I tried to search to see if there was anything here and didn’t have any luck. Anybody watch this or is watching? I keep hearing good things about it, but I have no clue what it’s about.

We watched the first episode and liked it but never got back to it because other shows kept popping up. People have recommended it on the Netflix/Prime thread.
A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

I decided to start over on this before watching season 3. I started back on the first season last night. It is a good series. My only problem with it is it makes me really hungry. Especially for beef, which I gave up eating at least ten years ago.

I did a free trial of Disney+ up here in Canada to watch it. I really disliked the first season (obnoxious characters and so much yelling!) but I enjoyed the second. I don’t know if I like it enough to actually pay for a subscription to watch it.

I watched most of the first season, and I honestly can't figure out what the appeal is.

I had forgotten how stress-inducing the first season was! All the cussing and yelling and throwing things! And if someone doesn’t smack cousin Richard pretty soon, I am going to crawl through the screen and do it myself. My gosh he is annoying. I have one more episode of the first season to go. I hope it gets more peaceful in season two and three.

I watched about half of the first season. All of the yelling and stress were not something I enjoy. I keep hearing that it's so many people's favorite show, but I just didn't want that vibe in my head...

I am a huge fan of this show. The first season is really good and the second is outstanding. I just started watching the third season. It wins awards as a comedy and I really disagree with that. It is not a comedy - they deal with grief, trauma, addiction, complicated family dynamics. I can see why some people don’t like it.

It’s a good show, but some scenes cn be triggering (thinking of the Jamie Lee Curtis scene for those who have seen it), depending on your background. IMO it is more like a theater play than a series. Good acting. I did not finish season two, but will watch that and season 3 now that I know it has come out. Thanks ellen .

I have watched season 1 and part of season 2. Definitely not a comedy though there are some funny parts. It is kind of a stressful show but you start caring about some of the characters and seeing their humanity underneath the 'chef life' behavior.

I love it. Season 1 is my favorite, but the characters really evolve over season 2. Season 3 is... suspenseful.

Their writers do a really nice job developing their characters.

LOL...I had no idea what this show was about. I literally thought it was about a bear! Then when I was at one of my son's place one weekend, he picked up where he had left off, so I watched it with him. Not sure which episodes we watched but it was quite strange I thought. Might have to watch from the start one of these days.

We're about to start season 3 in a bit. I really enjoy it. The 2nd season is different than the first and both are well acted and entertaining. I really like Jeremy Allen White, but Shameless might be one of 2 of my favorite 2000's shows. The other fave is Six Feet Under. Both great tv, imho.

I just finished the 3rd season and while it wasn't as good as the second, there were some stand out lines and performances. I agree that the comedic moments are far and few between, but when they hit, they are golden. I seriously love this show and while I knew they'd have a hard time hitting the highs of the second season, it's still so good!

We really tried as we’d heard it was great - maybe 2 episodes 3? It was just exhausting

I watched a few episodes. I don't think it's the kind of show to binge. Just watch an episode every week or two.

DH & I started it last week and have been doing 2-3 episodes a night. We, generally, like cooking shows though, so that could help.
We just finished season 2, episode 6... that was a wild one.

I'm not sure what I think about season 3. Though any episode w/Jamie Lee Curtis is worth it. She's amazing on the show. I won't spoil it, but I am looking fwd to season 4.

I love this show. It's about how your demons shape you and drive you.
I'm on the 4th episode of the 3rd season, and I just want to throw a little Oliver Platt love out there. He plays Uncle Jimmy and definitely provides some needed comedic relief. ("$11,000 for butter?!")

You mean it's dystopian butter? haha

We love it and rewatched seasons 1 & 2 before we watched season 3. There was a big dropoff. No real plot, just a lot of chopping, swearing, and such tight close-ups that we spent a long time looking up Carmy's nose. I won't spoil it, but I hope season 4 is better. One review was titled, "Where's the Beef?" Another was "Tastes great; Less fulfilling."

Absolutely love this show but I agree that the 3rd season had some real lame episodes. Loved Tina's backstory and anytime Jamie Lee is on it's a win. Hoping the next season does more to advance the plot? I do get that there was a lot of info on why they all are the way they are and I love that!! Just wanted a tad more action in the restaurant lol.

I agree that season three was more atmospheric rather than plot driven. Season two was so good that I also thought season 3 was a bit of a let down.
