I do it after I take the clothes out. My husband leaves the lint after he does a load so I usually end up taking it out before as well.

I always check both the lint and the water tank before I use the machine in case someone else has left lint/water behind. But then, if I empty the dryer, I empty the lint/water then, too. So, both, I guess! Water? A water tank, in a dryer? It's a ventless dryer so the water removed from the clothing collects in a slide-out plastic drawer type "tank" that you just pour out into a sink.

I always taught my kids to do it before they put their clothes in the dryer. My dd came home from college the first semester and said, "Mom, you would not believe how many people do not even know they need to remove the lint from the dryer!" That's funny, because for whatever reason, as a kid, I adored seeing the lint come out of the dryer. It always looks so soft & fuzzy. I used to beg my mom to let me have it to use a doll blanket and she would repeatedly explain that if I handled it it would come apart. But it looked so lovely to me---nothing at all like the mushy stringy look of the stuff that collected in the washer's filter.

I have a washer-dryer, so it will be different from a dryer, but there is no lint collector. I went looking for one, and it just isn't there. There's nothing in the instructions or the maintenance about lint collectors. Same here RedSquirrelUK - we must have the same washer-dryer 😀 Haha! Our old Samsung was the same as our new AEG, so I suspect it's a washer-dryer thing rather than the specific make. Isn't it lovely to have the option of drying things, even if you don't? I only use ours to fluff the towels because that's how DH likes them. I always told myself that it would be useful to be able to wash and dry clothes for wearing the next day, and I have never done that. Not once. Do you actually use yours for getting clothes cupboard-dry?

When I remove the clothes from the dryer I clean the lint out.

Before I put the clothes in. I'm too scatterbrained to remember if I did it when I took the clothes out, so I have to check anyways. Might as well do it before every time.

I selected other because in our house it depends on who did the last load of laundry. If it was me I clean it after I pull the clothes out so it’s ready for the next load. If DH was the last one to use it then I have to clean it before I put the clothes in because it’s full and usually contains bits of kleenex and paper towel from his pockets ::eyeroll::

I almost always do it after I take the load out, but sometimes I don’t if I’m in a hurry. For that reason, I always check to make sure that I’ve actually done it before I turn the dryer on. I usually do most of the laundry on the same day so the days I don’t do it then it’s typically on a day when I have a random single load to do in and between doing a hundred other things.

After I take the clothes out, I use the dryer sheet that was in there to clean with lint filter, then put a fresh dryer sheet in that stays there until whenever the next load comes out of the washer.

I do it before after I put the clothes in and am about to shut the door. This makes the most sense as no one else does this in my house so if I did if after, the next person that does laundry “benefits” and I don’t want it to be full when I do my load. Although honestly I do it before a load and probably 50% of the time after the load as well because I am paranoid of a dryer fire from built up lint.

I only use mine in the winter for undies & socks - hate having those on radiators/clothes horse i have been known to use the steam/refresh to avoid ironing one thing to wear lol 😀 😉

After the dryer stops, but right before I take my laundry out (so that I don't forget after grabbing my clothes).
But.... I also check before I use the dryer because I know I am probably the only person in the house who does consistently clean the lint filter.

After I take the clothes out, but also before I put clothes in I double-check.

Both, because my kids do about half of their own laundry, and they don't always empty it. So I just try to check on it every time I open the door.

Usually before, but mostly whenever I remember. I do clean it almost before every load.. we have SO MUCH dog hair. So it fills fast.

I rarely use the dryer, but when I do, I take the lint out first. I'm a wee bit paranoid about a fire starting!

Always when I take the clothes out. But I also always check before clothes go in, just in case someone else "forgot" to clean it when they took their clothes out. That would be DH & DS, who never seem to check.
