I’m selling a bunch of my teaching stuff on FB Marketplace (I also gave away so much in my local Buy Nothing group). I have some really nice plastic book boxes for sale…like new, a whole class set. I’m selling them for $20…and that’s a STEAL! I just had a lady ask if I would be willing to deliver them….to Oxnard….which is over an hour away. For $20. Um…no. Sorry!
FYI…I’m keeping most of my teaching stuff….just thinning it out. I’m not leaving teaching forever!

I sell a lot of FB Marketplace ... small things that I buy on Amazon and then change my mind usually ... too lazy to send things back. Some items are only $10 ... people want me to meet them downtown ... I'm not driving ANYWHERE! . Pick up only!!!

Leannec, I think I saw a commercial recently that Staples might start doing Amazon returns In the US, you can do an Amazon return at Whole Foods, The UPS Store, Staples, and Kohl’s. It’s really convenient and I’m sorry that the Canadians don’t have this option!

I don't do marketplace much but the give away free things get me the most. Recently I had a leather recliner that I thought I'd offer for a buck (free really, had to enter dollar amount).
The same asks and near demands have me flabbergasted. And the what do you mean it's not power, I can't have that!!! type complaints. For something I was giving away. Move along! Sheesh

But that's what you get when you live in the country. I very seldom return something from Amazon, just because it is such a major hassle. I am most frustrated when something arrives damaged, and trying to either get it replaced or my money back. I have started ordering more from WalMart .com - for the most part the prices are the same, I can return to Walmart which is only about 25 miles away and I get it way faster than with Prime. Target and Walmart usually get to me in 2 days, sometimes NEXT DAY, but Prime takes almost a week, sometimes longer, now.

Amazon Prime in Canada is fast ... next day or the following day usually ... I wonder why it's so slow for you? Location. I live in a rural area, 2 hours from anywhere! I wasn't even able to get a decent internet service until a few years ago. No wired broadband in my area still to this day. I previously had satellite internet (which is expensive and terrible). Now I get a broadcast internet that is relayed from a phone company about 50 miles away from me. I get the signal beamed to my house from a grain elevator that is about 6 miles from me. Works pretty well! I just placed an Amazon order this morning (Friday). Estimated delivery will be Wednesday of next week. Granted, we are dealing with the weekend in there - but that is pretty much the standard time it takes to get something from Amazon, with Prime.

Most stuff comes from Ontario. Nice when the occasional thing comes from Calgary or Richmond. I saw that Staples will be taking returns. Staples is an hour away from me but I do have Canada Post and Purolator in my town so that's easy. Selling online is painful.

When we were living in Europe, this concept was so unfamiliar to my friends. Granted, Belgium is a small country, but to be so far away from anything is foreign (LOL) to them. It’s also why that lack of public transportation doesn’t make sense to many Europeans. When DD was learning to drive, we had her practicing her highway driving while on a road trip from Virginia to Minnesota. She was driving through southern Wisconsin and said that she was creeped out—that she hadn’t seen another car in 20 minutes. We must have been in a pocket without others, but I started watching and she was right. It was probably another 10 minutes before we saw a car! It was a lot easier to practice getting on and off an entrance/exit ramp without any other cars to deal with, unlike northern Virginia and a DC suburb!

What drives me nuts is when people don't list things as sold. I have messaged several people about items. This is what I say, "if this is available I would like it, when would be convenient to pick up, how would you like me to pay". And almost immediately they will just mark it sold. No response to me. Just mark it sold. If it is sold, just mark it so in the first place. How hard is that? That has happened the last 5 things I have sent messages about. The other is people who list things in such and such town, local pick up only and when you message them they say they have moved or they actually live in such and such and it is easily an hour away.

There is no one out on these roads at night, since the one past our farm dead ends and is a level B service. So if we see someone, we make note of them. I have a friend from the East Coast and he says a lot of the big city people would be terrified of the 'nothing' out here. LOL We do have a stop light in our county. It is about 30 miles from me, but there is ONE! LOL

Leannec, I think I saw a commercial recently that Staples might start doing Amazon returns They do- I've gone to Staples to return some Amazon items that I'd ordered for work twice now. It's over by the print shop- there should be a big sign for Amazon returns.
