I have watched the Misc Politics #20 thread (I can't remember the exact name of the thread) all day today. It keeps switching from the red POLITICS label to having no label at all. Now, I know this will date me but has anyone else noticed this and had the tune and cartoon in your head of the main toon character being chased up and down the stairs? A bit of classical music as one goes one way. A bit of a change of in tune as the antagonist chases them back up.
I want to say it is Bugs Bunny being chased by the big red hairy monster but I can't find a video of it. Then I think maybe it's Marvin the Martian. In any case, it was my childhood introduction to classical music. Bonus smooches for anyone that finds the video clip and is able to post it!!

Ha. I missed it. Are you talking about the - It’s time for the politics tag to go. ? My guess for the cartoon is Tom and Jerry. No clue really. 😊

You're both correct! Bugs played the "click trick" on the stairs with Ralph the Wolf in "The Windblown Hare" Tom and Jerry did a version in "Tail in the Trap" If this works, I'll claim the Bonus Smooches, LOL!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyQcdsVWBFY

I noticed the label going back and forth. Don't quite understand what's going on. I've only been around for 4 years, so I dont' know what the history is with the label, but if the board decided it should be there, shouldn't it be there until the board decides it shouldn't be there? I know a pea said it needed to go, but does that constiture the board not wanting it and thus, it should be be gone? How are those types of decisions made on the board? I thought maybe a poll?

It seems the labels can be placed and removed by anyone. It's not the admin of the board that decide that. So if I'm reading a post about tacos and "feel" offended I can mark it politics. It was a flag that was created to help people avoid certain threads. You know, in case the title wasn't enough. The OP of the thread I mentioned said they were not going to mark their threads as political any longer. And why should they? It's in the title so it's pretty obvious. As I was on a desktop today and kept popping in, it was funny watching it bing bong back and forth. That then made me hear the music and think of the cartoon.

I'd like an "unnecessary drama" label please. Not that I'll ever see it on my phone, but apparently labels are hard to ignore by lots of people here, so I want one too.

tenakee you get one smooch! While you found a stair clip of both, it's not what is circling in my head. Maybe it's not these cartoon characters. But it just has to be. I remember watching it as a kid. Music as one goes up, dunh dunh dunh. A deeper tone as they descend. dunh dunh duhn. Higher going up, deeper going down. A piano tune. That's all I got right now.

I'd like one of these for every day wear please. I rarely notice the label, it doesn't mean a lot to me. Doesn't the thread subject say enough? naby64, thank you for the memory. Those old cartoons showed human nature more than we know. Daffy and Elmer Fudd's Rabbit Season / Duck season was a favorite.

I have nothing to do with anything being marked or unmarked in recent days. I do think simple consideration would mean that peas would leave labeling or not to the OP of the thread, simply to avoid the “I’m tagging this because there’s something in it that I disagree with” pattern. As for unnecessary drama, Zee, give it a rest. Drama keeps the board more active than a thousand posts about socks.

I was watching the tag on the Misc Politics post #20. It's a post of just what the title says. Misc. postings of tweets, newspaper articles, etc. About politics. Go figure. Why would that thread even need a label? But this was more of a thought on the cartoon that I can't get out of my head but can't figure out who the main character is!

Maybe you need to take your own advice because you seem awfully sensitive about the entire thing. Let it go, Elsa.

I guess I was wonder more of how did the politics label get on the bored to begin with? Like a few people mentioned in posts how a politics lable would be nice and from Admin reading that, they created the label or was it like on a vote by poll and majority rule and then Admin created the label?

snyder , it was one of the past political election cycles. Things got vicious and I do think some members wanted a label because even though the thread might have been Mayo vs Miracle Whip, it would take a sideways turn and end up on politics and folks wanted a warning. Or something along those lines, IIRC.

Or something along those lines, IIRC. Lol, sometimes those are my favorite threads! I'll start reading the board in the morning before I get ready for work. I'll see a post with the title "do you prefer real mayo or miracle whip?" or "how large do you like your bath towels to be?" I'll think "oh maybe I'll reply to that when I get home this afternoon." So while I'm at work I'm thinking about mayonnaise or towels (as one does while teaching 3rd grade ), and when I get home I sit down with my laptop...and see that those threads are now into 10 pages. hahahahaha So then you know I have to read the whole thing from the beginning to find out where and why we veered from mayonnaise and towels to whatever controversy caused it to get to 10 pages.

Is she saying that drama threads are more productive then then fluff posts? Is she saying that people shouldn't post fluff threads? Not sure what her point is but she is being unnecessarily bitchy about this whole thing. She made some rude posts on the og politics label thread. This has clearly hit a nerve with her and her reactions seem over the top. Sure drama threads are interesting and do keep the board hopping but this wouldn't be much of a place people wanted to be if it was all drama all the time. We need a balance.

Thanks scrapmaven . I can't say for sure that is the one but it has the right memory to it. I still thought it was Bugs and...somebody. We will go with this one since I can't find anything else to back up my old brain. That was fun Lurkingpea. I remembered most of those!

That's a lot of words you put in my mouth. Nowhere did I say that drama threads are more valuable. But as people have frequently complained about the board moving slowly, it seemed appropriate to point out that sock threads don't speed up the board. I responded back to Zee on this because she seemed to be calling me out with another comment about "unnecessary drama." If I misperceived what she posted, my apologies. I do not believe I was rude on the other thread. I think labeling someone else's post without their permission is pretty rude, though.

Stop trying so hard to convince me I'm in the wrong wrong, it will be ok. Sincere hugs if you're going through some shit right now.
