I have the consult with my dentist this morning then I go for my annual physical at 2. What fun! Dinner is up-in-air. Day 2 in Iceland ~ morning Today was our Lagoon Day! Blue Lagoon was closed so our guide took us to Sky Lagoon. It was pretty amazing. We were instructed to take off all our clothes then walk to the showers holding our bathing suits. One of our gals asked the attendant do we have to? The attendant asked what the problem was and I said *we’re Americans, we don’t do that! But we’re in Iceland so we will!* And with that we all stripped naked and walked to the showers. We found out later that only ONE of our guys followed the instructions and the others put on their bathing suits before the showers. We all gave Smitty a round of applause and showered him with affection all day! The Lagoon is basically an infinity pool that goes into the ocean. In the pictures, you can see where the lagoon ends and the ocean begins. It was quite amazing. There was a waterfall that would massage your shoulders as you stood under it. There was also a walk-up/swim-up bar that you could get fruit juice, water and hard liquor if you wanted it at 10 in the morning. There was the 7 step experience that was incredible: Step 1: Slow down and relax in the lagoon Step 2: Cool down with the ice-cold plunge Step 3: Relax and enjoy the views of the ocean in the sauna Step 4: Refresh in a cold fog-mist Step 5: Invigorate and exfoliate with a rejuvenating body scrub of olive oil and sea salt ~ that’s my guess as to what it was Step 6: Chill out in the steam room Step 7: Shower and relax in the lagoon again. We were at the lagoon for over three hours and were definitely *chill* when we left! This is John and Nancy, they are the ones who makes all our trips to Europe possible!

Good evening. My appointment this morning went well. When the assistant doctor called me in, she struggled with my name (our surname is very difficult for Germans) and then asked if I preferred English , so I said yes, if she was OK with that. Then the same doctor I saw two weeks ago came in and he speaks perfect English! So today was a lot easier for me. I have two, probably unrelated, issues. The bubble in my cheek is a blood vessel problem but they still don’t have all the answers on that. He actually said to me ‘I am not cutting into it until I know more, and I’m a surgeon - we like to cut into things!’ The other issue is what the saw on the CT scan and wanted the MRI to clarify. It is a meningioma, which is a benign growth in the brain. I need a more detailed scan and I will still see the neurosurgeon in two weeks. I have just spent an hour on the phone with a friend in England who is a former GP and has also had two meningiomas - in different parts of her brain - and she was able to answer a lot of my questions and calm me a bit. She also gave me a list of questions to ask the neurosurgeon when I see her. In particular , she said it is often a ‘wait and see’ situation, rather than a ‘let’s operate right now’
Dinner tonight is rechauffe lasagne from Sunday . DH often makes a huge lasagne or some other casserole when he travels, so I don’t have to cook for myself every night.

scrapmaven enjoy your time away! cadoodlebug that looks like so much fun. After temps in the mid 90's yesterday, it is only supposed to get in the upper 80's today. The humidity sucks... Short work day then I am going to run a bunch of errands. Probably go to another baseball game tonight for the YDGS. Made it to one for the middle one last night. Dinner is going to be sloppy joe's. I have been on a watermelon kick lately. I can't get enough of it.

cadoodlebug That looks amazing! I wouldn’t want to leave. Last night I went to my daughter’s to snuggle my 5 week old granddaughter. I made a big salad to take for dinner and there’s plenty left over so I’ll have the same tonight. It’s crazy hot and muggy here so I’m going to go out and power wash the deck then come in and read. I made a big pitcher of iced tea to help cool me off. Find joy in your day, everyone!

cadoodlebug That looks amazing! I wouldn’t want to leave. It was hard getting us to leave! But we had a full afternoon scheduled and I was starting to prune. The best part is when you got too warm, you would stand up and your upper body would get the full blast of cold air/wind. Back under the water was heaven!

sueg I’m glad you were able to talk to your friend. The wait and see is always the hardest. Keeping you in my prayers. I took all the drugs then got to church before 7 to water. The maintenance guy got this mini water cart out to help me but it just prolonged it unfortunately. Skipping that tomorrow. I feel like I may nap. Dh has golf tonight so I’ll eat whatever is in the fridge. Enjoy your time away scrapmaven

Hi friends! A round of virtual hugs all around!
Dinner this week is salad with chicken on top, but DH and I are also going to a minor league baseball game tonight, so I'm sure he'll find himself with a hot dog and I'll see what strikes my fancy. I'd love a sausage sandwich, but we've never been to this park, so it will be an adventure. We both have off of work tomorrow, so this is new for us to even entertain the idea of going out on a week day.
I also went to the doc this morning because while I got antibiotics 2 weeks ago, and they worked for the week I was on them, I was still having some residual ear pain/sore throat/sinus crap, so I figured I should play it safe. They said it's probably a low grade sinus infection and I do have some fluid in my ears, but since I don't have a fever, then no antibiotics needed again. She did give me some prednisone to speed up the time to feel better and some decongestants because it's likely all the congestion causing my issues. Now Miss Bess and I both get to take prednisone, but I'm pretty sure they don't make pill pockets for humans. So I'll throw them on some applesauce because I am a child when it comes to the taste of prednisone.

Happy Tuesday! Tomorrow is a day off from work for Juneteenth so I'm trying to clear work stuff off of my plate so I can enjoy the day. cadoodlebug That lagoon looks really pretty. I've been to the Blue Lagoon and I didn't want to leave either, We did water massages and it was so relaxing. The only thing I didn't like about Iceland was the food. We had artic char at a lot of places we stayed and I was all fished out by the end. Tonight I think I'm going to do a stir fry - quick and easy. Hope you all have a great day!

Hi all! Love the pics, cadoodlebug! My favorite time to use the hot tub is actually winter, for the reason you describe...get in, get out/stand up, then get innnn̈nnnnnn! Heaven! Sending love to you, sueg...that's a lot to take in. I'm glad you have lots of support. I am sitting in the service waiting room, hoping they can figure out why my ac takes so long long to get cold. And then is sometimes intermittent. Nick put some coolant in it but it didn't help...wondering if there us a leak or a vent problem. Please cross your pea fingers that it's not too pricey a fix. I went to the book club at the library for the first time. I found the book horrible, so I wasn't sure how it would go. I am not a fan of the genre...a VERY long historical romance with Christian themes. Set in The Depression, privileged white girl ends up manipulated into dangerous situations, including being a traveling librarian (on horseback) in Appalachian Kentucky. With a happy ending...sort of. Ugh. There was plenty to talk about without trashing the book though. I was definitely the youngest of the 7 of us, with the possible exception of the librarian. By decades. 😁 Everyone was very nice with the exception of one lady. She didn't talk much in the discussion except while I was speaking ahe looked at me and interrupted with "I can't hear a single word you say." I was startled a bit and apologized and said is this better (more loudly)? She looked away and when I finished the librarian asked if that was better, and she looked at me and said "No comment." I don't know if she was offended by my comments (we were discussing the religious part) or what. Although earlier she was being told the time would be changing in August and she just looked at the librarian and said "whatever" dismissively. Someone has grown out of her filter! Looking forward to going back though! Our next book is Evicted, nonfiction about poverty and home/housing. That should be an interesting discussion with this group(?!). No idea about dinner. We have grilled stuff we could reheat, steaks we could grill, sloppy Joe's to stay out of the heat, or maybe go out, which sounds great! I did water and feed all the plants thus morning. I'm determined my flowers will survive this heatwave! Have a great day!

When I got up at 8 am, DH was sitting in the livingroom looking absolutely terrible. He said he had been awake since 3:30 am with bad chest pain. He thought it was acid reflux but no antacid would touch it so maybe it was his heart. After giving him hell for waiting so long, we jumped in the car and went to the hospital which is 2 minutes from our house. The did a full cardiac work up which was all normal. He was given a “Pink Lady” concoction which finally took the pain away. After running all the labs again with no indication of heart attack, he was sent home with a prescription for a strong anti acid med. Gotta say that it scared me a lot when I saw him this morning and he said, chest pain! But we are home now and just chilling in the air conditioning.
It’s day 2 of the heat wave and I’m just about done with it. I remember now why I like fall so much!
After a haircut this afternoon, I’ve parked myself in the couch with my book. Walker is laying on the register enjoying the central air. Not sure about supper tonight.

Oh, I nearly forgot about my dental update! My previous dentist would have immediately scheduled me for either a new crown, root canal or dental implant. My current dentist took x-rays and said he could grind out and polish the rough edges and see if that works. He told me if I have any problems between now and my next cleaning to let them know. He's a firm believer in starting on the conservative side and then going up the ladder if need be. I almost kissed him and I did dance out of the office. Did I mention that he is drop-dead gorgeous to boot?

Happy Tuesday! Taking it easy today after a rough night. I've been dealing with the worst case of vertigo I've ever had, then last night something I ate didn't agree with me so I was up sick half the night. Would love to take a nap but am waiting on the inspector to come and sign off on our generator project so they can put my yard back together. Will definitely be in bed early tonight! I did manage to get signed up for a couple of classes at Quilt Festival when the signups went live this morning. DH is still receiving the Keytruda and taking the Lenvima. Last week he had 5 radiation treatments to the area with the lesion. He said all the pain he was having is now gone which we are thankful for. Unfortunately the chemo side effects have really kicked in the past few days and he is super tired. He is WFH right now and fortunately the project is super slow so he is able to rest. Best news is that the oncologist's office just called and said his latest DNA blood work (they do it monthly) shows no sign of cancer! Good to hear that what they are doing is working! Dinner will be something light and easy, probably salad. Neither of us is up to cooking these days and he just doesn't have much appetite. scrapmaven - Enjoy your fun stuff! taylortroop - So glad your DH is going to be fine. What is it with men waiting things out too long? sueg - I hope that your visit in two weeks gives you good news. cadoodlebug - Have been enjoying your photos and it's made me want to make another trip to Iceland. DD and I went a few years ago in late May. Turns out they were having the coldest May in over 100 years! The wind was so bad that it was like being in a very cold tropical storm. Tearisci - I always warn people going to Iceland that if they don't love fish/seafood, they may not care for the food. It's the first choice for both DD and I so we were good there.

My visit with my doctor went well. When his nurse asked if I felt safe at home, I giggled and said *yeah, except when I keep killing him at cards!* Then when I was having blood drawn for my semi-annual numbers, I felt a tap on my shoulder and a woman asked me to please take my hat off because she wanted to see my haircut. She asked if it was a pixie cut and when I said yes she told me that's what she wants. She went back to her station and the gal who was drawing my blood and I burst out laughing. Oh, and I misread my clock and arrived an hour early for my appointment. I thought the parking lot was pretty empty and when I walked in the building I figured it out. Everyone was at lunch. Luckily I brought my book and read for an hour.

I did manage to get signed up for a couple of classes at Quilt Festival when the signups went live this morning. What classes are you taking? I'm thinking about a few but the hotel costs are extreme for this Festival. I am taking the Barn Quilt Block Painting class (all day) and Easy Straight-Line Ruler Work (1/2 day). Currently on the waitlist for Yorkshire Buttons. Other than that I will just check out some of the lectures. I really try to take classes now that don't result in projects I'll need to finish after I get back home. There are more than enough UFO's in my sewing room! Hotels are outrageous this year, especially the official hotels. I'm staying 3 night at the connected Marriott and choking over the cost, but DH insisted I book it since our vacations for this year are not happening due to his treatments. If you are serious and don't mind walking a few blocks I can recommend some hotels in the area that are nice and typically not too expensive.

We had a gopher turtle den in our backyard in Florida. They’re neat but with a den come snakes. My kids could never play in our yard. We had a den in our yard at our old house - no real problem with snakes...I mean, it's Florida so there ARE snakes but the ones we saw were harmless ones. But I'm sorry your kids couldn't play outside - that's not fun I'm not sure where this little guy's den is - this is the first time I've seen him. For a subdivision (albeit rural) we have quite a lot of wildlife - turkeys, owls, a hawk that hangs out in my yard, deer, squirrels, and now the tortoise.

Wow. Lots going on. sueg, though I'm happy to hear that it's benign, I'm sorry that you have to see a neurosurgeon. I'll hope that this is just a monitor-now-and-then situation. taylortroop, I have both heart disease and Gerd. It can be very difficult to discern what is causing the symptoms. Scary stuff, but sounds like he's ok. **GypsyGirl**, Google the Epley Maneuver. It's a 30 second treatment for vertigo. Dh learned in physical therapy. It works wonders. Good news about your dh, but I'm sorry that he's suffering from treatment side effects. teddyw, I'm hoping that your new meds will knock this out of your system. Linda, we have a box turtle. He's interesting and likes humans. He lived s in a pen in our backyard. Thank you ladies. This is just a short little refresher. Tmw we're going to a big garden. It's been lovely, so far. I'll check in when I can.

sueg its always so hard to wait to see the doctor. ((Hugs)) can you be put on a wait list list for an earlier appointment? I probably can't get in earlier. She is a hospital based doctor and seems to do her consultations on Wednesdays and surgery on other days. I also need other scan before I see her, which I don't yet have an appointment for, so it might be tight to get it done before next Wednesday. My doctor will let me know anyway if I need to see her earlier, when he speaks to her. sueg, though I'm happy to hear that it's benign, I'm sorry that you have to see a neurosurgeon. I'll hope that this is just a monitor-now-and-then situation. I have to see the neurosurgeon to confirm the diagnosis and to discuss options. From talking to my friend, treatment varies with the site of the tumor, its size and any symptoms. I am really hoping don't need surgery, but I will deal with it if I do.
