Following on from Gordon Ramsay's accident, I've just read that a Team GB Gold winning olympian had a small trip in her garden and is now not going to Paris. BBC Britain's Katie Archibald - a cycling gold medallist at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics - will miss next month's Games in Paris after breaking her leg in a freak accident. Archibald, 30, broke two bones in her leg and tore ligaments off the bone after tripping over a step in her garden. In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Archibald says she had surgery on Wednesday to repair the breaks and ligament damage. "I tripped over a step in the garden and managed to, somehow, dislocate my ankle; break my tibia and fibula; and rip two ligaments off the bone. What the heck," said Archibald. "That was on Tuesday, and since then I've been in full princess mode. "Had surgery yesterday to pin the bones back together and reattach the ligaments. Then hopefully this afternoon I'll be going home." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/articles/cj556zqy6n1oReminds me of my SIL who tripped over a kerb after getting out of a car and her shoulder was a mess for year, eventually needing surgical intervention. Just simple actions leading to huge issues.

Poor thing.
I remember when Roger Federer tore a meniscus giving one of his kids a bath.
You just never know what's going to get you!

A couple of weeks ago I slept in a weird position and hurt my foot making me limp for a week+. The late 40s are no joke!

aww...huge disappointment for her! These freak accidents are just that, freaky. We can take all the precautions we can think of for things we can control -- bike helmets, and seatbelts, and crossing at the light, and not standing on top of a step ladder, not hanging xmas lights on the house without help...etc. But then we walk out to the car and trip on something and boom, in the hospital.

That's awful. I always try to be so cautious about falling, but it really can be the most mundane of activities that can get you.

I fell on Saturday evening. I tripped over my feet and went down hard on my knees and elbows. I also have a large bruise on my chest which I think might have hit the door frame. It’s so easy to do! But while everything is still swollen and sore, at least nothing broke. A friend stepped out of a bus a few years ago, went over on her ankle as her foot didn’t quite land on the kerb, and she ended up breaking both of her legs and both of her elbows. 😟

Glad you're okay lesley. That must be so painful. Do take it easy while you heal.
