I was always a pull the sheet, blanket and duvet up straight to the top gal. No real thought about styling. Just smooth and covered. When we listed our house for sale I thought I should try to step up my game. I’ve been doing a version of the first bed (5:38 mark) and become a little obsessed with making our bed look nice now. youtu.be/XuUoGFEkutk

I just yank up the sheet on both sides, then fling the quilt up. Done.

I don’t often make it - the horror, I know! Beds needs to air so I open it right up then once I’m downstairs I forget until bedtime.

I don’t often make it - the horror, I know! Beds needs to air so I open it right up then once I’m downstairs I forget until bedtime. I KNEW there was a good reason for not making my bed hahaha!! Thanks for giving me the justification! Actually, I do make my bed most of the time. Our bedroom is the first room you see as you walk in the front door. My dog sleeps on the bed most of the day, and I have to leave my bedroom door open so he can come and go. I prefer to have the bed made in case anyone comes into the house. Making my bed is a super easy one movement process. We only have a doona (duvet) - no blankets, no sheets - so it's just a matter of pulling the doona straight. I don't have decorative cushions, so it's just the pillows that are already in place.

I don't use a top sheet ... I am also single and hardly move at night so it is easy to just pull the duvet up and place the pillows where they belong!

I just straighten it up. We don't share blankets and DH doesn't use a top sheet so it would be futile and annoying to put energy into this. Although...I would love the look and I think it changes the whole feel/energy of the room.

Wait, you are supposed to make the bed?

It depends on my mood and whether the cats have already taken up residence. I do like leaving the duvet pushed back and letting it and the mattress air but when I make the bed properly it's just a case of pulling the duvet up and I might add a few pretty cushions to tart it up.

I used to rarely make the bed, noe I do it everyday. It started when we were living in our travel trailer. Making the bed made it feel homey and less cluttered.
Now in our new house I have just continued the habit. Except for today. I finished my coffee went to get dressed only to find dh had made the bed! Pillows in shams and throw pillows expertly placed. 🥰
So I make it with top sheet folded down at the top over the comforter, our sleeping pillows fluffed but laying flat, with pillows in shams on top and 3 throw pillows.

Pull the layers up and flat. Only usually when I use the bed to organize items.

Get up, flip back the sheet and duvet to air the bed. Have breakfast, shower etc and come back to make the bed. Pull the sheet and duvet up together. Fold back a bit so it's just on the other side of the pillow.

DH leaves his side opened up to air out so I leave it that way until I happen to come back up for something else later in the day, then I pull up the sheet and blanket/comforter and straighten things out so it looks neat and call it good. I also have to hip check the mattress back into position because the big dog jumping on and off of DH’s side knocks it out of place which drives me nuts.

I have a top sheet and a duvet in a cover. I smooth the top sheet, straighten the duvet cover, replace the pillows, done! I sort of try to air it out, but the second I leave the fitted sheet unprotected is when Orla will walk all over it after having dug a hole in the yard.

LOL...that was me early in our marriage. We never made our beds unless we had company as kids. But, dh will make it if I don't. He's actually the one that started the pull up the blankets and smooth everything out deal. If I don't make the bed, he will (and he even watched the video) and does a nicer job than I do. :-)

I hate tight and tucked-in sheets and blankets, because it makes me feel trapped in the bed (PSTD issues). I half ass make the bed....sheet and throw style blanket(which is in lieu of a comforter or bed spread) loosely pulled up towards the pillows. Weighted blanket, thrown over the end of the bed rail.
On a daily basis, it has the slightly messy and disheveled look. I am very okay with that. If someone is coming over, then I make the effort to smooth it out a little.

I do the duvet in thirds and have for probably 30 years. It's so convenient to pull up at night if needed. I like the way he folded the sheet around the top of the quilt. I need to change my sheets tomorrow so I'm going to give it a go. I really only do a "nice" making of the bed on the day I change the sheets, otherwise it's a quick pull up of the sheet and quilt, fold down of the duvet and fluff of the pillows. The master is at the back of my upstairs, so once I'm dressed in the morning I rarely go back there again during the day. When are you out of your house cmpeter? And are you feeling on top of things?

I pull the sheet and duvet up then put all the pillows back on.
I would like to find a coverlet that isn’t scratchy. Anyone love theirs?

Fully made every day, I take everything off, straighten the bottom sheet, duvet back on pulled up to the top of the mattress, pillows fluffed and placed on top of the duvet. I add some cushions and Sushi's biscuit baking blanket and it's done. I really dislike an unmade bed.

For the most part I don' t, because I'm up way before dh and he makes it when he's up and ready. There is no top sheet so it's a fairly basic task.

I basically just make sure the sheets/blankets are not falling off the bed. End of story. The very first thing I do to any bed when I go to sleep is to rip every last bit out from under the mattress, so even when I make my bed, I do NOT tuck anything under the mattress. I am not a comforter/duvet kind of girl, so my top layer isn't shorter than my sheets/blankets, so I don't have to worry too much about them hanging lower on the sides of the bed than the top layer. I worked in a store that catered to people making wedding registries in my early 20s, and I made so many over-the-top beds with a bajillion components for those happy couples to scan away, adding hundred of extra dollars to their beds, and then suggesting an extra piece of furniture or very large basket in their room to hold all of those extras when they went to sleep each night. That really cemented in me the idea of a very simple bed. And with our home's arrangement, a guest would need to go seek out our bed to even see it. It's not visible from any part of the upstairs hallway.

I just pull everything up, smooth it out, and fold the top sheet back.
My mother would comment EVERY time she came over "Don't you ever make your bed?" I'd reply "No, because DH is still in it when I leave." I kid you not, she honestly asked the same thing for 40 years.

I don't
I haven't made a bed in years (except for when your house was for sale).
Not making a bed is a holdover from a very controlling mom who insisted the bed was perfect every morning.

I'm by myself, and I toss and turn all night long! It would take too much effort to make my bed every day. So I tuck in the sheet and blanket on the side I don't get in, and the bottom, so I have to do is give a little yank at the top to smooth it all out, rearrange the pillows, and I'm done. I have a folded quilt to put over the top of it all if I want to hide the tuckyness.

No top sheet. I just shake the duvet, then pull it up to the top of the bed, place the pillows on top. That's it. 2 minutes max.

I basically have the simple bed, the last one, in the video. Fitted sheet, flat sheet and since it is summer a light quilt. I stand our two sleeping pillows up on edge and then the shammed pillow in front. I did have a couple more smaller pillows out front but DH makes the bed and I got tired of hearing him grumble. Plus we have dogs and one, even though she weighs 45 pounds, like to "hide" between the pillows at the head of the bed. So I just quit using those.
At the moment, there is not much to making our bed. DH is having some health issues and just sleeps on top of the covers with a light blanket. Just really makes my side the one that has to be made.
I will also say get you some linen sheets. Those things are lovely! I grabbed mine from Target.

Pull up and flip the top down, nothing fancy! No extra pillow, we each already have 3 each we use. Definitely not extra blankets!
