I handed in my retirement notice today. It's still 6 months away (they had asked for 6 months when I eventually decided to retire).
I started with that firm in 1988 and was there, working for the same main lawyer (plus always additional one(s)) for 25 years. I then went to the law department of an oil & gas company and was there for 8 years. I came back to the law firm in 2021, with the intention of retiring from "home". It's been a great firm to work for.
So, that's that. Big changes! I'm super excited.

Congratulations. Dh retired 3 months ago. At first it will be an adjustment, but you'll develop a routine and then you'll learn to love Mondays. Happy Retirement and have fun.

Congratulations. Do you have any plans such as travel or totally relax and sleep in for a while? What do you think you will be doing?

Congratulations! Last year I retired after 34 years of teaching for the same school district. I still dabble in the world of subbing, but I liked making my own schedule and choosing what jobs to do. It is so liberating to not be chained to a schedule.
Did it feel weird to turn in that letter? The day I turned mine in I kept thinking, “Oh my God! I quit my job!”

Congratulations! I retired at the end of January after teaching for 26 years ... I expected to work longer (I'm only 57) but circumstances forced me to make that decision ... I'm super happy with it! I sub a few days a week and it is waaaaaaay less stress!

Congratulations. What a wonderful thing to look forward to. 6 months will pass in a flash. I hope you enjoy your last 6 months of work while dreaming of the fun and relaxation to come.
I am so jealous. I will be 60 in December and would love to retire but unless I can find some kind of affordable health insurance until Medicare kicks in I am not really comfortable doing so. Again congrats, I hope you enjoy every minute of your retirement.

What a wonderful change of life style.
DH and I both retired 20+ years ago and let me assure you that there has not been one day when I have woken up and thought “I wish I was going to work today”. 😀
life is just like being on a permanent holiday and we are free to do what we choose. We bought a Winnebago and have travelled, enjoyed our grandchildren, been able to take time with friends and relatives without the confines of the working week. We have had hobbies DH has restored two classic cars over the years which kept him busy and I have been quilting, scrapbooking, restoring market finds - really the list is endless.
DS has had some health issues but we are both aging and hopefully have time for more of what we enjoy.
Enjoy your retirement - it is a wonderful time 🎉

Congratulations! You must be very valuable to them since they requested such a long notice.

Congratulations. Do you have any plans such as travel or totally relax and sleep in for a while? What do you think you will be doing? I won't be travelling much. I will visit my sister in B.C. more often, though.
I have scads of hobbies, so will spend more time on them. I also have a few organizing projects and want to purge the scary storage room.
One thing I'm looking forward to every day that it's nice out, is sitting out on the porch and having my coffee without rushing. That will be so nice.
DH will still be working for a few more years, as he's younger than I am.

I told my boss and department head first, although they knew it would be coming but thought it might be a bit later. And then I went to HR. I felt really really happy with my decision - it's been so out of control busy and I've been exhausted. It's time.
