lucyg, I am thinking comforting thoughts for your gentleman friend and his children. May they find peace today. He's very fortunate to have a compassionate and wonderful lady friend. That would be you. leannec, what are you getting out of this friendship? Have you prepared the "NO" when she can't find a place in time and needs a place to crash? I wouldn't even let her stay one night or you'll have a squatter.

I don't know ... we get along for the most part but I do feel like I treat her like a child sometimes ... she just behaves like one and makes me nuts! She will NOT be staying with me ... even for one night ... she has a cat and my house is off limits to pets! I am actually going out for dinner next week with a new group of ladies that I have never met ... hoping to make some new friends ... I'm not telling my friend about it ... I'm just tired of not doing anything because she can't afford it - and I refuse to pay all the time ... I already do all the driving ... |

Ugh this sounds like a one way friendship and you are paying the price (literally). Good for you for branching out and hoping to make more friends. I'm an introvert too ... meetup.com is a good place to look for groups that interest you ... the group I am meeting next week is a "Women Over 50" from Facebook Groups ... it's difficult to just show up when you don't know anyone but once you are there it's usually fine.  Give it a shot! |

I am sitting here rocking my 1 month old granddaughter waiting for the guys putting my new roof on to finish up. I have a feeling it may take a bit longer than normal. The crew consists of five Amish young men aged 13 to about 25. They are working their butts off. At least they were until the 2 20 something young ladies from across the street decided to sunbath in their bikinis in the front yard. The pounding of their hammers has slowed considerably!😂
I made a roast and veggies in the crockpot for my daughter to take home for dinner. I’ll keep a bit of that for my supper.

leannec you're quite brave when it comes to online dating and now meeting up with women for friendship. I'm not sure if I would be brave enough to do it. I hope you meet some fun women! jeremysgirl I love the sounds of your roasted carrot dish! will you use dutch carrots for it? They're my favourite. Yotam Ottolenghi has a few delicious carrot dishes, I need to find them and make them again. I can't remember whether they're vegetarian or vegan. I had an appointment at the hairdressers, so I wasn't going to be home until well after dinner. DSO said he was going to get a pizza for him and DS. During the day, DS sent me a text to say that Maccas has finally brought back the banana thick shake, as well as a banana and caramel McFlurry, and a banana and caramel pie. I planned to stop off on the way home from the hairdresser to get a banana thick shake. But DSO bought me a pizza as well, so I just went straight home.

Meeting up with guys is waaaay easier than meeting up with women ... with men it's a case of "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit" ... they are what they are and if it's not what I want I just never see them again ... no biggie! I've been in the dating pool for many years now so I'm an expert at weeding out the losers and fakes ... With women it is harder ... they can seem super nice and then turn on you later ... some are just not trustworthy and some are just plain weird ... I will admit that I am not an easy person to get to know because I find it very difficult to build strong relationships with women ... they always let me down in the end ... hmmmmm, what is the common denominator here? Me! Hahahahaha!!!  We'll see what happens next week at this women's dinner ... and I might have a date on Friday with a new guy ... he's really good looking so might be out of my league!  |
