Watched the first four and was trying to remember the last two seasons. Went back to watch them before I watch the second half of season 3. I forgot how much Cressida was in season one.

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgot. I’ll only watch if I’m on the treadmill, bike, rowing machine or lifting weights. Definitely makes sure I will exercise 😁

I'm so tempted to re-up my subscription for this. SO TEMPTED. Especially since it's injection weekend and I'll be in bed all weekend. I am trying to hold off until the new season of The Witcher drops but I may cave

Just finished. No spoilers, just that I quite enjoyed the second half of the season and look forward to season four. There will be a season four, right?

There will be a season four, right? I would think so with as huge of a following as the show has. Plus the actors playing Pen and Colin have been hustling their butts off promoting the show. If you follow Nicola Coughlan on Instagram I spit coffee at her photo this morning. Plus as a reader of the books they have several more stories to tell and they have set up several of them nicely.

OMG I'm a mess..... I was watching/listening while piping cookies and finishing a cake. I can't imagine how much "more" I'd be if I had been watching 100%!! Spoiler: I called it after the first 4 episodes - the sisters had girls and Penelope & Colin had the boy! LOL

I enjoyed this season but have a question about how it ended: What was up with the look Francesca gave her husband’s cousin when she was introduced as they departed for Scotland? It almost seemed like a love-at-first-sight exchange?

It almost seemed like a love-at-first-sight exchange? I'm going to put the answer in a spoiler as well, DO NOT read if you don't want to know what happens to Francesca in the books. So in the book, Francesca's husband (John) dies after only a few years of marriage. They had tried to have kids and she was actually pregnant when he died but soon looses the baby. You meet his cousin (male in the book), who develops feelings for Francesca while John is still alive, so he stays away but is forced to come back when John dies as he's now head of the family. She develops feelings for him and they wind up together.
I suspect what's going to happen is Francesca has that stumble over her words attraction (like the one Violet was talking to her about) to this John's cousin and they'll get together in a future season. I had read somewhere that Shonda wanted to explore same sex relationships with one of the siblings. If they stay "true" to the book this may be what they were talking about.

The only reason I know anything about it is I've read Francesca's book and know that version of the story. Of course, this is all just conjecture at this point but the way they introduced her and the "dramatic beat" it took when he did leads me to think this is the way they're going.

I have no problem with the changes they've made to Francesca's eventual love story *except* this - in an earlier episode, after she and John announced their engagement, someone commented that they though she'd choose someone who would "bring her out of her shell a bit more." The new character who will be her eventual love interest clearly is a more assertive and extroverted character. But I don't like the implication that there's something wrong with Francesca and John's introversion and possible neurodivergence.

Did anyone else catch Eloise's line to Benedict that she would be back in a year because she couldn't miss her mother's masquerade ball? Clearly that will be the ball where Benedict first sees Sophie.

Yes, but I've heard it wont be for two years. Not sure why. Apparently it's the process: People Magazine ArticleFrom the article: I appreciate the quality of the show from the crazy wigs to the incredible gowns and ballroom sets. I read an article yesterday that said all of the actors have to learn every dance and even Siena from season 1 had to learn to sing opera. Francesca learned to play the piano. All of that definitely takes time. It's just a shame that for 2 years they only do 8 episodes. Back in the network TV days you'd get 20 episode seasons. Then with streaming it was 12-15 and now 8-10 is more common. It would be great if they could go to at least 10-12 episodes per 2 year wait.

I started the second half last night; I’ve been watching Bodkin and I thought it would be a colorful break. I do love Penelope and Colin, but I am finding this season to be a little draggy—it is still beautiful but it feels emptier. Still looking forward to finishing it.

I think it's more likely that Siena had to learn to convincingly appear to sing opera, and the same for Francesca and piano. You can always tell in a show when someone has no idea what it looks like to play/sing in the style they're acting. But to say that they quickly learned something that takes others years or decades to learn - that seems unlikely.

Essentially the actress that played Siena had to actually learn to sing it so that the lip syncing looked realistic. It said that her opera singing is up on youtube and apparently isn't great. But I sure wouldn't expect it to be after learning in a rush. The piano playing was the same thing, they wanted the actors to actually BE playing (doesn't mean they have to do it well). It also mentioned the horseback riding styles they were required to learn and that they actually went through debutant training. I wish I could find the link, it was an interesting read.
