If money were no object, you had the physical capability, the time etc, what hobby would you try? I would learn flamenco dancing, become fluent in French, get back into photography, try archery and maybe pottery. I am going to a taster session of Tai Chi next month and I'm really looking forward to that! I feel like there's something else I have often thought I'd love to try but it's escaping me at the moment. Your turn

Fencing! Years ago I saw the movie The Mask of Zorro and was so impressed with the fencing moves. I am about as non athletic as they come but it just looks like so much fun!

I think partner dancing. I clicked on a reel once in my feed of west coast swing dancers in like improve competitions - they get a random partner and song and then just dance. I find myself always watching them Now. It looks so fun.

Well, it’s something that I used to be able to do. Piano. I loved it so much. After my first ( 😳 ) divorce, I bought a beautiful, used piano and taught myself how to play. I wasn’t the best, but I could somewhat read music. And I played the songs that I really liked.
After about 10 years, I sold that big house. And the piano. There seriously is no room in here for one or I would get one in a second. It’s a big regret of mine that I did that.

Fencing, I loved Twenty Five Twenty One and it just looks so much fun (but way harder than I imagined). Also, stained glass window making, glass blowing.

Our neighbor at the lake has one that the stand folds up so the whole thing fits in a closet.

If I was twenty again, I'd start so many things
I liked to bag a few munros and get great landscape photos. Munros are Scottish mountains over 3,000 ft and higher.
I'd love to learn to make clothes, learn all the construction techniques and types of fabric.
Learn to play a musical instrument like a piano.
Learn a couple of languages, some people find learning languages easy, not me, I struggle but I'd still love to be fluent in two or three languages.
So many things...

Animation. I’ve always been fascinated by it. I could learn to do it now with Procreate Dreams on my iPad but I don’t have the time to really learn it. Also embroidery digitizing, but my kid is figuring that out so maybe I don’t have to learn to do that.

Sewing
Work on my Spanish

DIY furniture restoration- the process takes too long and I'm over it before I even start, but I love the idea

Oh my.... You are a diverse group. I have done most of the above listed hobbies, but not glass blowing. I have done stained glass, cutting etc. But I had no where to do it safely with cats and too many tiny slicers of glass. I grew with sewing pins getting stuck in my feet. I still use a key fob I designed and cut our of leather, carved to pattern and dyed it.

I think archery would be fun. I remember 100 years ago doing it at summer camp, but haven't picked up a bow since then.
Learn the violin, or viola. I do play other instruments but have always wanted to play the violin.

Back in the 70s when just about everyone took piano lessons, and my friends would complain about it, I was so envious because I wanted to take piano lessons. LOL

I make beaded jewelry as a hobby, but I would LOVE to learn silversmithing. One of these days, I am going to find a place to take some classes.

Loved loved loved horseback riding lessons. On break due to cost.
Scuba diving
I would also love to do cake decorating again but had to give it up due to allergies. I went once a month and had a great time.

ice skating. I would need younger bones, rhythm (which I literally couldn't even spell without spell check), and access to an ice rink.

That hurts my heart. I play flute and tried to learn how to play piano but I was too impatient because I couldn't make my fingers do something different when I saw the notes. I also had a hard time reading more than one line at a time. I'd like to get fluent in French and Spanish, learn ballroom dancing, and I'm taking a beginner pickleball clinic tomorrow. We'll see if my modest tennis abilities translate.

Ocean yachting. I would lounge on deck while the crew took charge of the sailing. Glass blowing/glass modelling. A friend has taken a couple of classes and made some lovely things. Pottery. Batik and screen printing. Water colour painting. DS2 still has his arrows from when he and DH did archery.

This is good timing, because I've just been looking at the website of a local artist who does metal sculpting. DD and DSO went to his property yesterday, and I've spent the morning going through his online gallery. I said to DSO that he needs to take up welding, glass blowing, and metal sculpting so he can make me All Of The Things. The stuff that I love is all $3000 - $4000! Tread SculpturesIf I didn't have to work, and money was no object, there are so many things I'd like to do: ~ Learn an instrument ~ Learn a new language, or take up Italian again ~ Take flying lessons. I started flying lessons my late 20s, but had to give it up when I bought my house (too expensive). ~ I have my scuba dive ticket, but I haven't done it for 30 years! I would love to take it up again. ~ Dancing lessons - preferably Rock & Roll ~ Crochet and knitting ~ Embroidery ~ Sewing And after reading this thread, I am now adding glass blowing and animation to my list!

I would learn to sail. I've been sailing a few times and loved it so much. Of course I would want to be doing it as my younger self, when I was more sure-footed. I've had too many ankle sprains in my life, resulting in one ankle being a little weak and touchy at this point. It will roll at the drop of a hat so I have to be pretty careful with it, and I'm afraid a slippery sailboat deck would not be a good idea.
I'm glad I already learned an instrument (flute/piccolo), but could not get the hang of playing the piano when both hands needed to play something different. I learned to ice skate fairly well too (another thing that would be a bad idea on my weak ankle these days), and I still skated up until about 15 years ago - nothing fancy and definitely no jumping.

I do play other instruments but have always wanted to play the violin. I did archery at camp with my students last fall and got a bullseye! (Of course, the targets were set up for 11 year-olds, but my students were impressed, nonetheless ).
