Apparently he is fighting it. UGH. he knows he was under the influence but instead of owning up and taking responsibility he is going to use his lawyer to get out of it.

I thought he was the annoying little bro in NSync, but I liked his SexyBack album. I liked when he was on SNL, and his relationship with Jimmy Fallon. But I never understood his relationship with Jessica Beil (not sure how that is spelled) and then when all the Britney stuff came out, I chalked it up to a kid who made mistakes that didn't want to impact a budding career, or have his star permanently hitched to someone as unstable as BS (not sure if she was unstable back then). His new album has come out and I dont think is as successful, so I suspect he is struggling with that feedback. No excuse tho for someone who is so rich to get behind the wheel drunk. And then to deny a breathalyzer? I'm sure he'll just get a slap on the hand, but I hope he gets help. Not sure about the state he was in, but in Texas if you refuse a breathalyzer you get an automatic suspension. But being he is rich, that probably wont affect him much. In Florida, when Matt Gaetz was pulled over for a suspected DWI, he refused the breathalyzer test. That leads to an automatic suspension of your license, EXCEPT in his case, the sheriff's deputy was "no longer with the department" when the case went before the judge, so the ticket got thrown out and his license wasn't suspended. 👎

I hate the two tiered justice system! Matt Goetz is a piece of crap and shouldn’t have received special treatment. I hate when rich people get house arrest because they are such upstanding members of the community, while poor people can’t afford good lawyers and get harsher sentences. A rich person stealing is doing it because they don’t care about others, a poor one may just be trying to survive. JT could certainly afford an alternate method of transportation besides driving drunk. He doesn’t deserve any special treatment or lenient sentence.

I think his refusal was a tactical decision based on the consequences for violating implied consent laws being less harsh than those for a dwi.
I also read Britney’s memoir. I was inclined to reserve judgement until hearing both sides. Then….Dude went on to declare “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f—ing nobody” before belting into Cry Me A River at a concert days after Britney apologized to anyone she offended by telling HER story.
I understand it’s a difficult situation but that is not the way to handle it. As a grown a$$ man he can’t fall back on “I can do better and I will do better”. That was his excuse over 3 years ago. Is this him doing better?

Yeah, I read Britney Spears’ memoir so I already didn’t like him much. LOL It seems like I am the only one who hasn't read it! I haven't read it either!

It wasn't a mistake Gayle, it was a choice.

Knowing he was drinking and driving, does this change how you feel about him? I don't care about him one way or another. I'm shocked that he's still famous. And then to deny a breathalyzer? Here defense attorneys tell you not to take the breathalyzer. I'm shocked that he wouldn't hire a car if he was going to party. I don't like the media frenzy and everyone piling on. "Former child star makes bad decision," doesn't seem like it should generate headlines. People who grow up in the spotlight rarely set examples for sound judgment.

That's what you do if you have the resources. He made a comment to the effect of, "This is going to screw up the tour." He puts a lot of people out of work and costs the backers a lot of money if he just rolls over. Not that it's right, just how it works.

Also, also - he ran a stop sign. That’s how people get killed. Someone running a red light or stop sign.

Now you know narcissists have a grandiose way of thinking of things will never happen to them. Because of course they can get out of every situation due to their status. Believe me, I am one of them and it's sad to admit-but you usually do get out of situations. JT just simply got with the wrong cop.

We were just in Sag Harbor a couple of months ago. I remember the restaurant he ate at and the roads. Can't stand that he lied about only having "one martini". BS to that. Those roads are so easy to drive. He probably had many drinks. It's terrible what he did.

I saw this article yesterday stating JT was stopped twice that night - he got a warning the first time but ignored it then got pulled over again by the same police officer. I am not sure if it's true because it's the NY Post. Before I saw the article, my husband and I were talking about this I said I was surprised he didn't get a warning and told to find another way home. JT DWI

Okay, I can't help but post this because I laughed and laughed: That is funny. I saw an Instagram clip of him from his tour. I don't know anything about him to know his baseline but he didn't look great. The comments were pretty much saying that he is clearly not doing well. I am extremely upset that someone else supposedly pulled him over and gave him a warning. DD don't warrant warnings.

My thoughts are that being a celebrity shouldn't give him any special considerations. He is very lucky that he was arrested and that no one was harmed. This could be a wake-up call for him to get the help he must really need. I hope he'll take it in order to save both his life and others.
At the same time I think he should be sentenced and have to pay the same penalty as everyone else w/jail time and community service and of course, mandatory rehab.
It's a shame that so many celebrities have substance abuse issues. All of that money and success isn't necessarily a good thing.
That he lied about it makes me think he needs a stronger sentence. He just doesn't get it.

Absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving…for anyone. This is how I feel.
And him? The man who has millions and millions of dollars? The man who could not only afford a taxi, an uber, a lyft? The man who could permanently hire a freaking driver to take him anywhere, at any hour?
Oh no. He CHOSE to risk people's lives to drive drunk.
That is a horrific, assholian move and deserves no forgiveness.
