My passport I believe expired in November 2023. Can I renew online and how hard is it.? I don’t really need it right now for anything but figured I should get it renewed

The online renewal system is in the testing phase. They only take so many applications per day. You can renew by mail. My son just did. You fill out the form online, print it, and mail it in with your old passport and photo.

Got ours back in about 3 weeks, not paying for any expedited processes. |

My brother just did this last week. His expired. He couldn't renew it, but had to start the process over and was able to complete the application online, then needed to print and will take it to the Post Office to file. Thus, it will take a bit longer as its considered new rather than a renewal.
I think it depends on how long ago it expired.

Do it now while you're not under any pressure of needing it for a scheduled trip. It's like a gift to your future self.  |
