Just to keep the board moving…I’ve thought about this recently. I always remove the lint before I put the clothes in the dryer. I think this is the norm in my house.

I clean my lint screen after I remove the clothes from the dryer, so it’s ready for the next load.

My dh and I do our own laundry, and even when both my kids were here they did their own also. So I just trained everyone to take the lint out after they took their own clothes out, so it would be ready for the next person. I always checked anyway, lol...but they were pretty good about it. My dh never forgets.

I always clean my lint trap after I put in my wet load but before I set the time and push start. It it just a routine. Then I use that lint clump to run all over the top of the dryer to collect all the other dust and little lint pieces. And then I either leave it on the dryer (bad bad habit. Hahaha) or throw it away as it should be.
ETA - I am single and am the only one that uses the machines so it works for me. I never thought about when other people use it, although if everyone does it the same way it shouldn’t matter. 😄

I always remove the lint after I've used the machine and double check before I use it again because I don't use it every day or even every week. I prefer to line dry. Have a load out in the fresh air as we "speak".
I have a condenser dryer so there is a unit in the bottom of the machine that needs to be cleaned out too but not as regularly. There are lights for both areas and they are programmed to light up after so many uses. I never ignore the lights.

My lint trap is at the bottom of the dryer opening so I always empty it before I take the freshly dried clothes out. That way no pieces of lint get on the clean clothes. I do this every time.

Before drying. I'm the only one in this house who has ever touched the dryer so I'm pretty sure it won't be run with too much lint in it.

as I take clothes out - 95% of the time I'm the only one moving laundry but if per chance, someone else has, I'll check before adding clothes also.

I have a filter inside the drum and another at the bottom of the machine. Both are cleaned whenever I/DH go to remove anything from the drier and the water is poured away too so the machine is clean and empty, ready for the next use.

Sometimes before and sometimes after. But I always check before if it’s been a while since the dryer has been used.

I do it after the clothes are out. Others in the household don't so I am always checking.

I do it when I dump a damp load in there, before turning it on because when I remove a dry load my hands are full and I don't have anywhere to put the clothes down to do it.

I normally hang clothes outside. But sometimes things get a quick tumble for various reasons. I always first check/clean the filter before putting anything in it. There is usually hardly any lint. But, in the rare case that there is a good amount, I find it very satisfying to clean it.

I just went downstairs and put a load of clothes in the washer and then cleaned the lint screw. It had lint from ds’s last load of laundry. Now it’s ready for my clothes!
When I used to go to the laundromat many years ago the owner showed me that he used a used dryer sheet to wipe the lint off with. It works well but I never have one because of my system.

I clean the lint trap before I put clothes in. My machine has a reminder light that goes on when you turn it on. You have to remove the tray to turn off the light.

Pull the items out, remove link from lint filter. That way it is ready for the next load to dry when ever that is.
Also have dh pull out the dryer and clean the lint filter area, the pipe that does from the back to the outside vent, the outside vent, and the backside of the dryer where he removes the back plate.

I picked “after I take the clothes out”, but I actually clean out the lint before I take the clothes out. The machine stops, I open the door, clean the lint, then take the clothes out. I guess I could have picked “other”.

Im a before... im also a lazy cleaner in that i wipe down the machines before i start washing... i do a wipe down when i actually clean the laundry room... but in general before so it just sits when im done doing laundry until the next laundry day....
I need a house cleaner!!

There are 3 of us using the washer/dryer. So, I always check the lint trap before starting a load in the dryer. If I am unloading the dryer, the lint trap is the last thing I do.

In my old house, I did it every time I loaded a load, but since DH did it when he empties, I switched to that. It is nice that its always ready to go.

I have a washer-dryer, so it will be different from a dryer, but there is no lint collector. I went looking for one, and it just isn't there. There's nothing in the instructions or the maintenance about lint collectors.  |

I always taught my kids to do it before they put their clothes in the dryer. My dd came home from college the first semester and said, "Mom, you would not believe how many people do not even know they need to remove the lint from the dryer!"

I go back and forth but the majority of the time, I take it out when I am putting clothes into the dryer.
