Honestly this was a huge relief. I generally do not believe in post-punishment restrictions on people but there is no reason for a person who is violent toward people in their house to have access to a gun.

Alito has been absent the last 2 days with no explanation Even a broken clock is right twice a day. So far this year, they got this and the abortion pill case right but unnecessarily delayed Trump's immunity case for 6 months. I'm happy they got this decision right. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I'm worried the conservatives decided to concede a minor point before they really anger people with one of the remaining cases. And I'm worried this will. be a really narrow ruling and they will strike down other gun safety laws. I also think it shows how originalism is complete bs - the conservative justices trot it out when it's convenient to justify some rulings but ignore it other times in order to pursue their own political agenda. Thomas's dissent just makes me mad. In theory, maybe the government can disarm dangerous people, but thats not how the real world works. That would have saved some lives here. But even with the ban, I am 100% sure the young man that murdered a couple girls would have still had a gun because his family let him have them. Even after a 5150 commitment, after threatening another girlfriend - he still had full access to all the guns and ended up murdering his new girlfriend, her friend, then himself. His family should have been held liable, they they didn't have to do anything. |

I was pleasantly surprised. Me too! This week in my town though a 19yo pregnant woman was murdered by her abuser. He’d been arrested multiple times. He stabbed and beat her to death. She had a protection order. He’d been arrested but was out on bond. She filed police reports multiple times. Even without a gun he still killed her. The amount of anger in that man must have been immense. He stabbed her in the stomach. |

I think we all know what decision will be the last one before break and since they are waiting I’m really afraid they may decide to go with immunity even though Alito said he didn’t think anyone was above the law in the past. We all know they seem to change their stance if TFG says so though.
