Hi everyone! I went out for dinner with my mum, my aunt and my cousin last night to an excellent steakhouse ... I had salmon! . They all had steak! This was after we played Scrabble for a couple of hours at my place in the afternoon ... so fun ... of course, I did not do well ... I always lose! My chronic insomnia is really bad right now ... I am basically not sleeping at all ... I spend most nights on my sofa watching ASMR videos on Youtube which are super relaxing but don't put me to sleep ... if I go to bed, I am wide awake! This is what I posted on Facebook today: I might see if my dd's want to go to the dreaded mall today ... I need to buy some decent sandals ... flip flops are just not cutting it anymore. The three of us are going out for dinner tonight ... to a restaurant that serves oysters among other things ... yay! I have no other plans today What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

leannec I feel your pain. I hate insomnia. We had a great time with my friend but I developed food poisoning or something not too long after. Still not symptom free. So DH will do takeout tonight and I on the other hand will do saltines, bananas and applesauce. I'm sad that I will miss a family birthday party today but nothing I can do about that.

Good morning! Dh and I walked ridiculously early this morning to beat the heat ~ we’re heading to 102° today. I will spend the day with a fan on me while still journaling our trip and wading through all the pictures to decide which ones to print. This will take me through the month of July! Dinner will be our favorite chicken, greens, strawberry, etc. summer salad. Day 3 –The Golden Circle of Iceland Part 2 Before we set off on the path, this was the view. Me being goofy again. I have way too many goofy shots but they make me smile. Back to the path, we really enjoyed the beauty of what we were witnessing. The guide took another group picture along the way. I might have mentioned that on some of our trips, we might be lucky enough to get one or two group pictures. This trip we have many to remember with great fondness. One of my favorite sounds is rushing water. I think it stems back to the 50’s when I was a kid and we were traveling from Napa, CA to Pennsylvania to visit our relatives before we moved back to Hawaii. We headed up through Tahoe and the streams were so full that year and I just remember seeing lots of cabins right near the water and it filled me with happiness. When we got to the end of the pathway, we had a serious climb up some stone steps which made me a tad nervous. After walking for a while we were afforded views of this beautiful waterfall. The blue streak in the white water really caught our eye. Tomorrow: tomato soup and how to boil eggs!

Marina, I'm so sorry you have to miss a family get-together because of food poisoning. I've had it a few times in my life and it is awful. Hope you feel better soon!

We are having tempura shrimp (dont get excited, it is frozen, from Costco and it is pretty good!), frozen mac and cheese and a Caesar Salad kit I got from Sam's Club.
We need to make room in the freezer and get back to eating more vegetables. Been a little hesitant to eat a bunch of roughage after the post-Mexico food poisoning.

Marina so sorry. Did you call the restaurant or where you ate? Do you think you got it at? Still warm here, but my mom and I ran to a huge electronic recycling event and got rid of some old, remote controls, fans, etc. they recycle stuff they can’t fix but run a store where you can go in and buy the items that they have repair. Lots of old, big huge screen TVs were being dropped off.

Feel better Marina ! Another day of no plans but doing a load of towels. Can you tell what an exciting life I live..lol Honestly, I like staying home. The painter cleaned and scraped the house yesterday. It's ready to be primed on Monday. Keeping fingers crossed we get no rain the way the news is saying. Dinner tonight will be sloppy joes.

I am just home from a fun afternoon. DH bought me a gift voucher for Christmas that covered a variety of craft classes and today was #2 - pottery. We didn't use a wheel, but rolled out clay and had molds to form our pieces. I made three plates - one squarish, one triangular and one round, in descending sizes and made holes in the center of each. Once fired and glazed, they will be a tiered serving set, with metal 'pillars' between each plate. I will post pictures in a couple of weeks, once they are fired and glazed and I can pick them up.
I heard from my dad about lunchtime. Stepmum is sedated in hospital. The x-rays didn't show any breaks, but she still cant put any weight on her right lg, so something is wrong that hasn't shown up. The doctors have aid she will be in at least until Monday, but I suspect it will be much longer.
Dinner tonight is simple - steak on the grill, with potatoes and salad.

Happy Saturday!
My microwave went out last week so my BILs came over and installed the new one today. It's got a lot more bells and whistles than my old one so it will be a bit of a learning curve. You don't realize how much you use a microwave until you don't have one!
I took out some chicken breasts and have a grocery order to pick up this afternoon. I found a recipe for an instant pot chicken tikka masala so I might make that tonight or tomorrow. I may see if someone wants to go out to dinner tonight.
Hope you all have a great day!

I’m still working on outside stuff. After a couple of years of not being home much and only doing necessary tasks and maintenance I’m a bit overwhelmed. DD and SIL will be over in a bit to help carry the heavy furniture/ umbrellas out from the shed. I cleaned the grill this morning and I think it’s time I bit the bullet and buy a new one. Tearisci I hope the new microwave comes with a chef to make your meals! sueg That sounds like so much fun. What a thoughtful gift. Dinner for me will probably be a sandwich or some chilled fruit. It’s hopefully the last day of sweltering weather. I have no desire to eat heavier meals when it’s this hot.

I ended up taking half of it home because I can never eat the whole portion ... normally I eat it at about midnight but I didn't so I will eat it at midnight tonight I don't know if we have that place in Calgary ... I haven't heard of it so maybe not ...

BFF here and I are trying to see if we want to go to our local Keg. We might opt for Mediterranean food. We are kind of tired of the keg.

I went with my bestie to a Dog Festival today which is a fundraiser for the Humane Society (where we adopted Walker). So many people had their dogs with them but Walkers manners aren’t good enough yet for a public event. There were a ton of booths with lots of free giveaways. I came home with a bag full of stuff including toys, food and a Canada Day bandana! This is Day 6 of the heatwave. Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit cooler. We will see. Supper is leftover pork chops. Here is the swag I brought home from the festival.

My friends and I have been going to Cactus Club a lot lately ... they do a nice salmon too! Our CC is on Douglas St. right downtown and is in a dangerous area. Lots of homeless in doorways with weapons. They should move out of the core.

Hi guys! Just popping in for a bit. Today is our 10th wedding anniversary. Our friends invited us over to ride their boat and hang out at the lake. TheY just bought the boat like 3 weeks ago. It was a damn near perfect day. We drove the boat out to a sandbar area and then we popped up camping chairs in the water and just sat waist deep in the water all day. We climbed back aboard the boat for some food. I made a Greek pasta salad and some cowboy caviar with tortilla chips. They also brought some chips and a variety of meats and cheeses for sandwich wraps. We are on our way home now. I will have rechauffe for dinner. Plenty left. It was a super nice way to spend our anniversary.

jeremysgirl Happy Anniversary! Sounds like a great day! We went to watch ODGS play in a baseball tourney. He had 6 hours in between games so we only stayed for the first game. Going to had out for a walk. It has gotten really overcast so the temp will drop enough that I won't melt. Dinner is rechauffe.

Happy Anniversary jeremysgirl and Jeremy. You picked the perfect way to spend your special day. I'm so happy to hear it. I hope that you'll continue celebrating through the weekend.
I'm annoyed, but not too much. I showed up for my knitting lesson 30 minutes away and the teacher/store owner wasn't there. She forgot to write it in her calendar. I told her not worry about it. However, I don't think I'll call for another lesson, because I don't have the energy to drive back and forth. It happens. Not a big deal.
Yds and his gf showed up a few hours ago, but had to leave to attend a baby shower. We'll see them tmw, cause I'll likely be asleep when they get back.
She agreed to go for a mani-pedi w/me tmw or Monday. I'm looking fwd to it.
Dh is gonna have tacos for dinner, because it's super hot and neither of us want to warm up the kitchen. Speaking of microwaves...
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, tribe.

I'm sorry about your lesson scrapmaven. I know it really inconvenienced you but I encourage you to take the lesson if not somewhere else than give that another shot. I feel like this is just holding you back from an enjoyable hobby.

leannec I also had salmon. I was home by myself, so I opened the pack of hot smoked salmon fillets, and made a creamy lemon and caper sauce with salmon and pasta. It was so good. Happy anniversary to Jeremy and jeremysgirl! I love that photo, so both look so relaxed and carefree. It sounds like a perfect day to me.
