister comes out to visit (the craft/office space is also our guest room). Right now, my desk and space around my desk is amazingly clean and organized, but I have a couple of things I want to make so by the end of the week it will be a disaster again. I wish I could clean/tidy between projects but for some reason I have mental block on it. Which YT channels are you watching where they're cleaning their space? I'd love to watch a couple while I craft, maybe it will inspire me to clean between projects.

I am a pick up after every layout person. However I heard somewhere (sorry I can not for the life of me remember where) that this person likes to leave 1 incomplete project on their desk. This project being left out continually calls them to come in and work on it. Like, you look forward to getting in your room to do the next thing, and you always know what that is. It really works for me and I love it and sometimes pop into my room for short periods vs feeling like I can’t go in there unless I have X amount of time.

It really helps.

This kinda links to Shakti ’s thread asking to define a project. If I am working on a specific project like a gift album I clean up after that. At a crop I tidy at the end of the day, and leave my next page or card supplies out on the table to help me focus next morning. Otherwise I tend to leave everything out until I have finished a theme ( say Hockey, or Christmas) b/c I am going to be using everything again for the next page. If it comes to the point I can’t find anything, I will stop and sort supplies and stow my tools, but not clear off my scrap counters completely. I am happy working on a cleared surface just larger than a 12x12” sheet of cs LOL

I'm a clean up as I go and at the end of a layout person for the most part. And I hate the mess when I don't do that so...
I do usually leave the photos for my next layout (or a started layout) on my desk when I'm done for the day (or the online crop or...). I find that helps me jumpstart the next scrapping session.
Right now? I have a partial layout on my desk, scissors, adhesive, and my trimmer. Plus the papers/embellishments I've pulled to use on the layout. The rest of the kit that I decided against for this layout is back in the plastic envelope. It looks a bit messy but 5 minutes is more than enough time to clear it all off and put away.
I think it's easier for me to put things away as I go because I can reach everything in my scrap space from my desk...ok the very top of the Kallax requires me to stand up but...everything else so it's easier to grab stuff and return than if I had to keep getting up to do so.

I scrapbook in chronological order, from January to December....a scrapbook(or two) for each year.
When I am in the pre-layout ideas phase, I pull out anything I think I might use. I cleanup after every set or grouping of photos.
Edited to add: If I have any new products, that may sit in a pile for awhile until it gets put away. It takes me longer to sort and put away new random stuff, than it does to clean up "work in progress" stuff.

I could never let my space go as much as some people do, mostly because it's in the middle of my house, open to everything! I clean up at the end of a project, for the most part. It tells my brain I'm done, relax, so I try not to clean up too much when I'm in the middle of something, lest I never finish it. But I have a tiny space and mess makes me crazy, even though I'm the crazy person who keeps making the mess, so I'm training myself to do partial tidy-ups all the time. I look around and ask what can go back to its home, which is where I would look for it when I reach for it and need it, not on my desk. So for the most part all that's out are the unfinished card elements and maybe the stamps and dies I want to use. I worry that I will forget if things aren't out. But at least once a day all the tools and things I'm finished with, or couldn't possibly forget about, are put away. this person likes to leave 1 incomplete project on their desk. This project being left out continually calls them to come in and work on it. Like, you look forward to getting in your room to do the next thing, and you always know what that is. I tend to do this too. Especially when I finish a big project and want to jump into the next one but worry I won't know where to start. I try to leave myself a drafted card and a die set and some cardstock on the desk so the next time I walk by I have a little head-start. When I'm tired of a project I'll straighten a little bit but leave the next step front and center for the next day.

After a big reorganization or scrap room cleanup, when my scrap room is all pretty, I clean after every layout or two. Then gradually this drops off to every 3 or 4 projects, then it gradually gets worse until I'm the situation I'm in now, with a ton of stuff to put away from my huge craft sessions at Christmas and in early January, all of my birthday and Mother's day crafty gifts to put away still, and a whole new plan to redo my entire scrap room and reorganize everything. So, this is an annual cycle for me. July-early December my room will be in great shape!

I'm a standing, indecisive, & S-L-O-W scrapper & always "clean" as I go as a stall tactic for time to consider choices in the next step of my layout process, so it keeps my space neat & organized without the "need" for a lengthy cleaning session/s (or YT content).

My room is now two flights downstairs and I feel like my pop ins have lessened even though I have plenty of time. I've just moved and my fun space is now on the main floor - I thought it would make "pop ins" a thing, but it doesn't! I'm actually more prone to distraction (on the way to craft I see a chore and I tackle that instead). Here's my woefully tangential story I am a "clean as I go" person. I was firmly trained like this as a kid. My Mom would not, could not, handle messes. Like if baking cookies, I had to wipe the floor a few times during the session because if she came in and found some flour on the floor I got a big lecture. This applied to all things - home renovations, yard work, laundry, beds made a precise way, towels folded a precise way... This drill sergeant lives in my head rent-free now and while I DON'T make my bed (fluff the duvet counts, right?) and I DON'T fold my towels like she did, I'm still unable to leave chaos behind me. So my desk is tidied up every few minutes - tools i'm not using immediately put into their homes, scraps in the scrappy place, bend over and pick up bits of paper off the floor etc. I have an organizer on my desk that holds the supplies I'm using for my current project, so even though they aren't put away away they are out of my way and tidy. And you wouldn't know it to look in my room - it's not spic'n'span, it's not super well organized, none of the furniture matches, I don't have closed-off organization to make a room "pretty". But my scissors will ALWAYS be in their place!

I work on a round table, about 60" (I think). If I let things go, I have not area to work in. It takes me about a half hour to get things right again. I work in the basement, no real organization. I use old dressers, an old potato/onion holder, and old cabinets. Very unorganized to look at, but I have things organized where I can find them. No one else. One day I dream of having a nice space to work in...

I scrap on an office table in an open area of my home. I bring a small rolling desk over when I’m scrapping to place items on. Every time I change “modes” (ink, stamp, die cutting, etc.) I clean up enough to clear space for the next thing. At the end of my session I clean up the entire table. If I’m mid-project I sort the components accordingly and leave myself notes about where I left off. Then I return the small table I brought over to its respective place.
It’s inconvenient and inefficient in terms of workflow but I’m constrained by working in an open area with limited space and concerns about my cat. I’m grateful she’s not one to jump on tables but I always operate with an abundance of caution out of concern for her safety.

I tend to work on one album or subject for multiple layouts so when I am done with one pocket page, if I am not going to keep working on a new one, I do the following:
put scissors, tape runner, blue, etc in my on desk organizer
put all paper, sticker packs, embellishment containers back into larger Iris container. That can sit on my desk as I will be using it again soon
put stamps away if used
put inks away if used
put alcohol marker pouches back if used
set paper trimmer, score-pal, and any die cut machines used back in their spot
I will also push my chair into either the computer desk or scrap desk
Once a week to every other week, I will take the time to dust and vacuum.
Every season I will go through my papers and pull out anything I just won't end up using.
This helps me keep my area tidy and neat as well as organized so I am not loosing anything. Since the nook is at the top of the stairs, I like to have it that way. It also keeps me sane. LOL

I clean up after every two page layout, or card I make. Takes maybe 20 minutes. Don’t like to leave to much out as our dog likes to break into my area in the basement, and chews things up. Lost a couple of stamps this way.

I am a messy cook, and I was a very messy scrapper when I used to do traditional paper scrapbooking. My scrap room desk was always messy.
These days, my “clean up” consists of me closing my MacBook and putting it in the drawer. 😂

Sometimes I will tidy up after every layout - that usually takes 15 - 30 minutes -- but sometimes I will let it go for 4 or 5 layouts before I tidy up, and that becomes a major effort for me -- I call it a re-store - where I put everything back where it belongs. That usually takes 3- 4 hours, often in a couple of sittings because it is so very tedious to sort and refile so much paper that didn't make the cut, scraps, embellishments, alphas, stamps, inks, dies, paper punches, etc.

I have the world's tiniest work space right now, so by absolutely necessity I have to clean up every time I'm done working on a project for the day. In fact, I often need to clean up at various points during a day's scrapping, too.

I am a messy person. I definitely don't clean up after every layout. I'm currently trying to tidy up after every crafting session, but if I'm mid project I leave stuff I will need out for next time.
I do let things slide, though, and I'm a leaner and a piler, so by the end of December Daily my floor was covered, my desk was covered, my drawers didn't open because of stuff blocking them. It took weeks to get things under control this spring. I also had to purge so that my purchases actually had a home to go to. I'm trying to keep it from getting that bad again.

I tend to tidy/clean as I go, and then finish up after every project. I'd say most of the time it's done the same day as I started the project. Every so often I leave the project on my desk to finish up the next day. Because I tend to clean up during a crafting session, it only takes maybe 5-10 minutes once a project is done. Most things I use are within arms reach, so putting away during crafting isn't usually disruptive.

My craft table is also my office work table so yeah I have to clean between work/crafting. So I figured a way to quickly move a project while I have to work. I bought this tray at IKEA that looks just like a school lunch tray. I place all my do-dads on it and then I can pick up the entire tray and move it all at once. When I transition back to crafting all I do is move it back and continue to work.
Between projects, I try to put everything back in it's place and start again.

Based on the description I don't think I am the youtube channel but I do share clean up videos on my channel.
I tend to touch on things in my voiceovers for these videos that pertsin to *me*. I believe we are all different and we view/think about things differently and that is what us makes all uniquely awesome.
I am one that does not clean up after a project. I tend to work in a cycle of batches. I plan and print photos and map out my projects for the month. Create the projects. Take photos, edit the images and videos. Schedule all that content. Then do a room reset to get ready for the next month.
This works for ME. This makes sense to my brain. I share this process in videos as they are requested and because for some reason they seem to get way more views that my layout videos - so there must be an audience for that type of content.
I try to address that I am aware a lot of people do not work like me. They clean up immediately and cannot imagine anything else. Again, we are all different brought together by a hobby. I love all the unique differences.

I am all about the you do you mentality. I also think people that provide content have less time than I do. I wasn't knocking anyone's style as much as trying to see if me being a little obsessive over a clean room was normal. There must be a lot more people out there like me who like to watch a room get tidied. My favorite videos other than a good layout would be a good organizational video and I have watched you do those as well. I think I organize more than I scrap some months. Keep doing what you do and I'll keep watching.

I’ve been a care giver ever since DH had a heart attack that nearly took his life 3 years ago. I don’t always have the time or energy to clean up promptly, but I have been making progress on getting things better organized so that it is quicker and easier to clean up after projects. I really need to get the Ikea cube shelving that will hold 12x12 papers, but I also need to go through all the papers I bought from Tuesday Morning and get rid of the ones that I probably will never use. I also need to declutter other crafty supplies.
Getting rid of anything crafty is hard for me, since I don’t have any LSS that is within an acceptable driving distance, but decluttering scrapbook supplies is even harder.
