And it was amazing. The last two months of sweating in the garden every weekend making beds, trellises, rototilling, etc was all 100% worth it in those two bites. Yum! Happy summer, peas!

Congratulations. I am seeing some on my plants. I’m hoping to add one more tomato plant this week. I’m so looking forward to fresh tomatoes this summer.

Ooooo I can't wait! Mine will have to come from the farmer's market, but summer tomatoes are the BEST!

We picked our first one yesterday. It is "finishing " ripening and we plan to cut it on Wednesday. We have to pick our tomatoes at the first blush or the birds get them. Darned mockingbirds figured out how to get under the netting.

How exciting! Mine have to come from the Farmers Market but I am so thankful local farmers here don't mind sharing!

I don't have a garden, but wish I did as the food is just soooooo much better than what one gets in the stores.
As a kid, I miss going with my dad to the farms in the valley to pick veggies. Love to pick and eat a really ripe tomato right off the vine that has been sun warmmed and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
He knew many of the farmers and they allowed him into the fields to pick his own fruits and veggies. He absolutely loved doing that and we had a blast going with him. The back of his truck smelled devine with the fresh picked food.

We got our first two in last week. Much rejoicing!
Of course, I had to have a tomato sandwich: soft white bread, real mayo, thick slices of tomato, and light salt. It is what summer tastes like.
DH is still bitter that I enjoyed the first tomato without him, but in my defense, he doesn't like tomato sandwiches. Philistine.

That's awesome. I can only WISH we were having a frost warning. Our tomatoes are fixing to be done - usually by July 4th they are burnt up and done producing.

Jealous, too! There is absolutely nothing in the world that tastes better than a fresh sun-warmed tomato right out of the garden!

They were unscathed ... there was another warning for last night, and I have not been out to the yard yet, but things look okay from the kitchen window this morning, too! We're about an hour-ish east of the Rockies' foothills--the mountains got a whole bunch of snow on Tuesday!!! Maybe the folks in the east could send a little of their heat our way, and we could send some of our unseasonably cold air to them?!

They are amazing! I've been eating two lightly salted slices for breakfast every morning this week. I plan to make it a habit this summer. The Berkeley Tye Dyes are the best!

I grew Berkley Tye Dye tomatoes last year. All summer they were big duds. The plant just would not set fruit. Then fall came and it exploded. I wound up getting hundreds of massive tomatoes from that plant. I picked them from late October-early January. I guess my area is just too hot in the summer for that variety. It was really fun getting tomatoes in the winter though!

We have one teeny, tiny tomato but lots of blossoms so I'm anxiously waiting and watching!

I am jealous! I live in Denver, and couldn't put my starts out until after Mother's Day. I have some blossoms now but it will be a bit before tomatoes. My cukes and shishito peppers are starting to get going finally. We have such a short growing season here!

I've given up on growing my own. Apparently I suck at it. But I've been getting them from the farmer's market and they are so good. Love that first BLT of the summer!
