Planning a tentative trip to NoLa in October over Columbus Day. It will be me, my BFF sister and DS. I've never been before so I'd like to know good places to stay, eat and things to see. Not a ton of walking if possible as I have a bad back.
Thanks!

If you have time while you are there, the National WWII Museum is in New Orleans. It's in NOLA because Higgins Boats were designed there and 80-90% were manufactured in the area. It's also worth the extra money to see the short movie with Tom Hanks (Beyond All Boundaries). www.nationalww2museum.org/

When we were there, the movie with Tom Hanks was included in the price of admission. We learned so much that we had never heard before. Other tips: Skip Bourbon Street but walk down Royal and near St. Louis Cathedral. Stop at Cafe du Monde for beignets. I'll be back with more suggestions.
