Reading through the reunion post made me sad. So many of us were bullied throughout high school and the fact that a lot of those bullies haven't changed throughout the years is mind boggling.
I won't go to anymore high school reunions and want nothing to do with my hometown because of it. It seems like whenever I go home, I see the same people doing the same things that they did 35+ years ago. The mean girls are still the mean girls. The guys who peaked in high school are now just pathetic and are still living off their popularity. Ugh.
I'm glad I left and created a nice life for myself and I hope everyone else on this page did too.

I am obviously the outlier but at my high school reunion I found the mean girls had grown into friendly and inclusive women; the guys, the same.

High school was hell for me. College was heaven. Now those were some of the best years of my life.
I just was a very alternative/artsy person in a school that were all preps. So I didn't fit in at all. The first day of college I saw all of these hippies, goths, and punks walking around and thought, Hallelujah!

I wasn't bullied in high school but just never saw the need to go back to a reunion. I keep in touch via Facebook with those I want to and my close friend group was pretty small. I love to see pics though of reunions to see who has changed the most.

I had the same experience but I was just your average kid who found other average kids like me, who didn't care where you lived or who your other friends were. I'm so happy that you found your people!

I wasn't bullied, and I had many friends, but I don't go to the reunions. One of my biggest problems is that I don't remember faces, or things that happened. I would show up and really not know anyone even if we hung out all during HS. Case in point, I have a friend from grade school as a Facebook friend, she will tag me in things that happened and I honestly can not remember what she is talking about. It's a little scary. My family will say so you remember and most often the answer will be no. It is sad because I would love to remember these things! And it's a little scary too.

I can't say I was "bullied" in high school but I was often teased, picked on and the butt of pranks. Maybe that is considered bullying but I didn't call it that. I don't know what happened to the ones that did that...I haven't stayed in touch with any high school friends except for maybe 4 or 5 that I knew well and didn't do things like that to other students.

I was just talking with my oldest daughter about the fact that my memory is cr*p. Alzheimer's runs in my family (both sides too--paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother). We were talking about how movies always portray Alzheimer's patients as living in their younger years and childhood memories, but I don't even remember those things now! I sometimes struggle to remember stuff from my own kids childhoods which wasn't that long ago (oldest is 31). As for the OP high school was horrible from what I can remember, but there was little true bullying. I went to one reunion, the 10th with some friends I'd kept in touch with at that time. I remembered a lot of people but almost no one remembered me. To give them credit I had just had my 3rd baby so was considerably heavier than in high school. Funny story I won the "person with the most kids" award; that would definitely not be the case now as we had a fairly large LDS population.
