Anyone else watching Beryl?
Apparently it's already breaking records... some of them from 2005 which is when we had Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
I hope it's not a trend.

Watching here in SE Texas but our most reliable forecasters don’t think it’s going to be a threat here.
Scary to think what September might bring if this is now what we get in June, though.

DD just finished med school in Grenada so missed the storm, but they had 150mph winds on the island. A small island next to it got pummelled.

I live on the east coast of Florida, and I visit spaghettimodels.com daily for hurricane updates. We heard earlier this year that this hurricane season will be one for the record books and Beryl is starting out with a bang.

I am leaving for Michigan on Friday, so I will be far, far away, but my DH has (had) plans to go to Holbox on Friday to go fly fishing. He thinks there is still a chance, but right now it's directly in the path.

Im on the Yucatán peninsula, but inland in Merida. So probably just rain and some wind but not a hurricane here. I have food and extra water and pet food in case of prolonged power outage but that’s about it. My niece is coming in tomorrow for a visit so may be a hot, wet, boring weekend for he!
We have had unusual heat, fierce rains, and now early strong hurricanes. Yes, climate change is real.

We have property in Port Aransas so we are watching very closely. I have a fridge full of brisket, chicken and sausage to cook but we might instead be on our way down to the coast to pull the RV out and bring it home. I hate the uncertainty. Right now I'm praying for the people of Jamaica.

I won't forget getting the call from a strange phone number after Sally hit Gulf Shores because only a few people in my Mom's neighborhood had cell service. They have plan upon plan now if anything is coming their way.

And it's not an easy plan. And this is just the beginning. We are talking about pulling it home for hurricane season. We aren't going to get down there much this summer anyway so might as well bring it home and not have to worry or panic.

Two of DH's siblings are near Corpus Christi. I'd be a little more concerned about Beryl having a rapid intensification. They are like "meh".
I'm a complete weather geek, so I watch a lot of hurricane coverage. I find it fascinating.

Just watched the latest update and it’s now tracking more north. Landfall now appears to be around Matagorda Bay and Port A will be on the dry side. Will decide what we’re going to do in the morning. Being 4th of July weekend the traffic is insane here.

Ugh. We’re watching it more closely now. Houston’s going to be on the dirty side even if the current track holds true.
DH’s company has a bunch of people flying in from other countries tomorrow for a long week of work. Come to the USA! Enjoy a hurricane while you’re here! 🫤

Landfall now appears to be around Matagorda Bay and Port A will be on the dry side. Will decide what we’re going to do in the morning. Being 4th of July weekend the traffic is insane here. I saw how long the lines were for the ferry on TWC. Best wishes! It ended up being a very long, horrible day but we made it home safely. We got up Saturday morning and the weather guys were all showing it was heading more east/north towards Matagorda Bay and Port Lavaca. We debated for quite awhile what to do but finally decided that we would leave it and head home since the track was trending more away from Port A. We waited in the ferry line and made it to Refugio which is about 45 miles. And then they started showing some uncertainty and it was trending back west towards Corpus/Port A/Rockport so we decided to turn around and go back and get the RV and pull it out. It took a long time to get through the ferry again and back to our place. Traffic was getting worse all the time. We finally got back, got everything secured inside, hooked it up and pulled out. Of course by then the ferry line was crazy so we had to wait in it again. It's about a 5 hour drive to our house under good conditions. We did not have good conditions. Once we got away from the coast, the traffic wasn't bad but about Cuero it started raining and storming and flooding. Around Luling and Lockhart it was raining so bad we couldn't see the road hardly and thunder and lightning. We stopped in Luling for gas and my husband (who is a great RV puller. He's never hit anything before.) got hung up on a stop sign pulling into the parking lot of the gas pumps. Two really nice guys helped us out and we were so grateful to them. Rained all the way through Austin. We finally got home a little after 10. We never pull it in the dark but we did last night. Luckily, we have a huge lot with a circular drive and the house is set back very far so I told him just back it in enough to get it off the street and we'll deal with it in the morning. We were exhausted. I told him that will be fine unless the neighbors are having a party. Got home and the neighbors were having a party. But he was able to back it in anyway and everything was fine except for the scratch down the side from the stop sign. The stop sign itself was fine. Luckily, the trees in the drive are pretty trimmed since we lost so many in the tornado in late May so it was pretty easy to get it backed in in the dark. I can't believe that in the last couple of months we've had to deal with a tornado and a hurricane. I told DH this is one of those things that we will laugh about someday and he said today is NOT that day. Stay safe, Texas coast peas! Beryl is crazy!

Everyone stay safe. This morning, they closed my facility as of midnight and we're to telework as we're able. I was already teleworking because the AC on our floor has been broken for the past month, so no change for me unless I lose power and internet. I have a couple of UPSes so I can work for a bit until I lose battery power for internet, then I can switch to phone Hotspot. If it comes to that, they're just going to have to deal with me not being on because a single screen on a hotspot in the dark is NOT gonna work for me for very long. I'll use the available services to make sure my team is covering things and they can reach me on the phone if they need me and I'll pop on enough to guide them through it. I probably won't get much sleep tonight anyway, even though I think they're saying the worst in Houston won't be until after dawn. I have a dog that's petrified of loud noise and he's already on his second calming chew and in his thundershirt. He will likely be glued to my lap for the duration.
On the bright side, I still haven't seen Jim Cantore on TV yet and I live near two Waffle Houses so I think we'll be okay.

TXMary I'm glad you made it home safely. That sounds like a horrible day. yivit It's funny that Jim Cantore has become a meme. No one wants to see him in their hometown!
