I read an article that said by end of the year the exhibit should be open. I think they expanded the previous exhibit and redid it. Excited to see them again!!

Once they are acclimated, they expect the Panda exhibit to be open later this summer. Their enclosure is now 4-5 times larger than it was in 2019. News is making it sound like they can be leaving China any day now.

Let the excitement go over a bit so it is not packed. Yeah, there will be some really long lines in the beginning! I remember one year waiting almost 2 hours to see the pandas. And I think it is cool that one of the pandas that is coming is related to two other pandas that were here before, a grandmother and daughter (who was born in San Diego).

We had pandas at the Memphis zoo when we lived there. I loved them so much. I'm envious you are all getting them again.

I took my son to see the baby panda when they first allowed it to be seen. I remember that there was a long line. I usually bought year-long passes so we used to go quite often. My son adored spending the day at the zoo. We had seen the adults numerous times, and were really excited to see the baby. So is it the baby that was born in San Diego that will be returning? I am bummed that I will miss seeing them now that I moved out of the state.

I loved living in DC when the pandas were there, especially the baby. I had a friend that worked at the zoo so I would meet him early when the zoo opened, and he would take me into restricted areas so we could get a better look at the pandas. It was super cool and I got some great photos.

The news has had several clips showing the pandas eating. We are surprised at how vicious their teeth look. All the other photos or videos I have seen over the years did not include open mouths. Those pandas have some sharp teeth.

So is it the baby that was born in San Diego that will be returning? It is her son that is coming. There have been several babies born in San Diego. The mother of the one that is coming was born in 2007. She is the daughter of Bai Yun, San Diego’s first panda.
