I absolutely don't, because what's the point of cooling down the house if you are also heating it up?
So, I'm only cooking on the stove top, which doesn't broadly heat up the house, and making food in the slowcooker. Right now there is beef stew in the slowcooker.
So, do you use the oven and AC at the same time?

Yep. Some things still have to be cooked in the oven. I do what I can with my AF. I live in the south. My AC is on more than it's not. I keep it on auto. Even if we have a day in January that gets the house over 72, it kicks on. I don't do hot.

I have never understood this argument. My inside temp in the summer is 68. It's not much different than my winter temp of 66. What difference does it make?
And then my oven insulated. So the only hot time is when I open to put the meal in and take the meal out.
Anyway, I just have never understood this argument if you have AC. Unless of course your idea of AC temp is like 78 or something.

Live in S. Florida so AC is on at least 355 days a year. So yes, the oven is used when the AC is on.

but the young adults in my house do I feel that.
We don't have central AC, so my rule is that they have to turn off the window unit & turn on the exhaust fan if they must use the oven. The other kids & my father can use their bedroom window ACs to stay cool.
But I'm also a PITA and show them my electric bill, and they're old enough that they get it (at least most of the time).

Yes, I'll use the oven when I have the A/C on. Not everything can be cooked on a stove top. The way our place is laid out, the oven doesn't really make the rest of our apartment really hot other than the kitchen.

I try not to. If I can cook something in the toaster oven, I'll do that. I will actively plan cooking around not turning on the oven. I got out of my way in summer to eat cold foods when I can.

I don't use the oven much as I do try to fix cooler type foods during the summer months. If I needed to, I would not even give it a second thought to turn the air off. Its usually one like 30-60 minutes. I do have to say, Colorado Springs has reasonble utility rates compared to most.

I just don’t feel like the oven heats up the house. Of Course we live in a mild area and this is the first house I’ve had with AC - I did use the oven the the other way while it was on.

Of course. When it is hot weather we eat more meals that are "cool" foods, but we use the oven if needed and never even consider doing otherwise.

Well, yes. I'm not concerned about the brief amount of time it needs to be on (hour, tops?) vs being comfortable inside.
The AC is going most of the year here.

I try not to only because I don’t want to work over a hot stove. I will use the crockpot, instant pot, air fryer or just make some type of salad for dinner.
We live in the PNW and don’t use the ac often as it usually cools down enough at night to leave the windows open and cool the house down. If we need ac I’m not offsetting the cool air in the house with a hot stove/oven.
To me it’s like leaving the front door or windows open when it’s snowing outside and the heater is running. It doesn’t make sense to me. But I know lots of people who think nothing of it. Different strokes and all that. 😊

I don’t like to use the stove or the oven in summer, we do a lot of grilling, crock pot, or instant pot meals. If I have to have to have to do something with an oven I’ll opt for my air fryer or toaster oven.

I do if I have something that needs to go in the oven. Such as our regular Saturday night pizza.
The times when I might consciously decide NOT to use the oven would be on those days where it's not quite hot enough for the AC but almost... And if I put the oven on it might push the house to AC temps. But I much prefer to have the windows opened, and I love sleeping with open windows, so on those "almost" days I might choose a different menu.

If absolutely needed, yes.
Ovens warm homes when used. So the AC has to work harder to kick the temp back down.
But during the summer and into early fall, I do a lot of stove top cooking.
Ds will warm up her waffles and pancakes I cook and freeze but that is at 6am.
And sometimes I want to bake but do so early in the morning.

We have central air and it pretty much runs at some point 12 months a year. DH keeps the house so cold that I've been known to bake just to warm up the kitchen a little! Having grown up with window units I do understand the need to minimize oven use in the summer.

AC is on here from May (although it was very late May this year) through October. It would be severely limiting in food preparation if I didn't use the oven. However, I try to use the Breville countertop oven and crock pot as much as possible.

I try not to. My a/c really struggles at cooling the house and power is very expensive here. Like today, I'll have the a/c set at 78 but it likely won't get cooler than 80 in the house. If I were to turn the oven on for any length of time I'd just be pumping that much more heat into the living areas that the a/c couldn't combat. So typically I use the toaster oven or cook on the stovetop or bbq.

On days that we need a/c I don't use the oven and try not to use the stovetop. Those are good air fryer or Instant Pot days.

I think my oven was poorly insulated when it was installed, so it does heat the house up pretty badly. It's time to get a new one anyway, as this one is definitely not heating consistently and heats way cooler than it should. (My dad tried to tell me I can just adjust it, etc. and read the manual - until I pointed out that this one is around 35 years old and the most digital thing about it is the clock!)

I'm in Texas so we have central AC. I don't use my big oven very much but I use my toaster convection oven most of the time.

I also buy rotisserie chicken that I can reheat in the microwave.
Also a fan of cooking jacket potatoes in the microwave (they come out perfect on the potato setting, which is like, 4 minutes.
Lots of cold salads, lots of sandwiches.

We did not have AC growing up, so in the summer, we rarely used the oven in the hottest part of summer. We do have AC now, so that isnt an issue

I still use it. However, I feel the opposite of you. I don’t notice a difference when using the oven but I can feel a bit of difference when cooking on the stovetop. Not enough to change my plans though.
