I can think of nothing a house could offer me that would make it worth that much money to me. Especially given that I prefer older, smaller houses and don't wish to live in any very high property value areas of the country.

I can't see any photos on either of the links. I'm sure the house is amazing, and looking at that area on Google Maps, the location is amazing as well. I wish that it hasn't been a private sale, I would have loved to have seen inside the whole house and property.

I would never pay that much for a home (even if I could). But I do love that it is oceanfront property.

Great ocean viewing property. The house is huge, not hard to look at. Other then the size, of course, it looks like a house. Make sense?

Wow that view. I didn’t read the article but houses over a certain amount have to pay an extra tax I think it’s 5% so the new owner is paying even more.

I hate when people say "what a ridiculous waste of money when people are starving", but I can't help but think it applies here.

The pool looks small for that size of land. LOL
Also right on the coast with coastal erosion happening he's smart to sell it and get out.
I'd never want to live ON the ocean like that- maybe inland just on the other side of the highway.
