I moved back home from Hong Kong with a ton of Asian stuff, furniture, art, rugs, statues, pottery, all of which I love. I've incorporated it into my modern decor. After I dragged all this stuff halfway across the world, Home Goods went on an Asian kick so it's not as unique as I had imagined.

No, themes are not my style at all. I find them a bit tacky tbh. I literally said "Ouch!" out loud when I read that. It is all good, though. My bathroom makes me happy because it is all about my vacations at Rehoboth Beach through the years. We are going next weekend, actually. Every time I go in the bathroom I get happy thoughts. I have a happy thought bathroom. Every morning I look at my beautiful framed photo of the kids on vacation when they were really little. It is good to start the day with happy. I love Alice in Wonderland, The Office, succulents, etc. I forgot, my The Office office is double themed- all of the furniture and accessories are mid-century modern. Not every room in my house has a theme, but those rooms make me happy. It isn't the first time I've been accused of being tacky. I'm amazed that more people don't have themes. When I look at the decorating magazines on the grocery store stands, a lot of the rooms have themes. But maybe I'm attracted to those kind of decorating magazines.

The only theme is whatever we like. We’re not a fan of them. For kids’ rooms, fine.

I have a few seasonal themes I do at the end of the year. We live on the side of a mountain and my house is probably more nature themed in general. One of my bedrooms is more nautical and the other more "modern grizzly bear." I built my kitchen around a nature on the inside. When my kids were young, they had amazing, themed rooms.

I had nautical-themed bathrooms, with many lighthouse or seashell accents, gathered from family trips.

So bummed. I had a huge post typed out, and it disappeared! 😳
I do decorate by theme, except for in the kitchen/living room/dining room which are mostly just florals.
*Guest room- travel: mostly pics of our travels with a sign I made out of metal letter tiles that spell out TRAVEL, and a map above the bed that has gemstones marking all of the places we have traveled. *Guest bath- bright colors with crazy owls *Master bath- birds *Scrap room- mostly crafty themed with bright colors *DH’s office- jazz/music *The most themed is my clay room. It’s FRIENDS/NY themed 13 character Funko Pops, orange chair with essence pillow, I’ll be there for you vinyl phrase, apartments, Central Perk and NY skyline LEGO sets, sarcastic comment/apartment building/Central Perk metal art, drawing of Ross sitting on a moist maker sandwich framed in the yellow frame, purple mini fridge with yellow frame, mugs, kitchen utensils with FRIENDS scenes burned into them, wooden letters that spell outFRIENDS with the colored dots in between them, FRIENDS welcome sign nice my desk, a FRIENDS frame with a pic of me, my DH, my bestie and her DH on the orange couch at the traveling FRIENDS Experience, a poster from the Lion King Broadway show signed by all of the cast members, a metal sign with Metro information , and on the outside of that bedroom door is another yellow fram with an o sticker in the middle for the “peep hole”.

I like themed rooms, and have a few. My scrapbook room is full of items from my travels to Tombstone AZ, the surrounding areas, and the movie. I have a sign on the door that says Tombstone Sheriff's office (its fake, but I like it) and so I call my scrapbook room the sheriff's office.
One bathroom is cacti/AZ stuff, mostly saguaro cacti
One bathroom is patriotic all red/white/blue stuff
I have a lot of navy blue in the rest of the house, as its my favorite color. I like plaids and gingham and buffalo check so you will see that throughout.
My fave themed room of all time (probably because of the $$$ he invested) was an Arizona State University sports "man cave" my cousin did. It was gorgeous.

Yay! Another theme person. For a minute there I thought I was extremely weird. Okay, I am extremely weird, but whatever... I noticed you said "clay room" and that probably explains a lot. Maybe it is an artist/artsy people thing. I love how you have a Friends room. I'm not a fan of Friends but I appreciate the commitment to the theme - another person that has Funko Pops and Lego sets. I thought about doing a The Office themed bathroom. I've seen some cute things done with that.

Well, I do like weird and eclectic things and they are mainly in the basement area, so maybe that fits your use of "themed"? It's definitely artsy. The upstairs is more tame.
My dollhouses have themes! There is a haunted Halloween one, Christmas where Wolverine, Magneto, Professor Xavier, and Mystique live, Easter where the Cat Lady figure lives, one under construction where Pennywise lives, PeePaw's house full of 70s stuff and mismatched furniture where he lives alone because MeeMaw died though her touches are still evident in the pink frilly stuff in the bathroom and the floral bedspread; his attached garage was turned into a trap house by his shitty renters and is full of drugs and guns and a filthy mattress and has crime scene tape and a body in a bag and a meth cooking stove and WWE wrestlers as the Bad Guys, plus a lady who is the kingpin; I've got one filled with 1960s Pretty Princess furniture and looks like old photos of Jayne Mansfield's house; and last but not least, my more modern dollhouse that is full of THINGS MOMS CRAVE and looks like Home Goods meets Thrift Store, much like my own house. The Rock spends his time between there and the Cat Lady's house.
I hope you enjoyed that. The back stories are the most fun part.

I do not really decorate in themes, though my home leans very heavily into a modern coast farmhouse look -- light wood furniture, lots of cream/white neutrals, and navy with touches of black for grounding. It's very laid back and has a very open feeling. No clutter, limited decor except whats styled on my wood and glass cabinet that DH commissioned for me.
My master bedroom is decorated in creams, whites and touches of various blues.
Really my whole home is decorated like this except my scrapbook room. There I've used reds, yellows, blues and greens.

No, I don’t decorate my home at all, except for Christmas. My decor is minimal. However, yesterday I saw some pictures of leannec’s seasonal decor, and I was inspired. I spent the afternoon making two winter themed layouts in Photoshop, that I am going to print out and display in my lounge room. I’m going to try to find some winter themed decor as well.

I do! I do! My whole house is pretty delightfully tacky, it is a whole vibe here. We are collectors and have a lot of cool stuff. I do mid century modern kitsch in the main part of the house. Dining room is vintage kitsch, lots of Lefton Miss Priss, anthropomorphic cats and fruits and odd stuff. Lots of vintage shadow boxes w kitsch. My office is decorated in vintage toys. My husband has the basement and it is like a 70’s explosion. We are going to do the one bathroom in vintage cats if I ever commit to what I want to hang. We had a bathroom previously that was all Miller chalkware fish. I just had my bathroom gutted and redone. It has pink tile w glitter grout, pink walls, and vintage Strawberry Shortcake and strawberries, the weirder the better. Really my theme is stuff we love. I don’t want a house that is like every house on my street, I want happy stuff I love which tends to be vintage and tacky lol. Your house sounds awesome!

I have definitely decorated with themes in the past. When we built this house in 1999, my kitchen was patriotic right down to red countertops. It’s been redone since then and no longer has a theme and is neutral colors. I was very into the lodge/cabin/black bears look for awhile but that’s gone now too. The only theme I have left is the hall/guest bathroom. It has a sun, moon and stars theme. The colors are navy and gold and silver. I painted it recently and debated getting rid of the theme but I love it so I kept it.

Yes, of course! My kitchen is decorated in Does Anyone Here Know How to Load a Dishwasher?. My living room is Dust Bunnies Are Your Friend. My bathrooms are decorated in toothpaste on porcelain. And my all time favorite is Climb Every Mountain (of Laundry) Room.

I do like to do themes sometimes. right now my living room is teal flowers and I'm doing watermelons in the kitchen. I've been told themes are tacky and that the whole house should be done to coordinate together. I just think that's boring so I like keeping rooms looking a little different from each other.

Not really.. I'm horrible though. Right now, I guess my kitchen area is like a Fiesta dishware meets Pioneer Woman meets my love of Starbucks travel coffee cups. LOL...
I haven't thrown up Pioneer Woman all over the place, just touches of her things mixed with Fiesta colors. They work well together. Then I have my coffee cups in a china cabinet also mixed with Fiesta pieces, which actually work well together. At least I think so.
The rest of the house is like a hodge podge. I am hoping if we move I'll just end up trying to start over with everything kinda matching. It started out sorta Italian themed, dark and brown'ish, yeah know early 90s look. My bedroom is like everything that has been passed down has ended in this room. I hate it.
I would love to have an office that is The Office theme though! I LOVE that idea. Definitely now in the back of my head if I ever get there.

But I'm kind of picky about it, if that makes any sense at all. No resin, must be made in US, Japan, Mexico, or Italy. Catholic kitsch, esp Mexican or Irish; MCM plaster or china animals/female figures and fashion dolls; 70s mushrooms, eagles, owls, and patriotic bicentennial crap; 80s things that remind me of being a kid. Any type of vintage ONLY framed butterflies or small taxidermy. Artwork and needlepoint in round or oval frames are great, especially gilt frames. Old glass, wood, and metal objects that I can arrange in assemblage projects. Glass fairy lamps (candle holders)--I have a dozen but will always buy more. They're so magical in a nice summer evening on the deck. I don't do furniture from any of these eras though. Especially not those hideous 70s harvest couches. I have suffered enough of those in my grandpa's house and in my in-laws' house. Would totally put a miniature one in PeePaw's house (my 70s dollhouse). I would love your cat bathroom!

I would love to see photos of your themed rooms.
I keep saying that when we get round to redoing the bathroom, I want a beach hut theme. It already has panelling on the walls. It will happen, one day. Maybe!
Other than that, the only themed decor that I have is a white tree at the bottom of the stairs which I change out with seasonal decorations when I can be bothered. I now have a string of fairy lights that runs down the stairs and into the tree at the bottom, and those are now mains powered so they come on in the evenings from sunset to bedtime, lighting the dark staircase. I love that.

I was about to say no, but I guess I kind of do. The art work and decorations in my dining room is beach and wedding...but our wedding was at the beach. Our living room has artwork that is mostly from New Orleans. Our bedroom has a section with artwork we bought on our honeymoon intermingled with pictures from the same. My office has a Harry Potter bookshelf and a wand display on the wall.

No themes. I barely decorate. It’s all about function.
At present, the house is puppy friendly. That is as close to a theme as it gets. 😂

My themes are more accidental than by design. My craft room is a veritable treasure trove of Lego, because I made the mistake of suggesting to DS that we put in an additional desk and Kallax there, as his bedroom is pretty small and he can’t build in it. I’ve had to prune my craft stuff as a result. 🤦🏼♀️
There are Lego pieces all over the house too - the Haunted House, and Everyone Is Awesome set are at the top of the stairs, the typewriter and Blacksmith's cottage are in the living room. Oh, the Disney 100 Villains set is currently residing here too. Central Perk is on top of the washing machine. 🤔
My bathroom is finely draped in DS's beard hair (there are little touches of this theme appearing in other places too). I keep dead flower petals under the sideboard in the living room, and mushy bananas have been known to take up residency in all sorts of odd places. It’s actually rather sweet. 😉

artbabe Your house sounds interesting and lovely. I would never judge anyone for decorating in a manner that makes one happy! I have a flamingo theme in my guest bathroom with one piece of flamingo art and flamingo towels. I live in Minnesota, not Florida, so some may find it tacky. I love it. I do decorate with a few pieces for Easter and autumn, plus a normal amount for Christmas.
