Just curious how you all you use your garage, if you have one?
For us, cars always had the priority. When we had four cars at home, 2 went in the garage. It was a 3-car garage but the 3rd space is too small for most cars. The 3rd stall is storage, our only storage since we don’t have a basement or attic. I know some people in our community cannot fit their pickup truck in the garage, too long.

We are in an apartment and share the underground garage with the occupants of the other 5 apartments - each apartment has one parking space. Parking spaces are for cars - there really isn’t any way you could use your space for storage given the set up. Each apartment also has storage space on the same level as the garage, but in the residential part of the building.

When I lived in my house we had an attached double garage and always parked the vehicles in there ... I live in Canada and there is no way I would choose to park on the driveway in the winter! Now I am in a condo so I have heated underground parking ... it is so awesome!

in 40 yrs we have had our house, I used the garage for cars maybe 8 yrs total. recently I cleared the car space and did get my car in when we left for several months.. 4 inches clearance on one side and 12 inches clearance on other. older house does not really fit new cars. and very small house with limited storage.. so basement/garage is storage mostly. the basement/garage is under the house.

We're a one car household (Which I guess is one of those normal for our house, but weird to anyone else things. ) and we have a 2 car garage. So one half has room for the car and the other half is a hot mess. Eventually the kids want to put an air hockey table and such out in one half. So they are pretty determined to help clean the hot mess side. Now, my parents live in a neighborhood that was built almost entirely in the 1960s and all of the homes from that area have 1 car garages. And growing up, only 3 of the houses on our block actually used their garage for a car. One had actually removed the garage door and created a tiny in-law apartment in the space instead. And even now, neither my parents (still in that same neighborhood)n nor their neighbors park in their garages. They all have very large amounts of driveway space and they all park outside. At one point when I was still living there, we had 5 cars & a boat in the driveway and the only vehicles in the garage were a motorcycle and a bunch of bikes. These days their neighbor's situation is similar, only it's several cars & an RV all in the driveway.

I am not sure how to answer your poll. We have a 2 car garage. My car is in one side. The other side has 2 "machines " that DH uses for his woodworking hobby. Some boxes of stuff are on that side also. Our pull down stairs to the attic are on that side also.

we have an attached 2-car garage but it's an older house and only one of our cars even fits into it (the Mini Cooper) but we use it as a home gym and some storage. DH also had a 4-car garage (metal building) built with extra space at the back for a workshop. Currently it has 2 cars in it (both non-running), a workshop, and a BUNCH of stuff he needs to go through and figure out where it goes or if it can get tossed/donated/sold.
I don't drive but yes, we have 2 vehicles parked on the driveway and 2 more parked on the grass next to the driveway (our family car (Ford Flex) and the commuter car (Mini) plus DD17's Mustang and an old pickup.
If I had the choice - we would have less cars AND less stuff but...

Three car garage and we park three cars in there. It’s pretty oversized so we also have storage and a small corner for dh’s work bench and some tools.
When the kids are home we put up a covered car port thing (metal frame with tarp deal) for their car. It rains so much here, you get moss growing on you car if you park uncovered for long. Now that neither lives at home full time we pulled that down and gave it away on a buy nothing group.

I have a two-car garage but it's just me as an adult that lives here so half of it is for storage and the other half is for my Pilot.

We have an oversized 3 car garage. It houses a 23’ wakeboard boat and a Sequoia in the 2 bay spot with a work bench along the back wall where the sequoia parks and in the single car bay is a workshop with tools between the sequoia and the parking space, a table saw close to the roll up door, a workbench along the outside wall and shelving from about half way from the roll up door to the house wall. This space is also shared with a large Honda VTX1800C and 2 kids bikes. The 2 adult bikes are on the opposite outside wall next to the boat. There are 4 kayaks hoisted to the ceiling. Currently my school laser is living in the workshop space too.
We don’t have a basement nor useable attic space.

I have a two car garage and it's just me so i park in the garage. I also have junk in there too including a beat up old couch and boxes from a cleaned out storage unit after my divorce. I have no desire to go through those boxes and really nowhere that I would have to put stuff in my current place. My mom always offers to come over and help me go through them but I just don't.
When it's a bit cooler, I will try to do some cleaning out.

Please don't get me started. We have a three car garage and it is full of junk. Drives me crazy, it is a dumping ground for D/H. Things like a motorcycle that has not been touched in six years, a broken wheel barrel and a broken 100 gallon fish tank which D/H says "are still good" and if broken can be fixed though it will never happen.
I barely tolerate it, but as long as he keeps his junk out of the house I can unhappily live with it. I would love to be able to put my car in there, what a luxury.

Copied from another post:
If not for my grandson's hockey gear, my 3 car garage would hold 2 cars, 2 cabinets, a tool chest, trash & recycling cans, and a grill. I love it to be pretty much empty! I'm widowed, so no guy stuff. It's a townhouse, so no need for yard stuff.

We have a one car garage- in the winter, I park in it. In the summer, I park on the driveway, mostly because we are hauling out the grill or gardening stuff all the time. Also, the garbage smells way worse in the summer and I dont want my car to smell like that!

I chose Oprah because my tools (saws, drill press, large tool boxes) take top priority in my garage. It's not storage per se, although there is stuff stored in there, it's more of a "working" garage for me. I build lots of stuff and do all my own home improvements so tools are important for me.

I chose Oprah and none of the answers fit.
We have a 2 car garage with extra side space for the washer and dryer and storage.
Dh is a wood worker and has a ton of tools and work bench.
We also have storage containers.
So it has been a 1 car garage plus.
My van is parked inside and dh is out front.
Then the rest of storage and for dh's tools and what not.
Also my race bike and kids items like our basketball arcade game from Costco that folds up

Our garage is technically a 2 car, but it sucks. It's so short that when we added a work bench for DH, that left less than 6" between it and the garage door for my car and his truck can't even fit.
So, it's just storage and his work space for his power tools. It's not necessary in GA to put the cars in the garage. In PA, again, the garage was small and I rarely ever put the car in it. When we lived in IA we had a very roomy 2.5 car garage that also had room to be a workspace. Our cars were always in the garage there.

I said this in the thread about weird things in your house, but we basically have an 8 car garage. The 2 car garage has our 2 vehicles, the other side has the car lift and yard equipment. But I lived overseas and in military housing for years without a garage or even decent parking, so I’m very grateful for all the room

One of the reasons I liked this house so much was that it had three car spaces. Two for the vehicles and one for the trash cans. workbench and cupboards, shoe storage and a fridge. The space in front of my vehicle is about 6 feet longer than my vehicle needs, so we've got snow blower, kayaks, etc in front of that.
We get a fair amount of hail and show, so using the garage for the vehicles makes sense to me.

We have a 2 car garage with a minivan and small SUV parked in it, so there isn't a lot of extra space. Our 2 trashcans (regular and recycled), lawn mower, tool chest, snow shovels, shelves with garden and lawn equipment. That's it.

3 car garage. The single bay is my crafting space, all built out. We do park one car in there, but the rest is dh tools and loads of bike stuff.

We have a two car garage. Cars are always parked in there. We do have shelves, a work bench and a gym out there, but when everything is where it belongs, the cars fit with no issue. We do move the Miata out to workout.

We have a 3 car garage. In the winter, there are 3 cars in the garage. In the summer, there are 2. Our daughter's car has to be outside to make room for the lawn mower and all the summer stuff.

We have 2 garages—a large upper garage and a smaller garage that is tucked under the upper garage. The yard is sloped, so we have a walk out basement and that gives us room to make the lower garage accessible to drive in to. I hope that makes sense!
We have space to park 3 cars, 2 in the upper and one in the lower, plus an additional “bay” in each garage that doesn’t have a garage door. The lower garage is all DH’s for a woodworking shop and the upper garage is for the cars and a few other things to store that make sense to have up there—snow shovels in the winter, a small workbench, his camping stuff, etc. We also have a garden shed in the back where we keep the lawnmower, snowblower, rakes, shovels, hoes, etc for yard work.
I’d say that 60% of the reason why we bought this house was for the garage/storage space.

Our garage is a decent size. We put our two cars in there, and there is also storage shelves on one side, some shelves and a fridge on the other size, and pallet racking at the end.
I was really surprised to find out on previous threads how many Peas don't use their garage for their cars. Most people on this poll do, but previous threads made it seem like hardly anyone keeps their cars in the garage.

We have a very deep, air-conditioned two-car garage. It's the square footage of a 4-car garage, but the space doesn't work for more than two cars.
We have 6' tall shelves along each wall. We don't have usable attic space and we have a ton of Christmas stuff including 2 6'tall nutcrackers. Next to the entrance to the house is all the stuff we use a lot, including coolers, wine glasses and party supplies. Back wall is shelves with Christmas stuff, bins of stuff the kids left at our house over the years and a large workshop area. There's about 12' of space between the cars and the workbench. That's where bikes, ping pong table, pressure washer, pool stuff, etc. go. The wall with my art space has shelves for more Christmas and shelves for sports/beach/boat stuff. It's very well organized so it's usually pretty neat.

3 car garage, but tight so we just use it for 2 cars, tools, storage, and all of my DH’s bikes. When youngest goes to college in august we will likely clean out further so it’s a more organized and useful space but DH has a pretty decent set up to work on bikes or fix stuff rn.
