I'm on the sofa in the lounge while DH mixes me a G&T. It's been hot and muggy for the past few days and now today we've had rain and it's windy. Much more comfortable. The channel is very lumpy. Next we're putting a nature program on the TV.
Does that paint a picture?

I just finished my nails, RHNJ, and a load of laundry. Waiting for my nails to be dry enough that they won't dent when I do another load of laundry and make up the guest bed.
SIL is on her way for a short visit this weekend and I want the house in tiptop shape. I'll be working while she's here so I need to get everything done today! Fortunately, not much left to do.

There is NOTHING I love more than treasure hunting in the wild. It's a lot harder to find things nowadays since they're a lot savvier at most secondhand stores, and I have to wade through a lot more 90s/00s mom decor now, but there are still some cool vintage finds Too bad we can't go together some time!

I just got off work a couple of hours ago. I showered and am now relaxing with a cold glass of water in front of my computer in my desk in my living room. After I finish reading 2peas I'll go start dinner.

I would not want to be in a boat out there tonight.

It's 7:50am Friday and I am Peaing on the couch with my first coffee of the day, watching the ABC news. I don't start work until 9:30am. so I have plenty of time to relax first. I might even get some scrapping done.

My goodness, so many fabulous things you’re all doing! Cruises, vacations, at the pool, beach rental, getting your hair done, art camp, San Francisco….. Ok, not everyone perhaps - I also see getting ready for work, watching Bluey, cleaning the bathroom….
Me? Just got back from Happy Hour. Now you haven’t lived if you’ve not yet been to Happy Hour at the retirement village where you reside. Let me set the scene…. You’re about to turn 70 next week, and you’re one of the youngest there. You stand in line at the bar while those in front of you try to remember their PINs for their bank cards. Of course, even when they do remember, you still have to wait for the bar staff (fellow residents) as they try to remember how to work the computer system. The person next to you daringly gets two bottles of beer at a time so he doesn’t have to get up and walk to the bar so often. “It’s my knees” he tells you. The hot topics of conversation are health and grandkids. Uh oh, someone isn’t happy - they’ve found another person is sitting in Their Chair. “No, of course it’s ok” they say, “you can sit anywhere, no-one reserves chairs around here. But I do usually sit there”. Hmmm….. passive-aggressive maybe? But wait! What’s this? Oohhhh - raffles!! $1 a ticket? Woohoo, let’s splash out and get 5! A hush descends as the raffle master takes up the microphone. “Green ticket, on its own, number 3”. Whoa, the person 2 seats down has won. Cheers and applause - “yay, someone in our group won!”. They collect their winnings, and proudly display their crisp $20 note. Next one wins $15, then $10, then $5. Then it’s on to the blue tickets. So many prizes, so many winners. And now the raffles are over, and people are starting to leave - not much point in staying once the raffles are finished. They're the highlight of the evening. After all, it’s getting late, time to go home. “Gosh yes, look it’s already 5:50pm. The bar will be closing in 10 minutes.”
And so now we’re home, happy hour is over.
I tell you, Friday night at a retirement village is hot stuff. Way too exciting!

It is almost 9 am on Friday. The Beast and I are lazing about the back patio after an interesting smell walk.
Neither DH or Jay have the patience for a smell walk. At times, the Beast will decide to just lay down and observe, so I sit with him. 5 minutes. 15 minutes. Doesn’t matter.
Trying to determine whether he is reactive or just puppy. The ducks and geese are observing critters. Today he encountered deer. There were 4. He was so intent on one of them he missed 2 other ones. One is the spike buck and I only spotted the other one because it stood up. Only its back was visible. We retraced our steps and another deer was standing at the end of the lane behind our property. He tried to bolt, but he was easier to stop the second time. He sat and watched her for about 5 minutes, until she moved off out of sight.
Now, I am waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. The Beast will be given an apple. And I hope to finish my book before the heat moves in.

I'm avoiding SM but need something chill while I sip my 2nd cup of coffee. Currently Pongu has discovered he can climb the storage I have in my craft/office closet. He's also very chatty. I don't remember ever having a chattier cat! I'll be off to researching Springfield, MO though because we're planning a day trip so I can get my newest tattoo.
Now he's chasing his crooked tail.. /laugh
