I'm so tired of this. I had applied to a position I was very excited for and got the thanks but no thanks email today.
Then I got another email (different company) saying hey, let us know if you're interested in this job you applied for. The email address is juuuuuust slightly off from the company address and the grammar is also off. It could be legit, but after my last experience I'm VERY leery of anything that looks hinky. I said yes I was interested, we'll see what they come back with.
I'm so tired of this. I just want to work for a reputable company who will pay me what I'm worth. Why is that so hard to find?
Just venting.

I hate that second guessing part…scam or no scam?
What type of job are you looking for?

The more I look at it the more it's a phishing scam. I'm a graphic designer, I've got a degree and 20 years experience. I'm stuck because I spent a large number of years working in a very niched job, which means I'm really really good at one slice of the pie and ok at the rest of it. There are good reasons I stayed and I'm ok with the fact that I was let go. But it has shaped what's next for me.
I have spent the past 9 months growing and learning career wise. I'm grateful for the time and the fact that my kids are both old enough to not need that constant supervision younger kids do. I've been able to take on volunteer work in my field and do what I need to do to set myself up for success.
I'm just angry, now I get to filter every job email through a mental is this a scam checklist before I can act on it. it's so frustrating and uncalled for. Plus coming on the heels of the thanks but no thanks (which was legit) it was like a one two punch.
I'll shake it off, just wanted to vent.

That stinks. When I was starting my biz, I made $ by illustrating in-house-published textbooks for the science department at the community college. Might be an option?

I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I didn't even know this was a thing until it happened to my DS. Wth! It stinks that we have to be so on guard.

I totally understand. I got laid off a month ago and my problem isn't scammers yet, but people who interview and ghost me after saying they are moving my name on to the next round. One even said to contact her if I didn't hear from her by a certain time, which I did, and crickets! It's frustrating as hell.

This too shall pass!
I remember when my daughter was excited about a job that turned out to be a place selling vacuums - and she was asked to buy one in order to sell them! You know your worth and you WILL get a good job!!
