Welcome to the Summer Solstice ~ the longest day of the year. I think it's usually on the 21st but this year it's on the 20th. scrapmaven will be returning today ~ I hope their little adventure has been filled with new adventures and happy moments. What is everyone doing today? Dh is golfing this morning and I will be running errands before it heats up. Dinner will be Chicken Noodle Soup just because. What's on your menu? Continuing on our Iceland tour: Day 2 evening After getting back from our afternoon of touring we were getting hungry so the two of us set out to find someplace to eat dinner. Our hotel was located on a great street with lots of restaurants, shops and touristy stuff. After walking a few blocks, we saw this restaurant and loved the quaintness of it. We looked at the menu and went inside. Almost every table had a reserved sign but they seated us at a nice table for two. We ended up having the ling cod which was incredible. I even ate a roll which melted in my mouth! After dinner, we decided to walk down to the water even though it was cold and blustery, as evidenced by DH wearing a stocking cap! The views were amazing and we came upon the Sun Voyager. This landmark looks like a Viking ship and many people also think this because of the Icelandic Viking history, but this must represent a dream ship. It is made of stainless steel and pays tribute to the sun. The artwork represents hope, freedom and progress. Of course we had to snap a selfie! Then we headed back to the hotel because tomorrow is the Golden Circle of Iceland which we have all been looking forward to!

Good Morning! cadoodlebug thank you f or sharing your pictures with us. I just love looking at them. Quiet day at the office and I am not complaining. I think the heat is really getting to everyone and a lot of people are just staying home if they can. It will be another mid 90's day. I have a much needed hair appointment then another baseball game tonight. Hoping everyone has a peaceful day! Dinner will be meatloaf.

cadoodlebug Your photos bring back great memories of Iceland! Did you try the fermented shark? We did a sampler plate of Icelandic "delicacies" including shark, puffin and minke whale. I think I had the puffin and whale, but the shark's smell was enough to turn my stomach. Today is a fairly busy day as I'm covering for a co-worker who's out until Tuesday. I'm kind of pissed because he left me with a lot of junk stuff that he should have been doing but it's fairly easy work. Not sure what dinner will be tonight. My microwave is broken and hopefully being replaced today. I never realized how much I used it until I don't have it anymore. Especially for heating up lunches. If my parents come over, we'll have ravioli with pesto. If it's just me, I'll probably take a steak out of the freezer. I cleaned it out yesterday hoping to get it all in the garbage this morning but my dog woke me up late and missed the trash delivery. Now I'll have a stinky garage until Monday. Hope you all have a great day!

Good evening all
Today I had a quiet day at home as the past few days have been busy. Also my cleaner was here this morning, so my house is nice and clean. DH returned from Paris late last night - I was already asleep when he got in and he was out this morning before I woke up, so we’ll catch up over dinner tonight. I messaged DS this morning to ask how things were with his MiL and he said DDiL and her dad were talking to the doctors, but he didn’t get back to me again. They have decided to go ahead with Lucia’s birthday party on Saturday - his comment on the Facebook group was ‘celebrate Lucia and gather for a happy occasion while we can’, so I suspect things are as we expected, just maybe not as fast moving as the doctors first thought might be the case. Tonight is our vegetarian night for this week. I bought halloumi cheese yesterday and found a spice packet in the pantry for marinated halloumi, so that’s underway. I have also baked an aubergine and will cut up more vegetables - zucchini, mushrooms and sweet potato - to grill alongside the cheese.

I didn't go to work today and have nothing planned for the rest of the day except wait for my groceries to be delivered.
For dinner we are having Beef Merlot with white rice.

Hi friends! Well, I didn't wind up getting anything to eat at the game on Tuesday. Perhaps I should've, as it took us 90 minutes to get home between road work, an accident, and the express lanes not being open in our favor. We still had fun though! Tonight's dinner will be salads and chicken, and I need to figure out what DH wants to have next week so I can go shopping tomorrow. It sounds like we are going to go up to the Hershey area on Saturday.

Another hot, humid day here...We got our walk in early today, however it was still so humid, even at 7:15am😳 17 miles in 4 days...not bad of a couple of old gals!!! I'm pretty proud of us!!
Dinner will be grilled chicken thighs and corn along with the usual salad!
I have a platelet donation this afternoon, so I will be in a recliner under blankets as it is FREEZING at the donation center... they tell me it is because of th blood products seems strange as they have refrigerators for the products....anyway it will be a reprieve from the heat😊

Just home from running some errands with DH. It’s still so hot and humid here. I’m dying to get out and sit on the deck but it’s just stifling. Walker goes out for less than two minutes before he’s knocking on the door to come back in.
I received our airline reservations for the cruise this morning and they are incorrect. I requested a diversion so we could arrive the day before we sail. The tickets are booked for the day of the sailing. So this afternoon I’ll be on the phone trying to get them changed.
Supper will be leftover pizza.

taylortroop that’s so frustrating. You could potentially miss your cruise if you wait til the day of. I stopped checking Delta’s app for our Italy trip. They literally change it every time I look. I’m laying low again. The cough just won’t give up. I’ve pulled a muscle in my stomach from it. So I’m avoiding all the heat. Dh is watering all my flowers and veggies. I did put together veggies in a marinade to roast on a sheet pan with a pork tenderloin. Love seeing food pictures from your trip cadoodlebug. Happy summer solstice.

rymeswithpurple I love Hershey. Many of the conferences and sports championships from our area are held there as it’s sort of centrally located in the state. There are some amazing restaurants. Enjoy your time. I was up early and have been out in the heat power washing the deck and outside furniture. I’ll probably have it all done just in time to put it away for winter. Dinner is going to be spinach salad with strawberry’s and almonds and whatever else sounds good. I made a pitcher of sun tea and added raspberries. I’ve been guzzling it all day. I do love summer food and drinks. Take time today to spoil yourself a little. Or a lot. It’s well deserved!

Yesterday I spoke at a memorial for a dear friend. I don't enjoy public speaking so it's more of take a deep breath and don't think about it. But it was good to celebrate and share about her. I knew her for 44 years.
Today we went out for breakfast and tonight we will have some kind of Italian food. Our garden has really started to produce. So far yellow and zucchini squash, cucumbers and a bowl of sugar snap peas were ready to harvest. I can't wait for my Italian green beans, spaghetti squash , eggplant and tomatoes.

My afternoon tea with the ladies in my building was a lot of fun yesterday! I learned that my neighbours across from me who have that VERY LOUD two year old (and an older child) are going to move out for the summer while renovations are being done on their unit ... I was hoping that they were renovating in order to sell but, nope, they are staying! I am looking forward to a summer without "Loud Baby" but the renos might be just as annoying! Life in a condo! No big plans today but I am meeting up with a bunch of women this evening at a restaurant ... they are from an "over 50" Facebook group that I joined awhile back ... I'm hoping to make some new friends! ... my girlfriend is frustrating me again ... we found her this great little apartment ... I asked her yesterday what the status was on it and she said she hadn't heard back from them! . It's been a week! I asked her if she even wanted it! She said she does and she "put her application in" ... I'm thinking "You should have called them before now!" . I told her she needs to be proactive! I haven't heard from her since. Geez! Thanks for letting me vent!

teddyw: I know, right? The arrival time is so close to our embarkation time that any hiccup with be a potential disaster. I called the cruise line and they apologized and said they missed the documentation of the diversion. It will be fixed. But now I have to wait up to 3 weeks for the new tickets. Oh well…

Judy26 Thanks! Both DH and I are originally from PA (though southwest PA). We did a trip up that way through Amish Country and saw a Bears game a few years ago for our anniversary. We also always make a trip up every summer to Gettysburg since we can be there in 90 minutes now.

Last night my dh tried out his new Blackstone that he got for father's day. This might work in my favor and have him do the bulk of the cooking because as he put it "This is fun!" He made breakfast on it last night. My kitchen remained grease free!! YAY I have no clue what we are doing tonight for dinner.
