May and June have been an emotional rollercoaster for me. My oldest son graduated high school, my DH was injured at work and has been on leave since mid-May, I was offered (and accepted!) a new job (with a significant pay raise and more PTO! Yay!), but I can feel the weight of the stress on my shoulders. I was browsing on Scrapbook.com last week and I noticed Vicki B's new collection is available, as well as the new Simple Stories Disney collection, plus several awesome freebies, and I. BOUGHT. IT. ALL. Every single thing I liked went into my cart and I hit "purchase". I don't know what came over me! Do I need several hundred dollars of new scrapbooking products? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Did I want it all? 100% yes! I try not to indulge in retail therapy every time something stressful happens, but I let stress get the better of me last week and I made a massive purchase. I can't wait for my box to arrive, but I am feeling a bit guilty! I try to add items to my cart then go through and cull what I don't need or won't use... and I didn't do that this time. I don't even have a Disney trip planned! I don't know what came over me. Does anyone else stress shop?

Yes. This is me. All the time.
When I'm stressed I almost never have the creative energy or mood required to scrap, so I find mindlessly filling my cart and hitting buy gives me a bit of joy. I know it's not healthy, but when things are out of control (usually at work) it's almost like a promise to myself that things will get better and I'll have some pretty new goodies to play with next time I can scrap.

Of course I do! It's most often scrapbooking supplies and clothes.

Yes, and I have a box coming soon! Not as expensive as your shopping, but I did indulge more than I have in a very very long time.

Of course I do. My motto is "at least it's not drugs, alcohol or cigarettes"

A little scrappy shopping gives me such a nice feeling when life is too busy to relax. I too try not to do it all the time, but when there are new lines that i've had my eye on anyways, I'm sunk! I got a box full of the Disney stuff last week, and today my box of the Vicki stuff arrived. I'm just waiting for the Shimelle line to be available now! So you are in good company

I tend to stress-eat rather than stress-shop. I'm not sure what's worse. One makes me fat, the other makes my bank account skinny. I hope you are able to enjoy your lovely new purchases without any guilt. You deserve it! (I'm coming from a purely selfish position here - the more you buy, the more you will need to create, and the more inspiration I will get from your amazing pages! )

I definitely get an endorphin rush from online shopping. My guilty pleasures are ACOT, Amazon, and Temu (yes, I know...)
I window shop through one or the other almost every day. Every couple of weeks, I hit "buy". I love seeing the box outside my door.
I'd say it is better than drinking, but I do that too, so...
The Disney collection is to die for. I already made 3 layouts with it. You will love it. I bought a lot of the products in that collection that would work on non-Disney pages, too- like the Animal Kingdom one works on any zoo page. And today I made a page with the Vicki Boutin collection, but they didn't have the embellishments yet when I bought it, so I had to fussy cut a lot. My next order will include the die cut pack, for sure. Fussy cutting looks good, but man, is it time consuming.

I'm the same way! If I'm stressed, zero creativity but I can shop! Then I feel guilty because I'm not creating as much, then I shop for books or clothes or something else. It's a cycle that's hard to break out of.

I think I unstress shop. When I get bored, I go looking for things. Now I am off to look at the new things you suggested.

I almost always have something in the mail and it cycles between books, scrapbook stuff, and stuff for the house. I also knit but besides drooling over an interchangeable needle set I don't need, I don't order knitting stuff online. I have tried to curb my book shopping by putting the books I want on hold at the library instead, but I'm weak!
When I'm actively scrapbooking I probably have scrapbook stuff in the mail. When I'm not scrapbooking a lot (like now, today is the last day of school though!) I switch to the other two...
I am currently waiting on a bookshelf thing to arrive today, and I saw some new Simple Stories on ACOT in the preorder section...

I'm not an impulse/stress shopper; rather, I'm left-brained & painstakingly overanalyze every purchase = boring & nerdy. I think I had a Fever Dream and Ordered All the Things...

Oh man, do I feel you. I can track how bad my month was to how much I shopped - there's no hope that my spending freeze will stick when I'm in times of extreme stress. That dopamine hit I get from hitting the buy button really does make me feel temporarily better, t's a scary thing if I don't keep it somewhat in check. I tend to place a bunch of smaller orders rather than one large one, though.
Enjoy your new stuff!

I ordered supplies from two places last month while I was experiencing some stress. I’d also ordered a kit with a class the month before. My orders weren’t large but combined with the previous month’s kit they totaled more than I want to spend right now.
I felt guilty until I realized I’d completed more pages than I’ve ever completed before relative to the same timespan. I spent time organizing my supplies and got to work. By the time I realized what I’d completed I had enough insight to realize I was trauma dumping (ie: venting too much) on those around me because I was overwhelmed when I should have channeled my energy into something else.
That purchase served a purpose for me and got me out of a funk (along with some introspective work). I’d say give yourself some grace and enjoy the new supplies without guilt. As long as your purchase doesn’t prevent you from meeting other responsibilities or harm anyone you’re good. Enjoy creating!

Both can be true!!
I am an anxiety-shopper, which I can be particularly guilt-inducting when involuntary unemployment and job searching are the source of the anxiety.
But I also am capable of researching a pet food or alcohol markers for hours on the internet.
Sometimes the impulse shopping is filling a cart with things from a carefully considered wish list when there's a sale or free/discounted shipping. My orders are mostly smaller these days.
I also try and do a little bit of crafting every day, just because it's good for my soul in these trying times, so that helps rationalize some purchases.
And now that I've been back to crafting for a couple years and have extra time at home I've been really carefully considering my style and my technique preferences and listing for sale on FB earlier impulse purchases or event kit items that I'm realistically never going to choose to use. I definitely made some very large impulse orders in the first year or so, not really knowing what I was doing.
