The local stores here do not have reduced produce, or meats. The closest store to us does reductions on many things, but they are all offered right in the place they normally live. The produce tends to be items that are very ripe in comparison to the rest of what's out. And it's just on a rolling rack right in the produce department. I know I've seen red stickers on meats that are within a day or two of their sell by date. Not somewhere special, but just in with everything else. Same with the bakery. You might walk by and see a few single serving desserts with big red stickers because they were made yesterday and didn't sell. Pre-made hoagies will be marked down similarly. If they make the sandwiches Monday morning, then by Monday evening they are marked down. And they will just be in the cooler next to the full price items. Dairy items as well--walking down the aisle, you'll see big red stickers. Our Kroger has a special mark down area where they put their meat. Usually between deli meats and the other meat. Everything is kinda thrown in there together. Walmart here will have markdown meat in their regular places

I’ve learned to check in mid morning on Friday’s for marked down meat, the produce is more random.
