I have noticed this saying on so many scrapbooking videos on You Tube, and it (irrationally) drives me bonkers: "Now I'm going to go and ink the edges.... now I'm going to go and stick this down... now I'm going to go and tear this paper... now I'm going to go and add some glitter..." Where are you going to go? Ugh! Why can't you just say "Now I'm going to ink the edges." You don't have to "go and" anything!! And it's not just one scrapbooker, it's many! Im guilty of *fixin to* go or do anything... Im fixin to go to the store.. do you need anything... im fixing to call your mom... It was pointed out to me.... and i hear myself say it every time... but i cant stop myself from saying it..

Pull your big girl panties up. Don't get your panties in a wad. Can't stand the word panties. Can't stand the word Hear hear! Absolutely agree with both of you

Lately I’m hearing the word colorway quite often, as in “This dress is an available in several colorways?” Ugh and WTF? 🙄 My feeling on color v colorway, and I may be totally off base here: if something is a single color, then I’d use color. For a print or something in a mix of colors, then I’d use colorway.

I thought of a couple more - 1. UNBOXING. Why can't you just open a box? Why does it have to be extra fancy unboxing for your Instagram video? 2. CURATED. Same idea, you chose stuff, you made a collection, you didn't curate anything unless you work in a museum. Related: "Haul" It's "shit that I bought", not a haul.

What's wrong with that? That's a very normal and long time saying in my world. I didn’t realise that! The phrase is new to me. 😄 If you’re a designer, architect, artist or associate, it’s always been in your worlds. If not it could be new. Maybe because of its use in social media spurring an interest in trends and design? Another one is color story. My college roommate, a retired CFO, began using color story this spring. Not her native vocabulary 😀

Live, love, laugh on signs. so 1990s I LOVE those signs. Not! Mine: Coming of age in the 70s, my first car keychain was tooled leather (from an art fair) live live laugh. It matched the times, just like this plaque. Thanks for sharing.

I have a friend that says "You know what I mean" after every sentence. Drives me nuts. Oh my gosh, one of my bosses says, "You hear me?!" with a laugh every other sentence as he regales us with tales of how he goes to other stores in our district and helps them out of a jam when short staffed, and paints himself as some retail messiah sent from heaven.

Corporate speak gets on my nerves: wheelhouse, skill set, circle back... I was so glad to leave the lingo of the education world. “Remember your why.” I couldn’t remember $hit. I went from the education world to the business world and for some reason, the business lingo irked the crap out of me. "Let's take a deeper dive, let's circle round, loop in," etc. My boss was very well educated (as we were reminded) and it seemed he couldn't say a sentence without the jargon.

“The sound of freedom” I live near the Camp Pendleton marine base. They often have artillery/mortar/etc practice. Depending on what they are using and how the atmospheric conditions are, it sometimes sounds like they are right in your backyard. The house will shake and the windows will rattle. There are also a few people on NextDoor who will ask “what is that?”, thinking it may be an earthquake or shooting or something. And there will be multiple people responding “That is the sound of freedom.” Or someone with PTSD or someone will say their child can’t sleep (they often practice until midnight), and the response is “sound of freedom.” I don’t know why that response bugs me so much. Maybe because a dozen people will respond with the same message on one post! My bedroom window opens to Ft Carson playing some type of musical call at 6:25, 6:30, 12:00, 5:00 and 10:00. The artillery is even louder (but not thankfully on a schedule). Our Next Door and Ring app always have comments like this. While I get what people are saying, it does get old. Just be nice and answer the comment with what it really is or don't respond.

When ordering at a restaurant... "I'll do the fish..." Do? I'll have or I'd like... Hacks instead of tips Reset instead of cleaning up The "do" in that sentence makes me think he's going to vex some poor trout or salmon.

The ones that annoy me are: “It is what it is”. (Well of course, what else would it be besides what it is - ugh) “At the end of the day”. (So overused) “Not my circus, not my monkeys” (I know you don’t have a circus or monkeys) I love two of those phrases. Someone said they ground them, and that makes a lot of sense to me. "It is what it is". This is the situation and there is no use worrying about it. Accept it and go from there. "Not my circus, not my monkeys". This is someone else's issue- I shouldn't spend my time worrying about it. Before my psych meds I had a really hard time compartmentalizing. I couldn't stop thinking about both of the above scenarios. Those phrases remind me to compartmentalize and let stuff go that I can't do a damn thing about, anyway.

" it is what it is". well of course it is but how does that help me? I am using that quite a bit at the moment, but I use it referring to myself. i was diagnosed 2weeks ago with a benign brain tumour, which most likely has to be removed. I don’t want something growing in my brain, but I also don’t want someone cutting my head open. ‘It is was it is’ perfectly sums up how I feel. Something is happening that I don’t want to happen and I have no choice but to accept one of the options. It just is, and nothing is going to change that, short of a medical miracle.

"everything happens for a reason"
it is meaningless. i guess it's meant to say it's ok your house burned down or your kid just died.
life is random.
