Hi everyone! Oh, and Happy Father's Day! Now that I am divorced and I don't have contact with my father it is not a holiday I celebrate ... but if you do, what are you doing today for the father/father's in your life? The weather here is super yucky today ... overcast, threatening to rain, windy ... blech! I just want to crawl back into bed! Maybe I will in awhile! No big plans today ... Calgary is under a State of Emergency because of the water situation so we are not allowed to take long showers, bubble baths or do unnecessary laundry, etc. Everyone's flowers are struggling. . It could last another five weeks! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I actually spent less than $200 at Costco recently which is a freaking miracle! I'm going to my Mum's retirement residence for dinner tonight ... we are having prime rib with Yorkshire Pudding ... so yummy! I have to do a few small repairs/household things for her while I'm there ... What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Good evening We had a busy morning as it was Confirmation day at our church. It was a bit unusual for us, as the Cardinal Archbishop of Munich came to celebrate the Mass with us after our usual Abbott had a clash of dates. There was more protocol we had to follow, but it went so smoothly and his sermon was great and well targeted to his audience. DH was asked by our priest to be available to help, so I got to take on photo duties for the day. For big sacrament Masses like this, we have two ‘official’ photographers and we take hundreds of photos between us, including individual and family photos for all the children involved. Dinner tonight is lasagne, which DH is preparing right now. Once again, we are watching the Euro football - big game tonight will be Serbia v England and the police in Gelsenkirchen where it is being played are expecting a busy night!

Good morning.
One time when I was 5 my neighbor told me that her dad has $100 and I thought they were millionaires. Your meme rings very true. Enjoy your prime rib and Yorkshire pudding. Yummy.
Ods will leave in an hour or so. It was nice to have him home last night. Today will be a stay-at-home day w/not much to do. I'll figure it out as I go. We don't do a big Father's Day thing here. W/both of our fathers gone, it's a mixed bag. We do a small something for the boys. Same w/Mother's Day. Dinner will be the rechauffe, pricey pizza from last night. Dh really enjoyed it.
Enjoy your day, tribe.

Hi all! Loved your pics yesterday, leannec. I do seasonal/holiday decorations too. Mostly my coffee bar/hutch, and then outside. But I also put slip covers on the furniture and change out the quilys for bright colors. Summer is mostly cupcake and baking themed in the hutch. I'll try to take a pic this week. Today is Father's Day here. I took Nick to a brunch buffet and had THE best peppered bacon. It was pricey but surprisingly good. We are headed home and I will finish a cake while he puts together hid Fathers Day present, a standalone wood cooler with rustic design on it. The pups gave him new earbuds yesterday for their present as they are probably responsible for one of his going missing. I asked the kids to come over to see him but haven't heard back, so I just wanted to make his day special. I saw a fun gadget on IG to help frost cakes perfectly smooth last night, found it in Amazon and it was here by this morning. I bakes a shallow jellyroll pan of chocolate cake, cut out 6 thin layers of cake, layered it with chocolate cream and it's chilling now. When I get home I will use the kit to pour chocolate ganache over it, chill it, and we'll see if it works. It's always a challenge to get cakes nice and smooth for me. If it works, I will post a picture. Here we are going to brunch though. Otherwise it is supposed to be around 90° so I plan to sit in the hot tub and read, and then deadhead all my flowers. Maybe feed them too. They have been looking a bit leggy/straggly.. .amazing how quick they dry out and look tired. I did finish my 2 7 day loans, early in fact! And I've started another. I wish I'd kept track how many books I've read this summer already. Hope everyone is well! Attachments:

I finished up some things outside since we are headed into a heat wave staring Tuesday. Air issues and high heat indexes. My brother put my moms window AC units in so that will help her a lot..
4th Father’s Day without my dad. No celebrating here.

Just got back from our walk. DS is at LaGuardia waiting for his flight home. Dinner will be corned beef with cabbage and potatoes. Flying from Helsinki to Iceland We had beautiful weather throughout our time in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Estonia. We knew it was about to change as we got to Iceland. Upon arrival, we collected our luggage and met our Tour Director for Iceland. The weather outside was horrible, sideways rain and wind gusts up to 40PMH. We had to walk quite a distance to get on our bus and were thoroughly soaked. Forget about umbrellas. Our first stop was at a bakery for some reason. Maybe the TD’s sister owned it. The second stop was hilarious! Some people stayed on the bus but the rest of us braved the elements and walked up the hill to view the home of the President of Iceland. The weather was so ridiculous that we were hysterically laughing while we took some group pictures. In the last one, I almost blew away and was saved by grabbing the arm of one of my fellow travelers.

Happy Fathers Day to those who celebrate!
Both DH and I have lost our fathers although we do some reminiscing about them which is always fun. No major celebrations with our boys because ODS is camping with his family and YDS is working.
It’s a gorgeous day here today, hard to believe our major heatwave starts tomorrow.
Supper will be grilled steak. DH complained that he had to cook his own supper on Fathers Day. I offered to do the grilling but he just laughed and said no thanks.

Happy Sunday Father's Day!
We celebrated yesterday with the family so it's just a quiet day at home for me. I made paella and sausage balls. Everyone seemed to like it but I was pretty tired by the end of the day.
Tonight, I'll either go to my sister's to swim and eat with them or I'll order in something. I don't feel like cooking tonight and I'm putting in a grocery order for the week.
Hope you all have a great day!

Quiet day around here. We celebrated Father's Day last night. It was a nice evening with all the family.
My parents left this morning so I have been cleaning up their room and doing laundry.
Got my walk in early this morning before it got hot. Temps in the 90's all week.
Dinner will be rechauffe from last night.

No idea what dinner will be. I’ve been napping off & on. My cold is worse today. So sick of coughing. Dh is sick of hearing it I’m sure. I was able to cancel all my appointments tomorrow online. Dermatologist, facial & hair. 2 of the girls were here this morning to make breakfast for him. Dd 1 is still camping. So I doubt we’ll see her. They gave me the cold so that wouldn’t keep them away. tmarschall I can’t wrap my head around that cake assembly. It sounds delicious. I’m thinking about “summering” my shelves that flank our fireplace. They could use a refresh. I don’t have any highland cows or sunflowers or anything colorful. Maybe I can spray paint a few things this week. cadoodlebug Iceland looks cold in those pics.

It was the wind that killed us! Luckily the next two days were just chilly, not cold and windy. ETA: I just noticed I was the only one with gloves on!

In Australia we celebrate Fathers Day in September, so it was just a normal lazy Sunday for me. We finally got around to eating the beef rendang from Costco that we’ve had in the fridge for weeks.

tmarschall What a lovely picture of you and Nick. You both look like you enjoy life! I spent the day with my mom and caught up on some chores for her. She supervised and she is quite the taskmaster. She’s 90 and has no filter whatsoever. She is in need of a knee replacement and is in a bit of pain so I try to cut her some slack. I’m home now and I’ve plopped my arse on the sofa with no desire to cook so dinner is an unhealthy mix of carbs, sugar and a glass of Chablis. The glamour of my life knows no bounds!

I went to church, sang in our small choir.. I sang alone the very high soprano part and got through it (I am really an alto).. we had a short board meeting--I take minutes (clerk of session for pcusa people).
then after lunch, I went shopping and returned some things. not too busy out.
tonight we are having takeout.. it will be japanese. salmon on hot platter for me, katsu don for dd, and a big sushi platter for dh..
I did the afternoon dog walk.. very windy, no one at the usual field.

We're grateful for this life we're building. As planned, we sat in the hot/cool tub all afternoon reading and drinking. I plowed through another novel and then wanted to throw it across the deck when it ended with a terribly unsatisfying conclusion. We heated up grilled burgers and sausages from yesterday with Deli salads, devilled eggs and fruit.
