Good morning.
Last night we lost power. So, we just went to our back deck and it was so peaceful and pretty. I think we often forget the little things in life that help us recharge. What do you do to recharge?
So, I'm ready for a nice, quiet day ahead. I have a video appt in the afternoon, but that's it for the day. So, I'll spend my day doing small stuff, my puzzle and relaxing. Dh is going to have rechauffe chicken Florentine for dinner.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone doing today? What are you up to this week? Apart from a yak w/my mom friends tmw I have a quiet week. Next week we're getting our new windows, so I am spending some time clearing out stuff that is by the windows, so that dh can move the big stuff. I hope to have a very good week w/small fun.
Wishing everyone a delightful week, ahead?

Happy Tuesday!
Just plugging along at work today getting my monthly reports out. I need to go pick up my wine order at lunch and I'm working on a grocery order for the week.
I recharge by reading in my bed and also binging streaming series. Luckily, my job is very low stress so I don't really feel the need to recharge a lot. I take care of my elderly parents with my siblings so that is my main source of stress.
I made a ranch baked chicken last night for dinner and I'll have the leftovers tonight. Easy peasy!
Hope you all have a great day!

What do you do to recharge? I spend even more time alone than I already do! Usually on the laptop or my phone ... sometimes in bed! I have to do it when I get "peopled" out ... Not much going on here today ... which is fine with me. I don't have many plans for the week ... my dd's might come over tomorrow afternoon ... they are getting their hair cut up in my end of the city ... with my excellent stylist! I might pick up Subway for dinner

I didn’t have a good start to the day. A couple of weeks ago, Sophia excitedly told us there was ‘a secret in mummy’s tummy, and it’s a tiny baby’. Well, today was first ultrasound day, and there is no heartbeat. It appears to have stopped growing about two weeks ago. We are all just devastated. They wanted another baby so much and I was so looking forward to another tiny person to knit for.
So, it’s been a slow day, with only essentials being done - laundry, recycling on the way to the grocery store and basic cleaning. I am glad I have leftovers in the fridge, as it means I don’t have to cook dinner. I have been trying to get more of my crochet project done, but I haven’t been able to concentrate for long at a time.
Last night I decided to make pizza for dinner, so tonight I will have the left over taco meat from Sunday, probably with rice.

He was a bit down yesterday, but it looks like they are going to release him in a day or two so he's got that to look forward to. His happy moment yesterday was when the pulmonologist who treated him during Covid showed up in his room. We suspect his internist sent him in. Anyway, he was so happy to have him back on the case. They have already delivered an oxygen tank to his room for the trip home and put in an order for an oxygen machine at home. Once they get the inflammation out of his system he shouldn't need it any longer. I really think once he gets home, can move about as he feels like it and get some good rest he will begin to improve more. And he will start back sessions with his PT trainer as soon as he can. He's a firm believer in getting that going asap. Thank you so much for asking. We both appreciate the good thoughts and prayers from everyone. As for dinner, who knows. Last night was a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and lemonade.

What do you do to recharge? I craft and I camp. I am fascinated by the topic of restorative rest. I have read many, many books on it. Most recently, I read the book, Rest by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang. Data has shown over and over again that computer/phone usage and television is not restorative and it can even worsen burnout and depression. Creative pursuits, reading, physical exercise, spending time in nature, and regular sleep/occasional afternoon is nap is the way to restore yourself from stress and burnout. Science is amazing. How is everyone doing today? What are you up to this week? Apart from a yak w/my mom friends tmw I have a quiet week. We will be meeting up with some friends for dinner and drinks tomorrow night. They are in our hometown this week up from Tennessee. I'm glad we will be able to spend time with them tomorrow. And then have a very quiet 4th. The whole day off without any plans sounds just like what the doctor ordered. This is so sad. I'm sorry for all of you. I don't know what is for dinner. I need to work something out because my food situation has now become quite dire. I have enough stuff to pull together a small salad for lunch. So that's the plan there. But I do not have anything to serve for dinner. I do, however, have a couple of new cookbooks. So I could search for something interesting. I am also excited today because I had three (three hours long too) meetings for tomorrow and two were cancelled!!!! So that made my whole day.

Oh sueg, I am so sorry. (hugs for you and yours) Recharging for me usually means cross-stitching with something on the TV I've seen a million times (usually old Unsolved Mysteries episodes). I had an appointment that I used as a follow-up from the one on June 18. I'm still having on again/off again symptoms of some sort of infection that I feel like have been on/off again since the end of May. The doctor is puzzled, so she did a throat culture (which I apologized many, many times for because I am just the worst at having them done), bloodwork to check for infection markers (so far, only the CMP and CBC results are in - elevated white blood cell count, elevated polys and lymphs, and a slightly low red blood cell count; she also had me get bloodwork done to check for mono/EBV), chest x-ray tomorrow morning to rule out pneumonia, and a follow-up with an ENT since seems to be all respiratory/ENT-ish in nature. Apart from that, nothing to report. The other results should be in by the end of the week, and the ENT appointment is scheduled for next week.

Oh sueg , I am so sorry. DH was up at 4AM for a 6AM tee time. I don't know how they golf in this heat. At least it will only be about 95 when they finish. About 8,000 homes were without power on Sunday from about 6:45PM until the wee hours of the morning. Then again last night. We were very fortunate not to lose power. Dinner will be Chinese Chicken Salad. Today's meme compliments of jeremysgirl :

Let me confess that I thought it was Monday. Ya'll must have wondered why my post sounded like a Monday post. A friend corrected me via text. Oops. sueg, my heart is just breaking for your dd, you and the family. Many healing thoughts are heading to all of you. Gentle (((((HUGS))))). **GypsyGirl**, your dh has a good attitude. His steel resolve to do all that he can to get better will serve him well. Meanwhile, I think you have earned some strong self care. I will hold you both in my thoughts. rymeswithpurple, I hope that they figure this out and that you are on the way to good health right away. This has been going on far too long.

sueg - I am so sorry, thoughts and prayers for your family. DD and I ended up with McD's for dinner last night. Not sure for the menu tonight! What do you do to recharge? I need to have alone time. That can mean doing absolutely nothing, reading, or crafting. But I just need to be left alone.

I was just searching the cookbook. It's warm here but not super hot. But I'm kind of craving stew. I am thinking quinoa, white bean, and kale stew. It also includes leeks, potatoes, carrots, and parsnips. Sounds super filling to me too.

Like lots of others today, not much is going on here. It’s a gorgeous day with tennis 24 degrees C. Perfect for deck sitting.
I don’t have a lot of stress in my life, although somehow I have anxiety that lately has been under control. I walk everyday and as you know, I love to read.
There were fireworks last night to celebrate Canada Day. Our small town does a wonderful display which we can see from our back deck. Unfortunately Walker is terrified of the sound so we had to hide with him in the basement for 1/2 hour. He shakes, pants and has to be as close to you as he can possibly get.
Supper is grilled steak, grilled potatoes and corn.

I've never really been this sick. I don't really feel sick, just sort of run down. I experienced months of feeling like utter crap when my house was being renovated so I know what it is like to just feel crummy all the time! I hope they can get to the root of your problem soon!

sueg - I'm so sorry for your family's loss. **GypsyGirl** - I hope your husband is home soon! Not sure what's for dinner tonight, something easy! I'm supposed to go to a show tomorrow and have no idea why I booked it so close to returning from our trip. Hopefully the jet lag will be a bit better and I won't snooze through it! Take care all!

Thank you! 💗 I think the other labs will take another day or so to get results back, so hopefully those can shed some light on what's going on. I'm fortunate that I have a great practice that I go to, and really like the lady I see as my primary care physician and the doctor I'm seeing there right now is also great (the one I see for primary care didn't have any openings available, otherwise I'd be seeing her, though I'm sure they all discuss patients and concerns - at least I'd think so). They don't dismiss my symptoms and I feel like they really listen.

Hopefully they’ll find the source and get you back to health. **GypsyGirl** it’s good your dh wants to get back to PT I hope you’re taking care of yourself too. I recharge in solitude. Gardening, painting, drawing, house projects. I do enjoy binging a tv series in bed til all hours. sueg I’m so sorry about the baby. Dd & her 2 bffs miscarried the same week earlier this year. We were all sad. I have Luke today. We went to music and movement at the wrong time. Oops. Now we’re swimming in his pool. Dh is golfing tonight. So I’ll eat whatever I want.

so sorry sueg.. and all those who are sick!! here's to good health!!
to recharge..skiing, backpacking, hiking camping.. my favs. or just sitting at an ocean beach spacing out.
reading works too. and singing camp songs. I join a zoom every month with a bunch of lovely ladies and sing. I'm in choir at church.. that is good but can be frustrating too..as it is so small, and no one shows up on time and the singing can be iffy.
I have lots of stress in my life, so it is one step at a time..

teddyw, bklyngal62 Thank you both! Waiting on the other results still, but those aren't typical labs that come back in 12-24 hours. She said the throat culture also gets sent out, and I'll do the x-ray tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can get one of the first spots. It's first-come, first-serve for the x-ray locations near me.

sueg , I'm so sorry for your family's loss. My heart goes out to all of you. rymeswithpurple , hope they figure it out soon and get you some relief! **GypsyGirl** , glad that things are looking up a bit for your DH. ~~~ sending healing thoughts to all who need them ~~~ I am a bit under the weather myself and ended up taking a sick day today. I got some rest and nursed my congestion and mild earache. Took a COVID test and it was negative, thank goodness. That was partly because we had heard we were exposed to someone who tested positive when we were out of town the week before, and partly because I've been having an on-and-off problem with my eyes being extremely itchy (which can be a symptom). I've been trying to isolate what is making my eyes itch and coming up with no conclusive results. The only major thing that could be different is that I'm wearing a new (to me) brand of contact lenses. But it's not like I put the lenses in and they immediately start itching -- I can wear them for many days in a row and then suddenly I have an attack of extreme itchiness. I've been using Pataday 2x per day but would really like to figure out what the issue is...! To recharge I read, craft, listen to music, take a walk, bake (but not in this heat!), or lounge/sleep. For dinner we are having steak kabobs with rice pilaf (& plain rice for DH).

rymeswithpurple, I haven't been preachy about acupuncture in a long time, so be forewarned. I've saved up to give the big speech. Seriously, it really helps w/allergies and lung issues. Since I've been doing it I rarely have issues w/my asthma and it used to be very severe. I'm having a little exacerbation, due to our weather and our beautiful garden and I'm stalking an acu appt for the week. It's good stuff and it helps a lot. teddyw , painting is theraputic isn't it? ntsf , a zoom w/other singers sounds like a very good time. I would love to hear you sing.

scrappinwithoutpeas is it possible your eyes are just dry? Like the contacts are drying them out? My antipsychotic meds make my eyes and my mouth dry. It is a side effect. I just try lubricated drops. I made the stew. I feel like a fool as I'm sitting here sweating my ass off now. But it was so delicious I think this recipe will be on regular rotation. Jeremy's comments were: less quinoa, more beans. Less kale, more carrots. So clearly I need to tweak things a bit.

scrappinwithoutpeas Thank you! 💕 I had some shortness of breath over the weekend and wasn't sure if it was because of feeling off or the fact it's been so dang hot in our area. I also got some gnarly mosquito bite reactions to boot. scrapmaven Perhaps I'll look into it. I want to see if they can figure out what's going on first. 🙂
